I respect their privacy, as I hope they respect mine. I am happy to provide information about nearby restaurants and shopping, and have provided maps and brochures of activities and places of interest in the San Diego area. The NeighborhoodThe historic semi-rural neighborhood, dating back to stage coach days, is a well-kept secret, even to native San Diegans. It is secluded enough to be unique, very quiet and the homes, which are situated on large properties, are older and well-maintained. The narrow slightly uphill street has curves and no-outlet, so traffic is minimal. We have a neighborhood watch and the residents are homeowners who have lived here for many many years. The location is only 2 miles from Grossmont Shopping Center and Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Medical Center. Getting AroundThe neighborhood is situated next to I-8, which is the main east/west freeway in central San Diego County and takes you directly to Sea World and the renown beaches. There is a trolley station & bus service 1 mile away. Driving time is 20 minutes to Lindbergh Field and downtown San Diego on the beautiful harbor with its famous Gas Lamp District, Seaport Village, Midway Museum, Convention Center, Copley Symphony Hall and Petco Park. It is also only 15 minutes to the beautiful, historic 1,200 acre Balboa Park which is home to the world famous San Diego Zoo, International Village Shops, museums, Globe Theater, Botanical Garden, Organ Pavilion (which offers free summer twilight concerts), gardens, fountains, and the lovely Prado Restaurant with its large outdoor patio. The park celebrated its Centennial last year commemorating 100 years since the Panama-California Exhibition in 1915. Qualcomm Stadium and Mission Valley/Fashion Valley Shopping Centers are 10 minutes west, as is SDSU. There are also many good local restaurants in the El Cajon/La Mesa area, and quaint downtown La Mesa has many antique shops, clothing boutiques, a tea room, Friday farmer's market and other restaurants and happy hour bars. Part of W. Main St. in downtown El Cajon is closed on Wednesday evenings in the summer for its vintage car show, and also offers free Friday evening concerts on the promenade throughout the summer.
