The SpaceI love my little house in Echo Park/Silver Lake, one of four nearly identical houses on the lot. It's a one bedroom/one bath with a full kitchen, small (2 to 3 people) dining area, and living room with full sized couch and lazy boy. Bedroom has a queen sized bed. The location is great for close and far travel, being just far enough from the 101 to not hear it, and walking distance from Sunset Blvd. One direction on Sunset gets you into Echo Park, and the other into Silver Lake. Close to Silver Lake Reservoir, Echo Park, Dodger Stadium, great hikes in Alysian Park and Griffith Park, and not far from Downtown L.A. There's excellent food and drink nearby, including Mohawk Bend, Silver Lake Juice and Tea, Two Boots Pizza, The Thirsty Crow, Cliffs Edge, and Malo. Also less than a mile from a Vons Grocery, Starbucks, laundromat, and a couple of great taco trucks. I spent time and thought decorating/arranging the space, and keep it very clean. The neighbors are lovely and all friends of mine. Enjoy. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire house, including wifi. Feel free to cook, eat and drink, and play the piano. Interaction with GuestsI like interacting with guests via phone/airbnb in order to make sure they're happy with the accommodations, and that their arrival and exit are satisfactory for us both. Beyond that, I leave my guests to enjoy their time.

We think it's a great place, with an airy, breezy and relaxed vibe. Front porch has an amazing view, afternoon breezes and striking sunsets. (That said, if you're visiting LA in the summer, you probably already know that our lovely smog tends to make the view a bit cloudier than in the winter...but it makes the sunsets that much more brilliantly colorful!) Our fenced back yard has fruit trees, rose and (sometimes!) vegetable gardens, lawn, hammock, firepit, (ping pong table, boules set and croquet set are available if desired, and you will sometimes find them already set up), dining area under overhead pergola strung with lights, and bbq and smoker. We share back yard with guesthouse cottage. This is a non-smoking house inside, but "strictly outside only"-smoking is fine. Please remove all ashes and cigarette butts from property, down to our street-side trash cans before you depart! Housewares and linens are provided...just bring your suitcase and groceries! Secure high speed wifi and all other basic utilities are, of course, included (with the exception of TV). Parking - There is plenty of street parking, usually within 4-5 driveways of our front door. No one really parks on this street unless they live here because it's such a steep street, and there are no permits required to park, or days you can't park for street cleaning, etc. So parking's pretty easy even though it's street parking only. Cleaning fee - There is a small cleaning fee (up to $35) for shorter stays, to cover laundering bed linens and bath towels. An additional cleaning fee (typically $30-55 more) applies if the place is left other than as you found it, and if anything more requires cleaning. Any additional cleaning fee can be deducted from the deposit. --------------------------- MORE INFO - ROOMS AVAILABLE - Blue Room - 12x14 feet. Yellow Room - 12x13 feet. The SpaceThe House: Ample spaces to relax, unwind, and entertain - this classic California home has it all. Whether you're away for work or play, you'll feel at home here - with two outdoor spaces, a large living room and formal dining room to spread out and soak up that West Coast lifestyle. Each room has a walk-in closet with plenty of drawers and hanging space for your wardrobe and any new acquisitions you might pick up along the way. Bedroom 1 has a king sized bed, and Bedroom 2 has a queen. It's always sunny in Cali, and we're situated atop a hill which provides a constant breeze and some great East LA vantage points. Enjoy a covered front porch or a private backyard for a casual al fresco dining experience all your own. Guest AccessGuests have access to the top floor of the house, the basement floor is for storage. The house also comes with a dedicated parking space in the driveway. Interaction with GuestsUsually we will be there to help check in and hand over the key - and walk you through the space. Sometimes we're away and will guide you to the key or have a good friend come and greet you. Either way, we'll make sure your check-in process is easy breezy. The NeighborhoodSilverlake and Echo Park are some of the most vibrant and eclectic areas in town. Cuisines from around the world and some of the best cocktails in California are just minutes away. Hop onto Glendale Boulevard and you're in the heart of downtown in under 10 minutes. Convenient access to the valley and Hollywood via local highways makes this an appealing locale for all types of visitors - whether work or play brings you to Southern Cali you're covered. Getting AroundIt's always convenient to have a car in LA, but it's not essential. With Uber and Lyft - you can get a ride anywhere in the city in minutes, and for a very reasonable rate. The bus is an option, (there's a stop on the corner) as is the subway but the places you can go with public transit are limited. We have a dedicated parking spot in front of the house, which is a big perk - and the street is one of the few in the city that doesn't have street sweeping and dreaded parking tickets that come with it, so feel free to have friends park on the street whenever you wish.

