The SpacePlease note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. Please also see our other listings on airbnb. Wandawega Lake Resort/Camp Wandawega is a private friends & family retreat, not a “proper” resort. We are carrying on the proud 90-plus year history of reconnecting people to the simple pleasures of simple times in a no-frills, recreational camp setting. All of our guests are here as part of preplanned recreational friends & family camp programs: sorry, but we do not accept random “walk-ins” or “transients.” But all are welcome to join us on Sunday mornings for Catholic "mass-in-the-grass" service, a 50-plus year old tradition; Sunday's at 10am weather permitting. To support the ongoing renovation of this historic property and the largely philanthropic camp activities, we are continuing the tradition of making a very limited number of accommodations available for self-guided "friends-and-family" recreational camp programs during the summer months. Admittedly, the price is expensive for the primitive nature of the accommodations, so please please please set your expectations accordingly. Remember, you're not just renting primitive lodging, you'll also have access to the grounds, private beach, woods, communal spaces like the treehouse, campfire pits, sports courts, boats, canoes, smokers, grills, etc. Again, we are not a "proper" resort, so if you require an immediate response, lots of hand-holding and attention to detail, then this just might not be the best fit for you. OK, you've been warned : ) Thanks. This is the top floor of the old bunk house. Like all of Camp Wandawega, it’s a 100% back-to-basics, no-frills, primitive experience. Simple rooms, vintage furnishings. Shared “his” and “hers” restrooms and showers. A shared primitive kitchenette. A common parlor at the end of the hall. For all intents and purposes, there is no heat or AC: just windows to open, and a lake breeze. Please check the weather before you come, and bring an extra sleeping bag if it’s going to be chilly at night. If you think of it as "camping indoors" and come prepared for the weather, you'll be just fine. Remember, October in WI can bring lows in the 30s! There are 6 bedrooms on the top floor of the old bunk house, and each room can sleep up to 2, for a maximum of 12 guests. If you have more than 12 then also consider the mid level of the old bunk house or some of our cabins. Please note: The photos are not 100% accurate, as things are always being moved around, redecorated, etc. but they are still indicative of the overall look-and-feel. We strongly suggest you come for a tour before booking if possible, so you can be sure you're into the back-to-basics vibe. What should I bring you ask? For starters, the camp basics. A few beach towels. Some Deep Woods Off. Sunscreen. And flip flops. If you have a favorite blankie, sleeping bag and pillow, bring them too, as I’m sure they’re more comfy that what we have : ) As for food, we suggest that you shop local. Bring an empty cooler and fill it up at the Elkhorn Piggly Wiggly and Frank’s Liquors. Or Wilson Farm Meats in Elkhorn. Or Rushing Wateries Fisheries in Palmyra. Or The Elegant Farmer. There’s plenty of local produce, meats, cheeses, beer, wine and booze for appetites and budgets of all sizes. Even the nearby Mobil on Cty A has bait, food, wine, ice, booze and beer too. Plus a nice little taqueria within. Most of our friends and family live out of coolers when they’re here, grilling out, and frequenting local restaurants like Holi Canolli, The Chalet, and Sperino’s. Again, this is not a "proper" resort, it is a private, friends-and-family retreat that is making a few cabins/cottages available on a very limited basis for recreational camp activities. As such, it is very informal and causal, so please be patient with us, as we are not always available to instantly answer questions. Before staying with us, please request a copy of our "Manifesto of Low Expectations.” All guests will be asked to sign a release of liability. Please also know that Camp Wandawega still hosts Sunday morning Catholic "mass in the grass" at 10am, weather permitting, a tradition dating back to the early 1960s when the property was still owned by The Latvian Marian Fathers. Just don't want you to be surprised if you're there on a Sunday morn and awaken to find 100-plus worshipers gathered at the nearby outdoor chapel. Maximum number of guests must be agreed upon before booking. Guest AccessGet "back to basics" at Camp Wandawega. Our guests aren’t renting a couple of random cabins as much as they’re immersing themselves, their friends and family into the whole old-school camp experience featuring a full slate of recreational camp activities such as canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, horse shoes, tennis, shuffleboard, archery, campfires & s'mores. The fact that we have no modern conveniences is part of our charm. If you're not sure this is for you we suggest coming up for a visit and a tour before staying with us. If you’d like to see an unedited view of camp, simply search for us on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), Instagram, Youtube and Vimeo to see us through the eyes of the many who have visited over the years. Our guests have access to simple, back-to-basics camp showers, like you recall from your childhood summer camp. Outdoor grills and smokers are also available, as are a number of nearby restaurants and bars. If you’re looking for fine lodging, look elsewhere: this is old school cabin-living, like you remember from summer camp. Interaction with GuestsWe are often up at Camp on weekends, so perhaps we'll see you. We'll always have a local property manager on call should you need anything, In general, we leave our guests to their own devices, and are always happy to offer up suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc. The NeighborhoodAn old school lake community, about 7 miles outside of Elkhorn. About half of the neighborhood homes are year round residents while the others are summer homes. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation available. Other Things to NoteAll guests must sign our Release which can be viewed here: (URL HIDDEN) Please make the time to review it in advance and let us know if you have any questions about it that you'd like to discuss before your arrival.

