There are two studios in the building which share the kitchen. Its not used a lot - once guests find the food outlets in King Street they seem to find the kitchen far less interesting. But we are available to help make your stay in Newtown memorable. The NeighborhoodWhat's not to love? Its funky, its lively, its all happening around King Street. The SpaceWe have recently renovated our self Contained Studio Apartment at the back of our property. It is bright and spacious with everything you could need for your stay. There is separate access from the side lane so you can be as private as you like but we are available for advice should you need it. The studio is set up for two adults however we are happy to accomodate families with a vast amount of kids paraphernalia around that you are welcome to borrow. Location: The studio is adjacent to Carriageworks with its multiple performance spaces, saturday farmers market and monthly artisan market. The local streetscape is quiet with beautiful mature english plane trees lining both sides. We are very centrally located in Sydney with the CBD only 2 train stations away, or a 30 minute walk. Our nearest station is MacDonaldtown which is 2 minutes walk away. Within 10 minutes walk of the studio is a multitude of restaurants, cafes and shops on the culturally vibrant King street. Sydney University, UTS University and RPA Hospital are also very close. Accomodation: It is a fully renovated light filled studio with 1 Queen Size Bed with crisp white sheets and comfy pillows. There is also: Kitchennette (Single hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, saucepans, utensils, cuttlery & crockery etc.), Separate bathroom with shower, TV, Wireless Internet, Air conditioning, Washing Machine, Ceiling Fan, Travel cot and foam mattress on the floor for children available if requested. Guest AccessGuests have access to the garden on the way to the studio. The garage is often left open to the garden and it useful for storing bags if you arrive early or need to catch a late flight. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the main house, while the studio is at the end of the garden above the garage. So we are close by to say hi, give tips on where to go and help out if you need anything but otherwise we don't often see a lot of the guests that have stayed so far. Access is through a separate gate into the garden with the studio entrance off the garden. On weekends if we are not sailing then the kids will often be playing in the lane and garden. I am in and out most days so I tend to leave the key for guests in a key safe by our front door. The NeighborhoodNewtown is very funky and ecclectic. The suburb has gentrified a lot in the last 20 years so it has a suaver edge to the grittiness. King St is the main street with up and coming designer shops and every kind of restaurant you could dream of. Over the last few years there has been a bit of a baby boom in the area which has made it very child friendly. Getting AroundWe are very close to Macdonaldtown train station (2 minutes walk) and redfern station (15 minutes walk). There are many buses that run along king street which is 5 minutes walk away. If you prefer to walk, the city is only about 30 minutes walk away. Other Things to NoteWe are close to the railway (approximately 100m, obscured by trees) so trains can be heard from the studio however I have improved the sound insulation of the window towards the railway. The sounds is fairly muffled and earplugs are available if the noise bothers you.

The SpaceThe 1890s house features original timbers and new Australian hardwoods, an Australian native plant-filled sunny courtyard garden, a quiet attic master bedroom and is located on one of Erskineville's most desirable streets. The little village with its cafes, bakery, pubs, interesting local shops, two small but well supplied supermarkets, and little parks is just a quick jaunt down the street. The house is located close to two different train lines to the city (6 mins to town) but the trains are a distant sound. There's a bus to Bondi Junction and buses in nearby Newtown to just about everywhere. It's 5 min to Carriage Works theatre/gallery/market precinct. 5 min walk to quirky King Street, Newtown with its cafes, shops music venues and boutique galleries, 10 min walk to Sydney University and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, 20 minutes walk or a few minutes on the bus, to the funky suburb of Glebe. Realistic 25 minute drive to the beaches of Clovelly, Coogee, Tamarama or Bondi. From the front of the house - down the front hallway past an office (locked for storage) you come to the large kitchen in the heart of the house with its rustic trolley table (and coffee machine!). It includes washing machine and laundry tub. Then the dining/piano room (beside fern-filled small garden), and finally the living room with glass doors onto the native garden courtyard - with sandstone pavers, bbq and washing line. On the second floor you'll find a large bedroom with a single bed for a child - we can put a comfortable Thermarest sleeping mat or two on the floor for additional children. It has lockable french doors to the balcony, which features traditional lacework iron railings. The floor is of original kauri pine timber and is a deep honey colour. There's a generously sized bathroom with large bath and separate shower, and there's a separate toilet. The top floor is the peaceful attic/parents retreat (carpeted) with Velux