The SpaceThis beautiful Swiss chalet has been in our family for 50 years. We own 15 acres, 400 ft. is lakefront. The huge wrap-around deck, with its Adirondack chairs, overlooks Lake Eden and is perfect for morning coffee or afternoon board games. We eat most of our meals here or at the picnic table on the shore – just a short path away. Lake Eden, a glacial lake, is considered one of the cleanest lakes in the state. We have two docks (one floating), 2 kayaks and a canoe. In keeping with our Swiss heritage, window boxes and wildflowers are everywhere. A lovely babbling mountain brook entices kids to catch frogs and visiting dogs to get a cool afternoon drink. From the lake you can see Mount Norris -- wonderful for hiking. A great blue heron has a nearby nest. There are deer, fox, and we even know where to send you to see moose. A World Away There is a bench by the brook for reading and relaxing. Much of our time is spent outside. Late afternoon we enjoy the sunset, at night we gather for bonfires and star gazing. The decor is traditional Swiss. There is a queen-sized bed in the living room with a view of the fireplace, two bedrooms (one with two twin beds which can be pushed together, the other has a single twin bed), and our attic, although not fancy, has 3 twin beds and a full sized bed where the older kids love to "hang out." We do allow dogs, but we ask that they are well trained, calm and that they do not climb on the furniture. This is not a place for wild nightlife (although you can find it in nearby towns) it's a place of pristine beauty, warmth, and fun for families! Plenty to do If you are seeking more adventure, there is golf, hiking, horseback riding and white water rafting nearby in Morrisville and Stowe. Stowe also has mini golf, movies and live theatre, an amazing bike trail and some of the world's best spas. In Stowe you can take a gondola to the top of Mt. Mansfield for beautiful views and a restaurant which serves lunch. Also, the mountain has an alpine slide. Trappe Family Lodge (of The Sound of Music fame) has evening classical concerts in their meadow. Lake Eden offers great fishing, as do surrounding streams and lakes. And, for a real treat you can charter a boat and go deep sea fishing in Lake Champlain in Burlington. Our kids each caught 4 huge lake trout each, and had a ball doing it! Guest AccessWe have a chest full of games and other than swimming, hiking and boating we'll tell you where to pick the best blueberries you've ever eaten, and we'll leave your our favorite recipe for blueberry muffins. Interaction with GuestsOur caretaker Emma may pop by when you are visiting. She's a wealth of knowledge about the area and as smart and nice as they come. Ask her about her encounter with the moose in the stream. She will have you in stitches. The NeighborhoodYou share the parking lot with Steve and Carol who own a log cabin there. It's a huge space - most likely you won't hear or see each other unless you want to. Other Things to NoteThis is a place to create happy memories. We purposely choose NOT to have a TV, phone or wifi (obviously it's not for everyone). It's a place to connect with each other in a beautiful mountain-lake surrounding. We even have a box where we dare you to set aside your cell phone and only check once or twice a day. Truth be told, cell phone coverage is spotty because of the mountains but texting is fine. Once you wean yourself from electronics you will love it and so will your family! Our friends and family love the option of our outdoor shower or our indoor claw foot tub. It's truly a world away.

Private, private private. Get away from the busy world we all live in. I will be opening my cabin in late May for rentals from June to November. Eden is a wonderful place to take in the Vermont summer or fall. It is a very peaceful and quiet spot that is perfect for someone who desires a serene retreat. The cabin faces west on the pond and has a screened porch overlooking the pond. This is a comfortable but simple cabin that does not have electricity but has propane lights, gas fridge, stove, hot water heater and full bathroom. Open design on lower level with kitchen, living room dining area and one bedroom and bathroom. Also has a loft for additional sleeping area. 400 feet of frontage on the pond with swimming area with canoe and dock. You can even swim au natural if you want ! This is an ideal spot for a quiet get away with hiking and biking trails nearby and many opportunities for canoeing and fishing. 40 minutes north of Stowe, Vt.The whole area is a recreational paradise: There are many opportunites within a few miles for biking, hiking, boating, fishing and most any other recreational activity one might want. There is a new indoor water park at Jay peak nearby! The camp is a beautiful place for the fall foliage too in Vermont and has a wood stove for those crisp fall days. Weekly rate is $600. The camp is available for rent from June through October .The daily rate for stays shorter than a week is $100. I also charge a refundable $75 cleaning fee. Because of the wildlife, loons, beaver and ducks inhabiting the pond, I cannot accommodate dogs as I did in the past. Also, because the pond is private and extremely quiet, it is important for any potential renters to understand that they must keep a low profile here so as not to disturb the unique nature of this spot.

Come and enjoy a great vacation! Hike the LONG TRAIL a 10 min. drive away;browse shops in STOWE, Golf, Ice Skate or enjoy the indoor WATER PARK at JAY PEAK. Hike or picnic in beautiful, scenic SMUGGLERS NOTCH, then return to your chalet and dive off the dock or enjoy your private beach on the crystal clear lake. The water is 7 to 8 feet deep off the end of the dock. With our grandchildren, we often enjoy a jump off the end of the dock when it is good and dark. Of course, there is a light over the dock should you prefer. Follow this with a soak in your private HOT TUB on the deck. You can fire up your gas BBQ on the patio and eat under the stars. Comfortable beds in three spacious rooms with KING, KING + TWIN and QUEEN + CRIB. Our chalet accommodates seven adults and a young child comfortably. Of course there are 150 TV channels as well as wireless internet for those who must keep in touch. Bring your own boat(20 ft dock) and launch it at the 'boat launch' at the south end of the lake and tie up at our dock, or use our Canoe, Rowboat or Pedal boat. For those who enjoy a 'country' walk, you can do so at any time right out of our driveway. For those preferring a greater challenge there there are several access points to the 'Long Trail' just a short drive away. Fine and casual dining restaurants(one just 5 minutes away).
