The SpaceOur house, built in 1922 and recently restored, has 3 bedrooms and a sleeping porch, 2 modern baths, living room with wood-burning fireplace, formal dining room, new kitchen and big backyard with creek behind it, just across the street from the beach on Lake Lenape in Mays Landing, NJ. Only 20 minutes’ drive to the Boardwalk, casinos and shows whenever you want; meanwhile kick back and enjoy a low-key, peaceful get-away. The town of Mays Landing was founded in the 1600s. Cross the street and you can swim, fish, sunbathe or canoe on the lake using our canoe. Bike the streets or wander the town checking out the Lighthouse and the Revolutionary War markers. Enjoy a drink or dinner from the porch watching the sun set over the lake across the street. Shop locally for antiques, roller skate, visit the wineries or dine at any of the nice restaurants and pubs nearby. Golfing, hiking, camping, visit the Pine Barrens, Lenox china outlet, Children’s Museum, Storybook Land, Heritage Center, farm stands and Historic Village, all a short drive away. Guest AccessGuests will be able to access the entire house except the attic (for safety reasons). We welcome reasonable use of our house, garage, wifi, cable, canoe + paddles (above age 6 for safety reasons) and grill. Fireplace should be considered decorative and not to be used. Interaction with GuestsWe have created a Welcome book with information about the town, nearby attractions, etc, for your enjoyment. We are available through phone or email if needed. The NeighborhoodNeighbors are friendly and you may get people waving at you even though you've never met. Lots of low-key fun nearby; if you need more excitement Atlantic City is 20 minutes away by expressway, with casinos, shows and the Boardwalk. Other beach towns are easily accessible. Read our Welcome Book for other suggestions of things to do for people of all ages. Getting AroundMost people walk, run, bicycle, kayak, canoe, roller skate or drive in the area. However the Atlantic City Airport is 15 minutes away and New Jersey Transit has a stop about a mile away with service to Philadelphia & Atlantic City 2-3 times a day. Other Things to NoteApologies to young adults: you must be over 25 to rent this property. This is a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood, and we and our neighbors are pretty protective of it remaining that way.
