The mountain setting of this small, beautiful home is perfect for a get-a-way from the world and is located just 17 miles west/south west of Helena in the historic, small town of Rimini. Historic Rimini: The Ten Mile drainage was a poor producer of placer gold. But things got moving in the late 1870s with the development of lode or underground mining on Lee and Red Mountains. Historic Rimini was quickly borne and by 1890 it comprised several hotels and stores; a school; saloons, gambling houses and pool halls; livery stable; physician’s office; church; several boarding houses; and a sawmill. About 300 people lived there. The Helena and Red Mountain Spur Line gave the community a socioeconomic boost. But the community quickly went into demise at the turn of the 20th Century. By 1920, only 20 people lived there. Today, Rimini has a growing population of year-round residents. It retains a number of picturesque buildings (many being renovated by their owners) dating from about 1885 to 1900. You can still pick out Rose Wilson’s store, the Red Mountain Tavern and the old livery-garage. The restored Rimini School-Community Center was built in 1904. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Our home is a small gem of 1300 square feet with vaulted ceilings in the great room. The kitchen is fully stocked and equipped with new appliances and solid surface countertops. The kitchen does not have a dishwasher. The main floor also boasts 2 bedrooms, full bath and entry porch. The loft has a third bedroom with half bath, family room with TV, sofa that makes into a 4th bed and a special hideaway for the kids. Our home is conveniently situated to enjoy outdoor activities such as hunting, biking, fishing, snowmobiling or ATV right out your front door. Take a walk through historic Rimini, the environmental trail along Ten Mile Creek or you may want to visit other historic sites in the Ten Mile drainage. Check out this link for more details. Also located within a short distance are many scenic trails and access to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. You may choose to travel a little farther into Helena for shopping, dining, cultural, historic and arts opportunities. The Helena Symphony (Helena Symphony under the stars - free concert outside at Carroll College), Community Band Concerts, Helena Stampede and Rodeo, the Farmers Market (Saturdays during the summer and fall), the Brewers Baseball Games and Montana Shakespeare in the Park (Helena and Boulder) are all wonderful events to attend. The Helena area also boasts some of the best mountain biking in Montana. In the summer you can explore the South Hills trails or you can ride the Rails to Trails up Grizzly Gulch to the Mount Helena Ridge Trail head and bike the 6 miles back to Helena along the Ridge trail. You may choose to spend a morning hiking to the top of Mount Helena or an afternoon swimming in Spring Meadow Lake. Soak at the Boulder Hot Springs 20 minutes to the south or take a day trip to the Gates of the Mountains, Yellowstone National Park, historic Butte or the Grant Kohrs Ranch in Deer Lodge, or float/fish the world renowned Missouri or Madison Rivers!