Also, while we have been pet-friendly over the years, unfortunately we are now transitioning to a "no pets" policy. Although we are dog lovers, the extra wear and tear has become prohibitive. Although we charged a $50 pet surcharge, we still couldn't keep up with the extra cleaning and repairs that were required. And now that we recognized by the National Register of Historic Places, we have to be even more careful about the ongoing preservation and renovation of the property.

The SpaceOur cottage is a unique rustic space that offers beautiful lake views in a peaceful setting. It provides a spacious front and back yard with a fire pit along with a large wrap around porch and a screened in sun deck. There is a separate garage with availability to park up to two additional cars in the driveway. We are in the process of fixing up the garage, so we apologize that it is currently unusable. If you're expecting high end, Stonefire Cottage isn't for you. The interior has plenty of new amenities, but still somewhat rustic with lots of character and charm. It's simply a cozy place that feels like home. Guest AccessYou get the entire house. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, but we can also provide an air mattress that can fit in the living room upon request. In both full bathrooms, there are toiletry items and clean towels for you to use during your stay. In fact, it's not reflected in the current photo, but we recently upgraded the downstairs bathroom with a new shower, vanity and flooring. The tap water is totally drinkable, but since we live in the country it may taste a little different to you if you aren't use to well water. The kitchen is stocked with all sorts of cooking tools and utensils for you to use. You can also help yourself to any of the condiments left in the fridge and pantry items in the cabinets. We have cable TV and Internet as well as a bunch of board games, books and movies in the living room cabinets and wooden boxes for you to borrow during your stay. Please make sure to return anything you use prior to your departure. You'll also find extra blankets in the coffee table trunk in the living room and beach towels on the dresser in the downstairs bathroom. Interaction with GuestsWe aren't onsite during your stay, but we do have a wonderful property management company nearby should anything come up. Getting AroundIt's best to have a car, but you can easily walk to the beach closest to us. Other Things to NoteOur home is in the country, so even with regular cleaning some you may find a cobweb or two. We apologize in advance, but please think of that as part of the rustic country charm Stonefire has to offer. And because we are in the country, mice and other country critters like to hang out in the woods, so do not leave any food out – please store food in the fridge or in the storage canisters/Tupperware provided. The thermostat is located in the downstairs bedroom. Feel free to set it to your desired temperature during your stay, but if you could return it to 74 degrees prior to checking out we would greatly appreciate it. In the upstairs smaller bedroom, the light switch needs to be turned on in order for the ceiling fan and outlet to work. We prefer you just call our property manager, but should you need access the circuit breaker box, it is located in the basement in a room to the right of the the hallway – the ceiling is low. Please bring the flashlight hanging on the wall leading down the basement stairs with you to help you see.