windows/blockout blinds and suburban views over rooftops to south-eastern Sydney. The terrace house is 4m wide - so most spaces are approx 4msq - the attic a bit larger, the dining room and bathroom a bit smaller. The home has Aboriginal art and landscape photographs throughout, a solid Sydney blue gum splashback in the kitchen, and other timber feature furniture. Timber floors throughout. Original 1890s (rustic but beautiful!) red cedar frames around doorways. Gas stove/electric oven, instant gas hot water, washing machine and microwave, aircon/heating in the living room. No dryer, for environmental reasons, but summer sun will do the job in a few hours. The house is a quiet, comfortable, family home. We have three lovely cats - a cuddly and playful boy, an independent and shy fella and a smoochy girl - all very child friendly. We can take them away with us, or if you enjoy feline company, we can leave them with you. If you take the week including New Year and you'd like to stay a couple of extra nights we can do that free of charge. Just ask. Guest AccessGuests have access to the house and garden. One room locked off. Interaction with GuestsThe house will be entirely yours for the period of the rental. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood has a village feel in the heart of the city. It's friendly, vibrant, full of restaurants, bars, boutique fashion and quiet residential streets. Getting AroundLots of public transport - buses to the beach and two different train stations, on different lines, which take you to the city. Each station within 200 m but train noise is distant. Other Things to NoteAs this is our beloved family home, we welcome families, older couples or people with good Airbnb references. It is not suitable for young adults planning to have parties, sorry! And do please ensure you have a full profile with photo, full name, and some details about yourself - who you are, what you do and why you're travelling for example - remember Airbnb is a trust arrangement - here's some advice for first timers! https://www.airbnb.com.au/help/article/67

The SpaceA modern double story terrace house, tastefully furnished with everything you need at your fingertips. We have a 3 large bedrooms with whom we're looking to share this fantastic space with like minded travellers from around the globe. Our guest/s would share all communal spaces with us. The room in question is adequately sized at the rear of the house (facing the sunshine) with loads of storage. You'll share access with our bathroom, as we also sleep upstairs (there is another bathroom downstairs however). The house is plenty big for all of us. The kitchen is completely decked out with an espresso machine, great cookware and gear. Big BBQ in the backyard should the weather permit, along with plenty of space on the clothes line if you need to do some washing. The area is awesome, filled with many food and beverage options. There's several supermarkets in the area and great transport connections to almost everywhere in Sydney. While the place is not air conditioned or heated, the many large windows and doors open to allow for a breezy environment maintained with ceiling fans throughout the house and plenty of warm fixtures for those breezy nights. Guest AccessYou've pretty much got access to anything you want, all areas except for the bedrooms are shared. Interaction with GuestsThe two of us are always in and out of the house. I travel a fair bit for work, but when at home happy to hang out and give you all the ins and outs of the area. When in Sydney, - as is Egle - hospitality based so in and out at nights. The NeighborhoodNewtown is hip, cool, filled with food and drink options with plenty of live music venues and great bars...you've got no reason to leave (except to explore the city or to get down to the beach of course...both within a short distance away). We've a list of cool places to check out on request also. The SpaceWhilst our terrace may be small, it is cute and makes good use of the available space. We have polished concrete floors and open plan living room and galley style kitchen. Guest AccessThe only area off limits is the upstairs balcony (facing the street). All kitchen utilities are available. Interaction with GuestsInteraction will be through either our neighbours or close personal friend who will be overseeing our property The NeighborhoodErskineville is a residential inner city suburb with a village-type atmosphere. It is host to several popular bars and hotels including the Rose of Australia, the Imperial Hotel, Erskineville Hotel, the Hive Bar and The Kurrajong. Erskineville is a popular location with residents because of its proximity to the city, cafes and village atmosphere. These features also make real estate expensive in this area, considering the small size of most properties. Getting AroundSuper close to Erskineville train station. Taxi to the city will cost about $15-$20 Street parking is available in the surrounding streets Other Things to NotePlease note that 1 bedroom has a double bed and in the other bedroom there are 2 single beds (one is a roll out from under the main single bed) There is one air conditioning unit in the front upstairs bedroom - we find this does a good job of cooling both the upstairs bedrooms. Also as we have young children there is some wear and tear on the furniture. By this i mean drink/food stains on the couch (cleaned, but can still slightly visible). Also on the lounge chair are some marks.