The SpaceBefore we get into the details of the apartment and location, take a minute and go straight to my reviews. I believe that feedback from people whom have stayed here is the most important info to help you make your decision. The feel and look of a designer hotel, vibe and amenities of a local apartment, the perfect location for business or pleasure, and half the cost. The studio apartment is in a central Eastside location. It is in Silverlake near Echo Park, right off of Sunset Blvd. Silverlake is right in the middle of Downtown and Hollywood. This apartment is 1 of 2 modern styled apartments I've designed solely for the vacation renter. That means that the unit is much like a hotel, there are no clothes or anything stored in the apartment except for things for you! Included in the rate are three bikes for your neighborhood cruising pleasure! There is also a super cute custom renovated camper trailer that can rented as an additional bedroom for extra guests! Perfect for a family with kids! I also have a second unit that has a similar design upstairs to this apartment. Book both apartments for large groups! Ask me and I can make great suggestions for fun LA things to do and see. So.... next thing you need to experience LA is a nice clean modern pad to relax in. After all you're in LA! The SpaceYou will have one room in a beautiful two bedroom Victorian home in the historic Angelino Heights section of Echo Park. Check out Angelino Heights on wikipedia to learn about the neighborhood. Carroll Avenue is just one block away and is one of the most beautiful streets in LA. The bed is a very comfortable Queen Size (new mattress) with fluffy down comforters. You will also have some closet space to put your clothes. The house has hardwood floors and is wrapped in windows which flood the house with sunshine. There is a porch that overlooks a garden patio with cacti, a palm tree, succulents, a rose bush, and boasts an awesome view of downtown LA. The garden also has Weber Charcoal BBQ grill that you have access to. The living room has a flat screen HDTV with tons of cable channels, DVR, Epix, Apple TV with HBO Go. The bedroom has a mounted flat screen Smart TV with cable, HBO Go and FX Now. The Netflix app is on there but needs your login. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and every kitchen gadget known to man, so feel free to make a home cooked meal and dine on the porch overlooking LA. The neighborhood is very safe and is in the hip and vibrant Echo Park. We are minutes from downtown, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Hollywood, and walking distance to all the Echo Park attractions i.e. thrift/vintage stores, bars, great restaurants and taco trucks, and music venues. Some restaurant highlights are Button Mash, Mohawk Bend, The Park, Masa, and Kush. For bars: Little Joy Sunset Beer Company, Shortstop, Knight's Inn, El Prado, Cha Cha Lounge, and Gold Room. For music venues Echo and Echoplex are right down the street. For those of you with vehicles, there is usually parking right in front of the house. For those of you without vehicles this is the easiest neighborhood to navigate public transit in. The buses that pass through this neighborhood will take you to every part of LA, from Downtown to the beaches. The house is a 5 minute Lyft/Uber from Union Station. Feel free to hit me up with any questions! Good luck with your search! Guest AccessYou will have access to the bedroom in the photos as well as the rest of the house except for the other bedroom which will either be closed or occupied by my roommate. My roommate works long hours in the film industry and isn't around very often when working. Interaction with GuestsI'm a phone call/text away if needed! Getting AroundIncredibly easy access to the buses which can take you to every part of the city. The house is a 5 minute Lyft/Uber from Union Station. The SpaceThe house is a 2 bedroom/2 bath, but one of the rooms is used as a nursery, so it's perfect if you are traveling with a small child or only require one bedroom. Then there is a master bedroom with a master bathroom. The cabin (our other rental) on the lot may or may not be available is well depending on the calendar. The specs of the cabin can be viewed on this site by viewing "my other listings" in the side bar - "Charming Silverlake/Echo Park Cabin". It sleeps 2 and has it's own bathroom w/ shower and kitchenette and it's own entrance and back patio. The main house is very airy and open and light. Just about everyone who comes in the front remarks on how great the house "feels" and that it has such a great flow. There is a lot of wonderful history in our home, it was built in 1881, which means that it was one of the first houses in this whole area, when Sunset Blvd was just a dirt strip. It also means that it predates all the old, beautiful victorian homes in Angeleno Heights and surrounding areas. I believe this house was a farm house owned by a New England family which is why it has a really Cape Cod kind of feel. They were able to pick their ideal spot to place their house, which they did. The sun raises behind you, so the front of the house gets the early morning sun, and sets in front of you, so in the evening you have a beautiful evening sunset out the kitchen, backdoor and bedroom. And all year long we get an amazing sea breeze as we're in direct shot of the ocean up on this hill. On a clear day you can see all the way to the ocean at Santa Monica and the Malibu Hills, and constant views of Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills, Griffith Park and the Hollywood sign. It's truly a sanctuary in a bustling city. We are walking distance to many great bars and restaurants, a short drive from the sunset junction in Silverlake, which is busy with foot traffic, shops, and multiple farmers markets throughout the week. There's more to read about on the 'cabins' site, plus I'll include a (website hidden) map of all of our favorite places to eat, drink and grocery shop, which will make your stay much more personal. There is internet. Washer/Dryer. Parking Central AC/Heat There is a television with a wide variety of dvd's in the cabin, and in the main house there's also a TV a Roku box, which gets Netflix, Amazon, Hulu+ etc, but we do not have cable. We are located right on the border of Echo Park and Silver lake, so we are smack in the middle of downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. A stones throw from Los Feliz, a 5 minute walk to shops and delicious eateries and a 1 minute drive to get on the 101 freeway, so by car, just a couple minutes to downtown and hollywood (traffic permitting). My wife and I both work in entertainment and the property is very conducive to that type of living, the house has always been inhabited by artists, musicians, filmmakers etc. This neighborhood is very unique and eclectic. it's hip and eclectic and filled with culture, I have lived in this section of LA for over 14 years and there's no other neighborhood I'd live in... for what it's worth.

