Enjoy the peace and seclusion of The Outpost; the river so close it feels like part of the cabin decor! The setting is at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and at the edge of the Cherokee National Forest. A creek and pond on the property enhance the experience. Rustic, clean and welcoming cabin, well appointed kitchen, screened pavilion with fireplace and ceiling fans, the Lido Deck with ceiling fans, lower deck, River Porch, Pond Porch, gas grill, comfortable outdoor furniture, large lawn/fields, wood for campfires, hammock, swing, and the list goes on. All for your perfect vacation on 8 1/2 acres. For the full river experience kayaks can be provided for $40 per boat per stay. Enjoy fishing, floating, and kayaking right outside your door. There are regular sightings of deer and turkey and an occasional bear! Otters provide occasional entertainment as they fish in the pond and river. Evenings are best spent gazing at the stars and enjoying the songs of frogs and cicadas. Wildlife abounds! The cabin has 3 bedrooms and there are 2 futons for additional sleeping. Each bedroom has French doors that open up to the Pond Porch, so members of your party can meet each morning with coffee cup in hand, ready to reminisce about adventures experienced and to plan for your day ahead. Food tastes better while dining outside and taking in the surroundings! And though you may think you will want to forgo the culinary labors while on vacation, you may think otherwise when you see the view from the kitchen. You will be a short distance from Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee. Storytelling is a huge attraction here and the town hosts the International Storytelling Festival. Unique dining venues and shops. Home to a local brewery and a distillery. Greeneville is also a short drive and is the home of our 17th president, Andrew Johnson. History abounds in this small town. There are many destinations you will enjoy within the Cherokee National Forest. The Nolichuckey River provides many activities. North Carolina is a short drive and there you can enjoy the Pisgah National Forest, the Paint Creek Corridor, (great for bicycling), and the French Broad River. Hot Springs is one of our favorite destinations, as is Asheville! There are local family restaurants within miles of the cabin. Numerous activities and attractions are within a short driving distance, including white water rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, zip lines, bicycling, hiking, mineral baths in Hot Springs, The Appalachian Trail, Nascar Bristol Motor Speedway, Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Biltmore Estates, vineyards, microbreweries, (schedule a Brews Cruise trip!), beautiful lakes; too much to mention here!
