The SpaceJust 90 miles north of New York City, it was hand-built over 20 years by architect Fritz Sultzer from IM Pei's Manhattan offices as his personal retirement home, and has a massive two-story pool and a large modern spa. Blasted from the granite clefts overlooking the main house, the pool area consists of two heated pools, two waterfalls, multiple patios (including one in the water), custom lighting, and a thunderous sound-system that can stream music from any Apple device. It's like a private, 5-star resort was airlifted into the middle of a forest. As one guest commented, 'This isn't a house with a pool. It's a pool with a house!'. There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in the main house and 1 bed and bathroom in a separate guest house, called the Smoke Shack. Each bedroom is entirely unique: The Quarry Suite is built into the exposed rock and has a massive attached bathroom, which with an open shower, hand-laid emerald mirrored tile, and waterfall flowing from the exposed rocks is like a mini-spa in and of itself. The Aviary is a window-lined bedroom on the top floor with a bed that sits on a lofted floor under a skylight and a sleeper sofa and large walk-in closet. The Nursery is a large, light-filled bedroom with an attached, fully equiped crib room, so new parents can be close to their baby without having to fear going into their bedroom. The Master Suite has modern, clean lines and a king-size thermarest bed. It's attached to a private, slate bathroom with a large rock-lined shower and brushed nickle fixtures throughout. Le Petit Boudoir has two custom-built adult-length twin XL beds and a large cedar-lined closet. It's right next to a beautiful french-country bathroom with a large claw-foot tub to relax in. The Smoke Shack was the original cabin built on the property by Fritz in the 1970s. With its all birch interior, rustic furnishings, loft sleeping area, full bathroom, kitchenette, and a 56' flat screen TV with cable and Apple TV, it is a fully self-sufficent home in and of itself. There are also multiple common spaces for people to get away: The Great Room serves and the focal point of the Shaker House and contains four distinct social settings. The TV area has a 60' flatscreen TV with surround sound and a large sectional for seating. The fireside has a large central hearth, fully stocked bar, and seating for six. The dining area has a massive custom built cherry table that seats up to 16 people and opens into the kitchen, which is fully stocked with all the appliances, cookware, dishes, and cutlery to prepare a feast for the entire house. Kids Only is a long playroom on the top floor with a 56' flat-screen TV, cable, Apple TV, Xbox, craft table, tumbling mats, toy-filled shelves and enough pillows and beanbags for up to 12 kids to have a sleep-over they will not soon forget. The Sun Room, with a fully stocked wet bar, beer and soda filled beverage refrigerator, ice maker, beach towels, and pool-side dishware, serves as the perfect staging area between the house and the pool. The Library is crafted entirely from cherry, gently lit by the large bay window, and fully wired for internet access. Whether you're hosting a large family gathering, wedding, or corporate outing, your guests will be delighted by the light-filled modern spaces set against the rustic charm of 25 acres of secluded forest filled with family friendly amenities. The SpaceIt is quite beautiful to be on the water. No motor boats allowed so quiet and peaceful. The dock is a wonderful place for morning coffee and bird watching. Wood stove and fire pit near the water for cool Fall evenings. Amenities of home with a country cozy ambiance. Not fussy and child friendly with musical instruments and games to play. Lots of light and open spaces. Please note that as I allow pets on a case by case basis, if you have SEVERE pet allergies, you may want to (unfortunately!) pass on my house. In addition, as it is my HOME, there will be reminders that this is someone's home throughout the house-my children's art work, a pair of shoes on the shoe rack, a list of neighbors phone numbers on the side of the fridge! If you are looking for more of a generic, hotel like space that does not have such reminders, then please pass on this space as well. I believe strongly in truth in advertising! Also, air conditioners are upstairs only-baseboard heating throughout the home, as well as woodstove downstairs. Thank you and enjoy. Guest AccessGuests will have access to fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, and plenty of kids games and kid and adult books. Dock for sitting and watching the herons and hawks... A peddle boat and kayaks are available as weather permits. Outdoor table for eating and lake watching. Please note that TOWELS AND LINENS ARE NOT PROVIDED!!! There are towels and linens on site that I use when I am in residence, but I ask that you respect my wishes, and do not use them. Thank you. Interaction with GuestsHouse will be yours. Although the house is on a dead end road, there are other houses nearby. The NeighborhoodIt is a dead end road so very quiet and very little foot or car traffic. Nice neighbors who are friendly but not intrusive. Chickens next door that sometimes visit. Since there are other houses on the road, if you are looking for a completely isolated experience, perhaps best to consider another option. Getting AroundYou would likely need a car. Other Things to NoteA place to go to experience nature without being too far away from urban amentities such as film, art and good coffee houses! Please note that I require a verified ID from all of my prospective guests. Thank you in advance.

