The SpaceThe suite boasts a comfortable bed and good reading lights. A down-filled sofa is in your private television alcove. Enjoy a lite breakfast of coffee, tea, fresh fruit and muffins. Relax to the sound of the creek and rustle of cattle. This is not an antiques and lace kind of place. If boots and jeans or bicycle helmets and walking shoes are your style, this is the place for you. Due to roaming wildlife, open water and electric fences, this ranch is not suitable for young children. Guest AccessA washer and dryer are on premises, along with an iron and ironing board. The kitchen is available upon request. A large screen tv with DVD player is conveniently located. Direct TV also is provided. The private guest lounge has a microwave and refrigerator. Interaction with GuestsThe host is on premises to make your visit comfortable and to give helpful information about the area and local activities. Getting to know our guests is a treat however we respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodThe ranch is nearly a mile from the closest human neighbors. Cattle, a few coyotes and plenty of hawks share this peaceful place. Take a leisurely stroll down the 1/2 mile gravel drive along the cattle pastures; bicycle the back roads; enjoy the picnic and camp grounds two miles above the ranch in the Naneum State Forest. Or, hang out and listen to the creek or nap in a comfortable chair. Getting AroundThe ranch is a scenic, easy, 15-min. drive into Ellensburg. The small community of Kittitas is 6 miles from our main gates and hosts a convenience store, brew pub, small restaurant and dining tavern plus a service station. The Yakima Airport is 45-min South; Seattle Airport is approx 2 hrs Northwest; Spokane Airport is 2-1/2 hrs East. Shuttle buses serve Yakima and Seattle. Other Things to NoteEllensburg hosts wine events, has wonderful art galleries and very nice restaurants as well as fast food venues. There's nearly always something happening in town or at the university. Jazz in the Valley; First Friday Art Walk; The Ellensburg Rodeo over Labor Day is the genuine article. Concerts at the gorge: about 40 min.; ski Snoqualmie in less than an hour. Naneum State Forest abuts the ranch. A small bedroom with adjoining bath, suitable for one person, also is available by special reservation.

It is a short walk to downtown and a 10 minute walk to the fairgrounds or CWU. People love the huge 100-year-old maples in front of the house. Ellensburg is a great place for walking or biking. Several fine restaurants and wine bars are within walking distance. Check out the Ellensburg Downtown Association page to see current activities. It is also great to drive to nearby hiking trails, including one by the Yakima river. From its inception by local farmers and ranchers the fair has showcased the best that Kittitas County has to offer. With the building of the rodeo arena and the first permanent buildings on the fairgrounds in 1923, the beginnings of the permanent location for the combined County Fair and Rodeo took hold. Now, each year, as in 1923, agricultural exhibits and competitions, a four day rodeo and a gathering of YakIma Indians takes place. THE ELLENSBURG RODEO SEPT 2-5 LABOR DAY WEEKEND one of the “old rodeos” and has earned its place as one of America’s Top 10 professional rodeos. The Ellensburg Rodeo also hosts the World Finale of PRCA’s Xtreme Bulls Tour. Started in 1923 with the same volunteer spirit that still “fuels the fire” of today’s volunteers, the rodeo has grown from a local competition among ranch hands to the Professional event of today with over 600 contestants and prize money in excess of $400,000!