I have maps and information to provide for your visit and enjoy sharing information of all Sydney has to offer. Alternatively, if you like privacy I respect that and you will find the bedroom and house large enough to find your own space. Look forward to having you in Newtown. Newtown is very convenient to the Airport and Sydney's CBD. The Sydney University and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital are also within a short stroll away. Once a modest working class area, Newtown now boasts one of the most popular restaurant strips, which this city has to offer. Excellent eating from many nationalities abounds here. Best of all you don't have to be on an endless budget to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our local area is now one of the most sought after residential addresses for Sydney-siders. Businesses, particularly restaurants, have flocked to King Street, which is at Newtown's heart. The area is well serviced with smart shopping and is now is a far cry from its modest beginnings in the 1960's. Culturally Newtown is like no other suburb in Sydney, or, quite possibly, Australia. Here is the highest concentration of live theatre venues found anywhere in the country. Newtown is now a stimulating melting pot of society. Walking down King Street you can pass Uni students, colourful artists, same-sex couples, elderly locals, wealthy professionals and young families. Newtown's café culture offers a perfect opportunity to sit back and absorb the surrounding atmosphere. Also nice to have a chat and catch up if they want to. Access to upstairs bedroom is up the stairs as soon as you come in front door so you do not need to walk through whole house which can give you more privacy also. The NeighborhoodIt is where Sydney siders come on the weekend. Lively, interesting, friendly and close to everything. Unique Victorian terrace houses on tree lined cute streets, then around the corner a funky vintage shop or rooftop bar or Thai restaurant. The SpaceI have been told many times that I couldn't have scored a better location to live. Its just off the main road so avoids most the noise but literally 20 steps and you are in the heart of the coolest place in Sydney. The house is an open great space with plenty of natural light. Guests have a private medium sized room with a very comfortable, expensive queen bed. Your room also has a small TV connected to a Playstation 3 which gives you access to Netflix for those nights you want to relax and watch something in bed. The unit has a private door you can easily drop in and out of (no doorman, lifts, buzzers etc.). It exits straight out into an alleyway just off king st. The Kitchen is nice and open with everything you need to make a feast. For anyone who loves a coffee and can brew a great espresso, there is a proper espresso machine to love and use for those baristas out there. Guest AccessAs a guest you will have access to fast unlimited wireless internet, Netflix in your room, a well functioning kitchen, a space in the fridge for yourself, washer dryer, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Its a shared house so you get to use anything that isn't inside our bedroom basically when its not already occupied of course. Interaction with GuestsAs hosts we work or are occupied with our own passions most days of the week leaving you to have the house to yourself during the day. during the evening we are either out seeing a movie at the cinema across the road, going to dinner or seeing friends in the area. If we are around we will usually be somewhere in the house reading or relaxing. I, Daniel, will be cooking up storms and enjoying many glasses of wine during the evening and we both are friendly and approachable and love a good chat. But also if you like your peace and quiet we are very observant and respectful for those who like to keep to themselves and will give you all the space you may need. The Neighborhoodits very close (5 minute walk at most) to the train station, and buses are regular to any direction into or out of the city that stop one street over. So basically public transport of all kinds is remarkably close to where you will be staying. To go anywhere its just minutes away to start your journey. There are markets down the road every weekend, be it 2 minutes walk away on King street or 10 minutes walk down Wilson St, many live venues for music, comedy, or other performances in the area and a hundred other exciting adventures happening regularly. There is so much going on very close by: neat boutique shops, cinemas, plays, art, comedy, gigs, markets and more plus the food, OH! the food; fancy, gourmet, cheap, ethnic, organic, vegan, vegetarian, diet friendly, very late, fast, best, wild, weird and so much more. There are more cool pubs, bars, beer gardens and your holes in the wall centralised left and right from our home than anywhere in Sydney. There's a grocery store across the road, one 1 minute down the road, a gourmet grocer 5 minutes up the road and another 8 minutes the other way so you're covered. There are great places to shop and look around for art, gifts, trinkets, vintage, handmade and all sorts of stuff. If you want to stay in the most exciting and eventful area of Sydney, look no further than Newtown, If you want to have a great place to stay look no further. Getting Aroundgetting anywhere is a pinch and quick. If you want to visit the centre of Sydney its no more than a few minutes on the train, which is 4 minutes walk away, or a bus which is one minute away. There are also buses that will take you straight to Bondi or Coogee beach. Taxis that you can hail any day or night will drive down King street (20 steps away) regularly, even at 4am if need be. If you drive there is a free but timed parking all over the place as well as a few great spots on the street and back streets to leave your car during your whole stay. Other Things to NoteWe live in Sydney, in the heart of Newtown, one of us born here and one has come from abroad. With the two separate experiences we have a plethora of great advice to make your stay in this fantastic city even better. We pride ourselves in our ethical and sustainable lifestyle, any of your organic waste will be fed to our hungry worm farm and we recycle whatever we possibly can. We buy almost all our groceries organic, local and in recycled containers we take to the store ourselves.