The SpaceWe bought and completely renovated this guest house in 2012. We fell in love with the location and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! The property is amazing! To reach the house, you drive one mile through the woods via the former Hucklebush Rail Line that operated between the 1870's and 1940's-- bringing crops from surrounding farms to market. The creek joins one of the best trout rivers in the Hudson Valley-- the Roeliff Jansen Kill (Roe Jan)-- at the northwest corner of the property. You can relax by the Roe Jan, go trout fishing, or go tubing in summer. ...Or enjoy being in the house. We’ve done it up with designer furniture and great details. All the basics are provided (linens, towels, etc) and the kitchen is well-equipped. Relax in the hot tub or seating area behind the house while listening to the creek below. Enjoy dinner or a bottle of wine outside in spring, summer, and fall. Or... enjoy the great restaurants, antiquing, and outdoor activities in the area. For the restless-- there is a full size air hockey table and foosball table in the two car garage on the other side of the property. Guest AccessThe rental is entirely private to renters. There is a second house on the property that we use to get out of Brooklyn. There is also a small studio set up as a bedroom that guests can rent along with the one bedroom, to accommodate a party of 4. We may or may not be using our house during your stay, but either way the property is yours to roam. Walk down the hill from the rental, past our house, to the trout river below. Interaction with GuestsYou will check in on your own with full instructions. If we are upstate and in our house - feel free to come say hi! We love people. Otherwise we will of course leave you alone and give you privacy. You can see our house from the rental, but you also have great views of the woods. Our views are down the hill - not of you. :-) The NeighborhoodThe area is full of towns with incredible restaurants, shops, history, beautiful scenery, and outdoor activities! Please send us an inquiry for a list of specific restaurants and activities that we recommend. Getting AroundYou most likely want to have your own car to stay here, as the house is 15 minutes from town and there aren't any stores, restaurants, or public transit within walking distance. You could potentially arrive to the area by train or bus and then take a taxi in, but only if you plan on staying put for most of your stay. Other Things to NoteThere is no tv in the house. There is reliable wifi if you have a device that you can watch things with.

The SpaceThis old poultry house is way too nice for chickens now! But in remodeling, we retained the open plan, with its great light and air circulation. The kitchen and bathroom are separate, but otherwise the coop consists of one very long room. The classic chicken house roof design gives you 10' ceilings with a long row of windows up top, above a low ceiling with a matching length of long windows below. All these south-facing windows allow superb light. The kitchen has vintage appliances—a small electric stove and an ancient refrigerator, which will keep your beer good and frozen. Sleeping is camp-style, with everybody bunking together (one double bed and two single beds: sleeps a total of four), and a comfy sitting area. No TV, but there is wireless and a classic turntable stereo with a collection of great old LPs. Keep in mind that it is a former farm building surrounded by orchards and fields, and as such, it's rustic. Will you ever see a mouse? Possibly. But we have an agreement with them that they are not allowed to bear arms. Please note that the space has no heating or air conditioning. Very pleasant in spring, summer, and fall, barring weather extremes. Guest AccessYou have the coop to yourself, and are invited to enjoy the yard, including the lawn chairs on the hill, overlooking the Catskills. Dog guests permitted on a case-by-case basis (see "House Rules"). Interaction with GuestsWe live across the yard in "the big house," with our friendly dog. Let us know whatever you need and we'll be on it; otherwise, we'll stay out of your hair. The NeighborhoodThe Hudson Valley probably needs no introduction, but I'll repeat the platitudes. It's beautiful, and loaded with cultural opportunities and foodie adventures. Bard College, with its Center for Curatorial Studies, Hessel Museum of Art, and the summer music festival, is four miles away. The valley is studded with museums, including villas of the 18th century aristocratic families and 19th century robber barons, and lots of colonial sites. Our own farm is one of the 18th century Palatine farms in the