The SpaceOur studio apartment is quiet, clean and thoughtfully updated, and we think you'll find it to be quite a nice place to stay. With its own exterior entrance and no interior connection with the main part of the house, you will have the entire studio to yourselves; there are NO shared spaces at any time. This is the STUDIO version of the apartment. It has a sitting area with a table and two chairs, a kitchenette (fridge, microwave, stove/oven, sink and basic cooking supplies for simple meal prep), a small sleeping room with a queen bed and a spacious bathroom with shower stall. Games, books and free WiFi available. Bring your mobile device if you want to watch TV/movies as there is no TV set. There's some outdoor seating if wanted. Take a look at all the photos; we've included pictures of the entire space. See "Other Things to Note" below if you'd like more elbow room. WANT A ONE-NIGHT STAY ON A WEEKEND? Weekends have a two-night minimum, but we can make just one night available for a $15 cleaning charge (still less than hotels!). PLAN TO ARRIVE ON A SUNDAY? We can do a Sunday arrival but only with a check in time between 6:00 and 7:00 PM (-ish on both sides). See "Other Things to Note" below for details about arriving on a Sunday. Interaction with GuestsWe will welcome you when you arrive, get you the key/code, give a quick tour and answer any questions have. After that, you will have your privacy. We will be available by phone/text if you need anything! The NeighborhoodAcross the street is the large grassy area of a city park and adjacent to that is Ellensburg's Memorial Pool which features a full-sized indoor swimming pool, kiddie pool, hot/dry sauna, hot tub and fitness center (with ellipticals, bikes, treadmills, rowers and weight machines), all available for a small daily fee. The homes in this area have character and the neighborhoods are very walkable. Safeway is five blocks away with downtown two blocks beyond that. In our restored "six brick blocks" downtown, you will find many shops, restaurants, bars, museums and art galleries. The studio is also 2.5 blocks south of campus with the student union building and numerous halls nearby and the music hall and athletic center a bit further away. There are some eateries located within three blocks of the apartment, near the university. Getting AroundWe do have a public transit system for which information is available in the apartment (or you can look up Hopesource Ellensburg Transit online). There are also a couple of locally-owned taxi companies. I've been told that Uber is now in Ellensburg as well; I have not verified. Other Things to Note• NEED SOMETHING LARGER? We do have a large bedroom that can easily be opened up and added to this studio space and with that, we can accommodate up to six people. You can find information about the larger version of this same space at our other listing (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7998301). With that, you'd have this studio's queen bed available as well as an additional queen bed and a futon. If you'd like to reserve the larger space, please visit that listing to book. The per night cost for this option is higher. We do ask that -- in good faith -- you rent the space that is appropriate to the size of your family/group. Thank you! • Weekday parking on this street requires a permit, which we provide for one vehicle. ***PLEASE LEAVE THIS ON THE TABLE AT THE END OF YOUR STAY*** Sorry to i-shout, but we do need the permit for our next guests; the city does not give these out at will. $50 of the security deposit is for this purpose, but we seriously don't want your money ~ we *need* the permit. Thanks for your help with this. • SUNDAY ARRIVAL: We'll do a Sunday arrival, but ONLY between 6:00 and 7:00 PM (-ish on both sides). If you book to arrive on Sunday, we'll take $15 off that night. Sunday is our family day and we're at church until late afternoon. If this later check in time doesn't work for you, we'll regretfully have to decline the reservation. If it does, great! We'll see you some time around 6:00; we'll arrange the exact time closer to your arrival. IF the apartment wasn't rented on Saturday night, it's *possible* we could check you in sooner, but we won't know that for sure until that Friday or Saturday; please don't book unless a 6:00-7:00 PM or so check in is acceptable. • This apartment is ATTACHED TO A HOUSE. Please be respectful of our long-term renters (and our neighbors) by keeping the noise level down. The front and back yards are not included in the Airbnb rental; those are part of the main house. There *is* a small sitting area right outside the apartment door. • THIS OLD HOUSE has some funky lighting and heating quirks. Nothing unsafe in the least ~ some light switches and fixtures just aren't communicating with each other. No worries - the space is still well-lit. As for heat, due to space issues, we use individual oil-filled radiant heaters that heat the space well. There is no AC for the warmer months, but this side of the house is well-shaded and we have fans for your use if needed. We have not received any negative feedback about the temperature in the apartment during the summer months. • CHILDREN TRAVELING WITH PARENTS: We love kids! We have lots and know it can be hard to find good, affordable accommodations when traveling. Kids 17 and under stay free with their parents but we do ask that you choose the correct option for your group's size, although 1-2 very young children in the studio is fine. If you have more than two children, or if any are over the age of five, we can accommodate you at our other listing. Message us if you have questions. • The days surrounding LABOR DAY WEEKEND are county fair and rodeo time in Ellensburg! This is Ellensburg's biggest event of the year by far. The house is a half block from the fair's main entrance, so rather than being at the corner of peace and quiet, the apartment is at the corner of busy and happening. Rides (located across the street) don't start until noon and things quiet down by 11pm or midnight, so there is SOME quiet time, but please don't make a reservation for this time period if you want a quiet getaway. Also, your car will have to be able to go over the curb onto our lawn as there's no street parking during the fair (our minivan clears it). Sound crazy? It is, but it's also a lot of fun if you're up for it. We really enjoy this time of year and you can't beat this location if you have fair-based activities. • Ellensburg has oodles of FESTIVALS and ACTIVITIES throughout the year and also has a lot of OUTDOOR RECREATION opportunities. Our local newspaper is called the Daily Record and on their home page you'll find a link to a Calendar of Events to see what might be going on during your stay. • A local stop for the BEL-AIR AIRPORTER SHUTTLE BUS (to/from SeaTac International Airport) is just half a mile away, at the Starbucks on University Way. If we're available when you arrive, we'd be happy to pick you up and bring you to the apartment. • ABOUT FISCHER HOUSE: Our house, built in 1908, was originally owned by Ray and Florence Fischer. Ray was a bookkeeper and Florence a school teacher; both were active in the Ellensburg community for many years. The main part of the house still retains many original details. The studio was added in 1998 by the Welch family who purchased the house from Florence in 1976. We purchased it from the Welch family in 2005, making us just the third owners in 100+ years. • 10% of our Airbnb income goes to ST NILUS SKETE, a Serbian Orthodox monastery on a remote island near Ouzinkie, Alaska, where the sisters are currently constructing simple housing for themselves, by hand. • Finally, we have NEVER had a report of or problem with bedbugs! Ever. Because we want to keep it that way, we have quarterly inspections done by Prosite Pest Control. Our latest report says we continue to be bed bug free!

