The SpaceWelcome to ETCA. - El Transito Arts Center. We offer three clean, private rooms with bath/shower, sheets and towels. Upstairs room (sleeps up to 3) has a great tree-house feel to it and comes with private bathroom, fully-functioning kitchen with fridge and an amazing outdoor living room. The downstairs guest room (sleeps up to 3) is a private room with an en-suite bathroom. Our third room (largest) is a dorm room that sleeps up to six adults. Ideal for small group of friends or family who enjoy adventure, surf and nature. We are 2-minutes walk to a local fishermen and surfers' beach where daily fresh catch are bought right to the beach every morning. Except for the weekend evenings when there are beachfront festivities at local bars,
ETCA is quiet, peaceful and offers a good location amidst the humble surroundings and friendly locals. (If you are looking for a 5-star accommodation, this is not it.) However, it is a great place to chill and decompress; it offers excellent opportunity to volunteer and puts your talents and expertise at good use. The Arts Center believes in Self-Sustainability and offers classes to learn new skills, especially stay-home women. It also houses the community library with over 2500+ books where you can read and mingle with the local children. ETCA provides occasional arts & crafts workshops where you can either teach or learn. El Transito is becoming quite a surf town which is gaining its popularity every season. It is for ANYONE who is looking for an adventure, learn to surf, go fishing at night with the local fishermen, go horseback riding, explore the colonial city of Leon (one hour away), and really get a taste of peaceful and chillin' lifestyle of a small fishing village far away from the hustling city life. We are located 55 kilometers (43 km on the paved highway, plus 12 km on the dirt road) from Managua on the Old Highway to Leon. Ride from the airport can be arranged for a fee. Guest AccessKitchen use, 2,500 books (some English books but mostly Spanish) many opportunities to volunteer at the library, teach class or simply play with the kids, catch a ride to the colonial city of Leon and back.