area. Our rural road is perfect for biking and walking, and other walking and hiking areas, like Poet's Walk, Ferncliff Forest, and Tivoli Bays are just a couple of miles away. We are closest to Red Hook (2.5 mi.), Rhinebeck (10 mi.), and Tivoli (5 mi.). Bring a kayak and go out on the river. Further adventures lie across the river in Kingston and Saugerties--plenty of places to rent kayaks over there. Getting AroundThere is Amtrak service from Grand Central to Rhinecliff, which is about a 20 minute cab ride from here. But you'll need a car or a bike to get around once you're here. Other Things to NoteThere is no heat, so this is a 3-season, warm weather cottage. We start up about May 15, and continue through the end of October, if the weather is still good. In October, I block the second half of the month and then unblock dates when I see the forecast for the weekend. Let us know if you're interested in staying before we've put up the listing in May--if it's warm enough, we might have already turned the water back on. Floor fans suffice for cooling in hot weather. The coop is also great in the spring and fall if you like cool weather sleeping under blankets. We keep bees on the property, so those with the serious anaphylaxis reaction should be aware. Likewise, there is Benadryl in the medicine cabinet in case you are allergic to pollen or dust in this truly agricultural setting. Look for the bag of breakfast pastries from Tivoli Bread and Baking outside the door on weekend mornings.

The SpaceA lovely rural setting mid-way between the Hudson River & Berkshire mountains; 15 minutes from The Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, 20 minutes to Hudson and 45 minutes to Woodstock. Our guest room has a comfortable double bed, a single bed in the adjoining room and access to a private bathroom. Enjoy your morning coffee on our deck with great views of the Taghkanic foothills. *During the busy months from June - August, we generally request a 2-night minimum stay. Interaction with GuestsThough many people arrive with their plans intact, we're always glad to share information on interesting places and events in the area. We are easy driving distance from Omega, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Hudson, Woodstock and the Berkshires. The NeighborhoodThis area features the beautiful rolling hills of the Taghkanic foothills, a beautiful river within walking distance, great biking opportunities and a wealth of small, charming towns in all directions. Other Things to NoteWe love dogs but are unable to host visiting pets as we already have two small terriers. From May-September, we generally prefer a 2-night minimum reservation but will make exceptions on 1-2 day advance requests.

Year-round country getaway privately situated on over 2 acres of woodland and open fields with a meandering stream and mature cottage garden. Perfect spot for the outdoor enthusiast, culture-seeker or those looking to get away from it all and just relax. The great room with vaulted ceiling, wideboard pine floors and wood-burning stone fireplace has a wall of glass doors that opens to the deck with views of surrounding countryside -- this is the gathering area and the place to be if you are cooking, eating or just hanging out talking, listening to music or watching a movie. The kitchen contains everything you could possibly want for preparing gourmet meals and hardy country breakfasts. Basic spices, condiments and accoutrements provided. The dining table comfortably seats six. In the wintertime, a blazing fire is a must and we use it to toast marshmallows for smores and head out to cross-country ski on the property. Comfortably accommodates UP TO 6 people. The sun-filled master suite with queen-sized bed and country pine furniture, has its own attached full bath and glass sliding doors that open to a cozy seating area and garden. A large second bedroom with two twin beds and a third bedroom with a twin trundle bed (twin bed expands to be a king or two separate twin beds) share a full hallway bath. Privately situated within 30 minutes of most attractions in the Hudson Valley, the Catskills, and the Berkshires. Fifteen minutes from Rhinebeck Center. Fifteen minites from Bard College. Fifteen minutes from Lake Taghkanic State Park. 30 minutes to Poughkeepsie and Hudson. This is a rural location on a few acres of wooded and open land. There are neighbors nearby whose houses you can't see when the trees are in leaf. I am 3 miles/8 minutes to the nearest deli and dinner. And 5 miles to the nearest gas station and town. You will need a car to get around here. There is a wide variety of outdoor and cultural activities within a 15 minute drive.

