The SpaceYou’ll have private outside stairway access to this 1800 sq ft second floor suite with its many windows and panoramic mountain views. The suite’s open floor plan creates a casual, relaxing atmosphere that will accommodate your entire family or group in comfort—or keep the entire suite for just the two of you! Vaulted ceilings, faux antique walls, knotty aspen ceilings, and rustic post and beam accents provide a spacious, homey feeling throughout. You can cook your own meals in the fully furnished kitchen, or eat out at one of several seasonal restaurants a few miles away. You’ll find the two full baths and washer/dryer handy for cleaning up after a long day of outdoor excitement. When you return to the house to rest from your adventures, curl up on the comfortable couches in the great room to watch a favorite movie on the flat-screen TV and DVD player, or surf the web and send pictures of your unforgettable experiences to your friends and family at home using the high speed wi-fi access. The north bedroom features alcove play areas the little kids will love to come home to. Guest AccessOutside your getaway home is a large, grassy area for your recreational use. Kids will enjoy playing games on the grass, going down the sixteen-foot tube slide, or exploring the nearby creek. Soak in the ambiance of warm summer evenings around the outdoor fire pit as you toast marshmallows and watch the stars appear. Walk or jog around our private loop drive (5 laps = 1 mi), or around the 3 mile farm loop road. Interaction with GuestsOwners are always glad to share advice and knowledge of the local area, but will allow you your privacy as you enjoy the amenities. The NeighborhoodWe built our home here about 6 years ago, and the upstairs addition was just finished last fall (2014). Our home is located on what used to be the Rose family farm of approximately 70 acres. I grew up here, working the farm as a youngster with my dad and brothers. The farm has long since been divided up among family members, and the old corrals and barn in the hollow next to our home (Sunrise Hollow) had to be torn down, but the area still retains its peaceful atmosphere. Most of our 20 acres lie to the south of the house and consist of wild thickets and brush. The property is bounded 1/2 mile to the south by Henrieville Creek and is bisected near the house by another small creek locals refer to as Henrieville Wash. Kids love to play in the wash, but always come back muddy, so they will need an extra set of "mud" clothes and shoes if you allow them to explore there. There are restaurants in Tropic (8 miles away) and around Bryce Canyon City (17 miles away). The entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park is 20 miles away. Getting AroundWe are surrounded by the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument lands, which is a great place to hike and explore, but you will need a vehicle that can handle the unpaved back roads. A four-wheel drive is best but an all-wheel drive SUV will get you to most places, especially if it has a little higher clearance than a "street SUV". There is no public transit, taxi service, nor car rental close by.

The SpaceHoodoos Hideaway guest room is in Henrieville, Utah, on Scenic Highway 12. It is conveniently and centrally located between Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome Basin and Escalante. The house and yard are nicely maintained, with fruit trees and a garden. You have your own private room, with a full/double bed, en suite bathroom with toilet & shower. A portable A/C unit & heater, as well as ceiling fan are in the room for guest comfort. There is also a television with AppleTV. The guest room rate includes high-speed wifi, which is strong throughout the house, as well as in the lovely courtyard. Also included in the rate is one load of laundry per stay! Breakfast is included! If you love coffee, you have found the right place! My husband buys green coffee beans from Costa Rica and custom roasts it on site. I offer juice, tea, milk, almond or coconut milk, Utah's Aspen Mills bread for toast, (gluten free bread with advance notice) and organic eggs that are from our vegetarian fed, cage free chickens! Enjoy the beauty of the hills, as a scenic overlook is just a block away. There are many mini-farmettes in Henrieville. You can expect to hear country sounds of horses, sheep, a rooster or two, chickens, magpies, white-winged doves and the occasional dog bark. Hoodoos Hideaway is below a major flight path for high altitude airliners, so if you download the PlaneFinder HD app, you can discover who is up there. There are also great astronomy apps that will enhance your night sky viewing. I hope that you will enjoy the beauty of the property and the area as much as I do! Guest AccessGuests have access to the living room, as well as the kitchen to prepare meals and the dining area. Outside, the courtyard seating area, as well as use of the courtyard grill. There is a backyard bench for stargazing. Interaction with GuestsThis is an owner-occupied home. My husband and I will respect your privacy, although we are available to answer questions And we love to chat! Feel free to use the common living & kitchen areas between the hours of 6:00 am and 10:00pm. The guest room is private. Our bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from the guest room, in a wing separated by a long hallway and a divider door. We have one friendly, elderly dog, (a border collie/blue heeler mix) and 3 young, indoor cats. There are also some semi-feral neighborhood cats that visit the property. If you have allergies to animals, you might want to consider staying elsewhere. I do my best to keep the house clean; daily vacuuming area rugs, sweeping wood floors and opening windows for fresh air. The NeighborhoodHenrieville is a quiet, peaceful town with friendly people, located on Scenic Highway 12, at 6000 ft/1829 m elevation. Named for James Henrie, an early Mormon pioneer, the town was founded around 1878. Many historic buildings still stand. Henrieville has a US Post Office, but no other services. The town is in a valley, surrounded by beautiful hills and rock formations. There is a wonderful view of the area, including Powell Point, at the end of Center Street, just one block from Hoodoos Hideaway. Gas, groceries and a BBQ food truck are located in nearby Cannonville, a 5 minute drive west. Tropic is 10 minutes west and offers gas, groceries, restaurants & a food truck. Escalante is 35 minutes east and offers gas, groceries and restaurants. Please note: After October 31st, restaurant options are limited. It is a good idea to bring your own food from the two grocery stores nearby. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation available in Henrieville. You will need your own vehicle. Bicyclists do ride into town, although Highway 12 is a very busy highway in the summer. Guest parking is on our wide gravel driveway, which can easily accommodate large RV's. Other Things to NoteThere are no services in Henrieville, except for a US Post Office 2 blocks from Hoodoos Hideaway, on Highway 12. I recommend bringing nutritional bars, cheese sticks and other snacks. If you don't feel like cooking meals, there are restaurants in Tropic, including pizza, only a 10 minute drive to the west. Cannonville has fuel, a convenience store and a BBQ food truck, just a 5 minute drive west. Tropic has fuel, several restaurants, a hardware and a grocery store, just a 10 minute drive west. Bryce Canyon National Park is a 25 minute drive west, featuring several restaurants, including a Subway, which has breakfast sandwiches. Kodachrome Basin State Park is a 5 minute drive west, then 20 minutes south, through Cannonville. Escalante Visitor Center is a 35 minute drive east, on Highway 12. Escalante has fuel, restaurants (including a Subway) and outfitters. Prepaid cell service, such as ATT and Tracfone don't work here. Verizon prepaid works, but it is roaming. There is a 3G tower in Escalante. Verizon contract phones work here.