The SpaceIn this Echo Park gem, you are right in the action, but removed from the bustle. Raised above street level, the entrance is safe and quiet. On Friday nights, you can relax on the balcony and enjoy fireworks from Dodger Stadium. The living room is large and calming and full of good books! Guest AccessAside from the private bedroom (with queen bed & new mattress) and shared bathroom, you'll have access to a full kitchen (stocked with a blender, French press, and other necessities), spacious living room (equipped with a window seat), and a balcony to relax on after a day on the town. Interaction with GuestsI would be happy to talk to you about the neighborhood and show you around when you check in, and after that I will be staying elsewhere. A 30-something gallery director rents the second bedroom. He is respectful, kind, quiet, and barely around. But when he is, he is open and friendly and can answer any questions. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood feels like a small town tucked inside the big city. People are friendly, the cafes are fantastic, and the bars are everywhere. And there are restaurants galore--I can give you recommendations within walking distance. The apartment is a half-block from Sunset with its vibrant coffee shops, bookstores, and awesome tacos. The newly renovated Echo Park Lake is three blocks away and Dodger Stadium is close by. Downtown and Silverlake are 5-10 minutes away. We're a block from 826LA/time-travel mart (a literacy non-profit, great place to volunteer), Stories (bookstore/café), thrift stores, and Masa (restaurant), and just a few blocks from Mohawk Bend (bar/restaurant). Walk or bike to Chango and Fix Cafe down Echo Park Ave. Walk, bike, or bus to everything Silverlake has to offer. Getting AroundA little known fact -- buses in LA are pretty great! I don't have a car, which some folks might think is a novelty in LA, but a lot of people make it work; I take public transportation all the time. It's an easy 15 minute ride to downtown or less to Silverlake. Other Things to NoteBarking dogs and helicopters pepper the quiet, but it's just part of city life, and you'll find that anywhere you stay.

The SpaceA piece of expertly preserved secluded historic paradise right on Sunset Blvd! Great views of Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory from the backyard. Right in the middle of everything Silverlake and Echo Park have to offer! Access to public transport is 40 feet away. Extremely walkable location. Guest AccessYou'll have your own private room with a new pillow top queen mattress and hypoallergenic comforter with access to a private garden. We will provide you a set of keys upon arrival. Please take good care not to lose them. Feel free to use the kitchen anytime except 7-8 am, as this is the time I get ready for work. Also, feel free to prepare food and store your leftovers in the fridge. Most of the time, I will stock the kitchen with coffee, tea, bagels, cereal, eggs, cream cheese, toast, almond/soy and cow's milk, so you will have access to all of this as well. Interaction with GuestsMost likely will be minimal. I work 5 days a week, so you will probably only see me after 6 pm on weekdays. My husband is a writer who works from home and will be available for you to answer questions and make suggestions. The NeighborhoodSilverlake and Echo Park neighborhoods are just a few miles north of a thriving downtown. They have become the city's most sought-after neighborhoods and is home to a robust and of(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)eat restaurant and retail scene. Sunset Blvd contains numerous stops on the local bus lines that connect to L.A.'s vast and largely overlooked public transit network and can take you anywhere from Hollywood to Santa Monica to Downtown. Very walkable, uniquely spiritual and bohemian vibe, hipstery and trendy. You will not be bored in this neighborhood! Getting AroundWe're on the hill right above Sunset Blvd. The Bus stop is 40 ft away. There are 3 different bus routes covering Downtown, Echo Park, Hollywood, Westwood and all the way to Santa Monica! Just off the 101 freeway, we're 10 min drive from Downtown and 18 min drive from Hollywood. Griffith Park and the Observatory are about 20 min drive away. 20 minute walk from the Sunset Junction, 15 minute walk to Echo Park attractions such as numerous thrift/vintage stores, music venues (Echoplex) , taco trucks and bars. Feel free to ask us for restaurant/bar/music venue suggestions! Other Things to Note***Some of the decor and art in the common areas is new goth, occult, and horror-related, so if you are easily offended by horror movie posters or taxidermy, please be advised :-)***

Guest AccessGuests have access to a washer and dryer and off street parking. Fire pit and grill in the yard with private doors that open directly into the yard from the bedroom. Safe neighborhood. Cute cafe just across sunset, and walking distance to House of Intuition, 7 eleven, Mohawk Bend, several cute shops and coffee places. Walking distance to Echo Park Lake, and to the Silverlake Reservoir (little further, still walkable, about 20 min). Close to the 101, 2, and 5, freeway entrances. Getting AroundBus stop right on the corner! Other Things to NoteThere's a dog in the yard photo but she will be away with me, so you will have a pet free space during your stay :)