The SpaceAiry, clean and beautiful 2 bedroom apartment in Milan NY. Perfect Hudson Valley escape, and conveniently located just 3 miles off the Red Hook/Rhinebeck Taconic State Parkway exit. The apartment has beautiful, brand new hardwood floors, 2 bedrooms that both have queen sized memory foam mattresses, a wood stove, a big, cozy L-shaped couch, and a well appointed full kitchen and bathroom. Things to know about the apartment: -Cell service is very limited, but we do provide a house phone to compensate. There is great wifi so if you have an iPhone, you can still easily send iMessages (to other iPhones, of course ;) -The Hudson Valley is very rural, and where we're located is right in front of 50 acres of woods. Please note that we always clean very thoroughly before our guests arrive, but bugs do still come into the apartment in the spring and summer despite our best efforts, because this is where they live! Typically what we see are some ladybugs, a few cob spiders and the occasional ant - it's nothing scary and never more than a couple here and there. -The apartment is completely pet free. However, we have a small, very sweet dog. If she sees you, she may want to interact with you because she's very friendly. If you have any issues with dogs, please let us know in advance so we can keep that in mind when you're visiting. -The apartment has oil heat. The wood stove is supplementary, and a feature of the apartment to be enjoyed in the winter. Guest AccessThe apartment is attached to our house, but is completely private and sound proof. The house and the apartment sit side-by-side, and the apartment has its own separate entrance. Guests are welcome to explore and enjoy the property! Interaction with GuestsWe will be here to check you in and answer any questions you may have. If we're not at the house when you arrive, we will let you know where to find the key. Other than that, the space is very private. You might see us coming and going, and if you prefer to be left to yourself, that is totally fine! The SpaceAny minimum stay requirements will show up if requesting weekend dates. If a single weekend night is showing up as available when scrolling through the calendar, it is available and please feel free to inquire!! Full of light and divisions created by old window sashes, the space creates an open connected feeling while still creating hidden nooks for curling up with a good book in your own space. The big windows face an upward sloping meadow, a veritable bird sanctuary much of the year. The interior is serene – with the meadow and fireplace, the space encourages reflection and community. Guest AccessThe barn is a private space. There are two private entrances. Two floors are accessible to guests, and a stairway leads to the downstairs master bedroom, as well as a room with washing and drying machines. Interaction with GuestsWe greet our guests and give them a quick tour. After that we may or may not see you again, but are always available by phone for questions/needs. A portion of the downstairs barn is only accessible to the owner for an indoor wood gassifying boiler (a heat source for our home and the barn). You may hear us (but probably not) as we load it 1-2x/day in Winter). With solar panels on the roof, the barn is heated and powered almost entirely with renewable resources. The NeighborhoodThere is a unique culture developing and growing exponentially in the Hudson River Valley where you can be alone in the woods, yet access fine food, arts and culture in almost every small town. Getting AroundA car is a necessity. Other Things to NoteOur home and one neighbor is visible to the South and West of the barn (please see photos); in winter parts of the homes of two other neighbors are visible in the distance. If seeking to accommodate more than six, we recommend you inquire if our other listing, the private suite in our home is also available and if so, it can be rented in addition. It's link is here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2822915 Occasionally this private suite may also be rented out at the same time, but is sited away from the barn maintaining privacy for all. We ready two queen beds in each bedroom. The other two beds (queen sized daybed and queen sized fold-out couch in main room) are left unmade but with sheets and bedding provided which need to be put on for night-time use if you plan to use them. We are officially in the town of Gallatin, though we need to put down Red Hook as that is our mailing address. We are 14 minutes to the village of Red Hook and 7 minutes to Pine Plains. We are also a little cycling friendly business, barn & bike, llc. The riding here is glorious. To check out a few of our routes, go online to ride with gps and search routes around Gallatin, NY. Anyone with bikes will have access to the following amenities: - covered or indoor bike parking - laundry - bike stand - basic tools for cleaning, lubing, minor break and gearing adjustments For cyclists coming from NYC who do not have a car, we can pick you and your ride up at either Wassaic or Poughkeepsie (Metro North) train stations, or Rhineclliff or Hudson (Amtrak) train stations for $65. Or you can ride to the barn (and we'll transport your gear)! Lastly, we also have an 800sq ft art studio on the property which can be rented. Please inquire for details.
