At present there is a washer in basement but no dryer I have a clothesline out back that i use when i have the time to hang it and get freshly dry . And you're welcome to do the same if you want to do a load. Otherwise there is a very clean easy peasy laundry mat, the Washing Well from the home 3 mins in downtown Easthampton next to the best bagel shop in the valley (Tandem Bagels) *winner winner* When i am home i listen to music, read and putter on the internet. The NeighborhoodSettled tree lined single family resident homes with great views and farmland just around the bend from me where the Park Hill Orchard is located and is host to Art in the Orchard, apple picking (late Aug thru Oct) and open to self directed strolling about. Literally 15 min walk from my from front door to there's. You will wake up to the sounds of birds singing in the morning and a cacophony of crickets and such at night. House is 2 minutes from downtown E'ho and the Nashawannuck pond. Small Oven Bakery, Galaxy Restaurant, Coco's Restaurant (both are stellar food and service) The Revival (homesteading DIY), Comics N More, Big E Market (local grocery)Tandem Bagelry, Luither's Coop fur acoustic evenings and spoken werd, too name a few e'ho estabs. There is 3 micro breweries in E'ho that have taprooms besides the local bars to boot. Oh and we have Easthampton Community Arts building (originally was the city hall building that lights up its towers every night in a revolving colors on the roundabout. It's kinda awesome sauce. Getting AroundPublic bus is limited into and thru Easthampton and is a under a mile from house. There is a great bike trail called the Manhan Rail Trail and it goes for days and days thru the small towns of this sweet Pioneer Valley area that is really great spring thru fall so bring yr bike or rent. The SpaceThe freshly refurbished and private apartment is on the first level of our rustic farmhouse. You will enter the apartment into the living room with a cozy couch for watching TV or reading. A microwave and small refrigerator are located in the living room, there is no full kitchen. The main bedroom has a queen bed with two closets. There's plenty of space to unpack onto the shelves or to hang nicer items. There is also a small shelf/desktop that will hold a laptop computer. (An additional small bedroom with full size bed is also available. See separate listing for our 2 bedroom apt.) There is one bathroom in the hallway across from the queen bedroom. The shower is a claw foot tub which requires you to step over a ledge and into it. The shower head is low and may not be comfortable for someone close to six feet tall or higher, however there is a handheld shower head to assist. The heat works very well in the apartment! You won't be cold in winter; bring a t-shirt. Guest AccessDrive slowly up the long driveway, it's a bit bumpy. The house is a work in progress and pretty rustic looking on the outside (for now). DON'T WORRY, inside is really nice! Easy parking is just outside the front door. The apartment is the one-story building in between the two-story house and barn. Enter through the sun porch and go through the purple door. Interaction with GuestsCome and go as you please. I'm happy to chat but this is not an "actively" hosted space. Dante, the coolest Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the world, is my permanent sidekick and will never miss an opportunity to say hello. The NeighborhoodSome of our favorites... Easthampton (practically around the corner): Shelburne Falls Coffee, Small Over Bakery, Mt Tom Ice Cream, Cocos Restaurant, Nonotuck Park, The Pond (where you can fish), Big E Grocery, hike up and enjoy the view from Mt. Tom Northampton: Frequently voted the "best small arts town" in New England. Unique locally owned shops and restaurants are abundant, you won't be disappointed by an afternoon wandering through town. Live music at the Iron Horse will never disappoint. A variety of cultural activities are always ongoing at Smith College, UMass, Amherst College, Hampshire College and Mt Holyoke College. All are within a 30 minute drive. Getting AroundA car is essential as there is little public transportation in the area. From the farm by car: 2 minutes to Easthampton 8 minutes to Northampton/Smith College 40 minutes to Bradley Airport (BDL) - Hartford, CT 45 minutes to Burlington, VT 90 minutes to Boston 90 minutes to Albany, NY 2.5 hours to NYC Other Things to NoteTouchstone Farm is a former organic flower farm and spiritual commune that fell into disrepair under the previous owners. We recently purchased the property and are in the process of bringing it back to its former glory; inside the house is much better than outside! The house is set back from the road and privacy remains intact, be prepared for rustic charm. You're welcome to wander the grounds, sit by the pond, or pick raspberries and apples in-season. Mindy lives on the farm and manages the property (and does all the hard work). Allison helps from afar and shows up when the weather gets nicer!