The SpaceThis yurt is pretty tricked out, but it's important to remember that a yurt is basically a large high-class tent! Lark Meadows is also a working farm, so you may need to dodge a bit of chicken poop (free range chickens)! That said, it is a comfortable and beautiful space to get away and just chill, or use as a base for outings in the area. Guest AccessWifi, swim in pond, many local hikes, nice pedestrian downtown with galleries, shops, farmer's market, wineries, etc. Fresh produce available for sale in season, or treat yourself to a fabulous farm to table breakfast or dinner featuring ingredients grown on the farm...speak with Ren about pricing and menu. Farm-made dishes might include... Breakfast: -fresh seasoned greens topped with poached eggs, gluten-free biscuits -gluten-free black current pancakes with bacon & maple syrup Dinner would likely feature pasture-fed lamb, but could source other meats: -Algerian lamb shanks -Spicey Ma pow tofu - Savory lamb barley stew Interaction with GuestsWe must perform ongoing farm chores, irrigation, etc., but generally guests have their own private space. The NeighborhoodPedestrian friendly historic downtown Ellensburg just 10 minutes away. Galleries, shops, wineries, restaurants, Sat. Farmers Market. The SpaceOur two-bedroom apartment is quiet, clean and thoughtfully updated, and we think you'll find it to be quite a nice place to stay. With its own exterior entrance and no interior connection with the main part of the house, you will have the entire apartment to yourselves; there are NO shared spaces at any time. This is the LARGER version of our apartment listing. Right inside the door is a sitting area with two chairs and a table as well as a kitchenette with a small fridge, microwave, stove/oven, sink and basic cooking supplies for simple meal prep. At one end of this part of the apartment is the small bedroom with a queen bed and at the other end is the spacious bathroom with shower stall. Through a small passageway is the second bedroom with queen bed and a fold-out futon. Free WiFi, games and books are onsite. If you want to watch TV/movies, please bring your mobile device; there is no TV set. If you want to sit outside, there are two chairs right outside the door. See all photos, we've included pictures of the entire space. The *vast* majority of our reservations are for the smaller studio version of this same apartment. Please read the 75+ reviews on that listing, too, to see how we love taking good care of our guests! WANT A ONE-NIGHT STAY ON A WEEKEND? Weekends have a two-night minimum, but we can make just one night available for a $24 cleaning charge (still less than family suites at hotels!). PLAN TO ARRIVE ON A SUNDAY? If there are just 1-2 of you, and you don't need the elbow room, our other listing at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6853899 could accommodate you. It's the same exact space, just without access to the second larger bedroom. You will have a queen bed in the smaller sleeping room. You can visit that listing to book. The SpaceThe bedroom has a full bed suitable for two people. This is a bed smaller than a queen but beautifully appointed with down comforter and extra layers to sleep on for that cozy nights sleep. During the Fall and WInter months sleep in warm blanket sheets and cozy and soft blankets. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the living room with a piano for your use, siting room with TV, and kitchen for chatting, playing games. The patio is always welcoming for you to relax and have that first cup of coffee. Interaction with GuestsI will be available during your stay if you have any questions or concerns or need recommendations of places to eat or visit. The NeighborhoodA Cozy Place is near Central Washington University and the downtown area for lots of eateries, wine tasting rooms, bakeries and a great deli called the Daily Bread. Shopping, art galleries, book stores and one great antique store all right in the heart of Ellensburg. Other Things to NoteThe bed is suitable for guests under 6' tall, otherwise you might find a four poster bed a little difficult to sleep on. My dog's name is Gracie but because she is old may bark at times but she will soon warm up to you. I do restrict her to my room during your stay. Unless the guest specially asks that she come out. Even though this is a very quiet neighborhood and often times you can hear cows and coyotes it is a college town and there are students in every neighborhood and as such sometimes have an active lifestyle in the evening (but not often).

The SpaceThe James Ranch is 25 acres of ancient orchard. The house was built in 1898 but has been updated somewhat with more changes to come. What was once an orchard is now home to some very old unknown varieties of organic apricots, plums, apples, cherries, and the best pears you'll ever eat, as well as a few friendly goats and chickens. Enjoy roaming the property, hiking Manastash Ridge that rises directly behind the house, time on the patio, the gardens, or a friendly game on the basketball/pickleball court. In the mornings help yourself to fresh eggs, homegrown organic raspberry jam and locally owned and roasted coffee from D&M Coffee Co. Well behaved pets considered, events considered upon approval. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and property. Interaction with GuestsI'm very accessible and accommodating, especially if I know of any needs of guests in advance. Other Things to NoteWell behaved pets considered, events considered upon approval.

The Overlook sits at the end of a country road with a mesmerizing view of the Kittitas valley and Stuart Mountain. The view on the balcony is hard to resist whether you're watching the sun rise or gazing at the stars. The kitchenette is well supplied, the bed is comfortable, and the nights are quiet and dark. You just might not want to leave, but if you do, downtown Ellensburg is only 20 minutes away and Yakima is about a 35 minute drive.
