A casona is a large estate house built by wealthy, landed Chilean families in the 18th and 19th century. The Casona Carrera is one of the last in Chile that remains with the descendents of the original owners, the Carrera Family, who led Chile into its Independence War with Spain in 1810. Ten thousand square feet of adobe construction is surrounded by a ten-acre park of gardens, fruit orchards and old growth trees from Chilean Patagonia. The casona is in the Central Maipo Valley, known for its production of wine, olive oil, artisan beer, pottery, ceramics, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables.
Guests will enjoy the privacy of their wing of the house and have access to all communal guest spaces such as the pool, gardens, Uruguyan wood-fired grill, wood-fired mud oven and extensive grounds. The guest wing has 3 bedrooms with private bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has an extra room with 2 single beds and a crib. An additional 2 bedrooms can be added. One of these bedrooms has a private bath and the other would need to share one of the bathrooms.
In addition to accommodation, Casona Carrera offers a variety of activities such as vineyard and micro-brewery visits in the area. Guests can also participate in activities such as wine or beer pairing lunches and cooking classes. Excursions to Santiago, the Pacific coast and local artisan villages can also be arranged. A daily dinner menu will be offered to guests at an additional cost. Please contact us if you need more details before making your decision.