All proceeds from rentals go into the maintenance, upkeep, and continuing renovation of this historic property. Remember, you're not just renting a primitive cabin, you'll also have access to the grounds, private beach, woods, communal spaces like the treehouse, campfire pits, sports courts, boats, canoes, smokers, grills, etc. Again, we are not a "proper" resort, so if you require an immediate response, lots of hand-holding and attention to detail, then this just might not be the best fit for you. OK, you've been warned : ) Thanks. This private, vintage, modest three-bedroom cabin overlooks a pristine lake and wetlands, nestled within the legendary Wandawega Lake Resort, aka Camp Wandawega. It has one large bedroom and two smaller ones. The large bedroom is suitable for momma and papa bear, while the other two bedrooms are better suited for kids. The cabin can sleep up to 5 guests, 6 uncomfortably. It also includes an outside porch, an interior sitting room, a primitive kitchenette and half bath. For all intents and purposes, there is no heat or AC: just windows to open, and a lake breeze. Please check the weather before you come, and bring an extra sleeping bag if it’s going to be chilly at night. Please note: The photos are not 100% accurate, as things are always being moved around, redecorated, etc. but they are still indicative of the overall look-and-feel. We strongly suggest you come for a tour before booking if possible, so you can be sure you're into the back-to-basics vibe. Guest AccessGet "back to basics" at Camp Wandawega. Our guests aren’t renting a random cabin as much as they’re immersing themselves, their friends and family into the whole old-school camp experience featuring a full slate of self-guided recreational camp activities such as canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, horse shoes, tennis, shuffleboard, archery, campfires & s'mores. If you’re looking for fine lodging, look elsewhere: this is old school cabin-living, like you remember from sleep-away camp.

Not far from Lake Geneva, our spacious and comfy house is prominently situated on spring-fed Lauderdale Lakes in Elkhorn, WI, just bursting with knick knacks and activities. It's the perfect place for family reunions, weekends away with friends and children, golf foursomes, girls' get-away weekends, etc. Everyone can stay under the same roof instead of in different hotel rooms, waking up together to enjoy all the comforts of home. You're welcome to use anything that's out, from my mom's home-thrown pottery, to the abundant collections of books, movies, games and toys--for all ages (motorized vehicles excluded for insurance purposes). Adults can avoid drinking and driving by singing karaoke in the tavern downstairs while the kids play in the nearby rec rooms. Or borrow our canoe and paddleboats (and life jackets) and go out on the lake. Truly, plenty to do for all ages in all kinds of weather. Sleeps 10 adults and 10 kids comfortably, with a triple bunk area for cousins and friends. Escape to Wisconsin! (Just not after The PROM. We are a PROM-FREE ZONE.) Truly a home away from home, our house has that lived-in feel because it IS lived in by us, as often as possible. But when we're not using it, we hope you'll love, appreciate and care for it just like we do. Perfect for larger groups: Family reunions, College reunions (no recent grads, please!), girls' getaway weekends, golf groups, extended family get-togethers that nobody wants to host--you name it! It's easy to maximize valuable time together when you're all under one roof. Doing the dishes is more fun at someone else's house, right? We assume groups staying here share our love of the family setting and will embrace the home-like atmosphere while putting up with our personal belongings. This is not The Hilton! It's neutral territory but with all the comforts of home. You have the run of an entire well-stocked house instead of trying to squeeze into various hotel suites for Happy Hour or family game time. There's plenty for all ages to do without ever leaving the premises! Easy access!: Drive up from Chicagoland, hop over from Milwaukee or Madison, or fly into either O'hare or Milwaukee and head straight there. Use Mapquest or our map. We haven't had anyone get lost yet (except for my brother-in-law years ago, and we're still looking for him). Activities galore!: All ages, all weather, there really is something for everyone. 3 gas fireplaces keep the place toasty for marshmallow roasting. A/C takes the edge off in the sultry months. Towels and linens are on-site so you don't have to lug them along. Feel free to use our coolers for beach play or paddle boat rides, take advantage of local activities, or just hang around the house and relax. Mini driveway tennis gives you an activity right outside the garage door (a tennis/paddle hybrid), and there are scooters and toys to keep the little ones occupied when you're sweating through a tie-breaker. Not quite ready to settle down after dinner? How about Pictionary? Put in a good movie for the kids (and grandma) while the adults head down to the Tavern on the lower level. Sit at the bar (someone can play bartender; don't forget to BYOB), or grab the mike and commandeer the karaoke machine. Play darts, cards, or the piano, have a few beverages, and then all you have to do is find your bedroom before someone else steals it from you! The next thing you'll be aware of is the smell of coffee wafting from the kitchen, and the murmur of the early risers as they hang stumble into the great room to start another fun day.
