The SpaceOur house provides the comfort and coziness factor while also being close to everything there is to do in the area. The bus stop is a few blocks away, sequoia park is only a mile from the house, old town (downtown area) is less than a mile away, and the freeway is a minute drive away as well. Everything there is to do in the area is a hop, skip, and a jump away. Upon request, we will provide you with a detailed and personalized itinerary for things to do, places to eat and drink, as well as the best-kept, local secrets of the area to make your stay a special one. Essentially, our house is conveniently located, our amenities and itineraries are unparalleled (just see the reviews), and you won't find a stay in the area like this for a more affordable price! Guest AccessWe offer Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, and coffee/tea in the morning. The waffle station is self-serve on mornings that I have to head to work early, but I try to be the one making your breakfast each day :) Some of the best waffles in town! In addition, we offer access to our : wifi, dvd player/cable/netflix, access to all of the appliances in the kitchen as well as space in the refrigerator. We have a small collection of instruments and books, as well as card games, which you will be allowed access to. Basically, we hope that you will make yourselves at home. If you have any questions during your stay, feel free to ask us :). Interaction with GuestsWe are outdoor enthusiasts! We love to talk to our guests and give recommendations about places to hike, bike, kayak, etc.We also provide a personalized guidebook on the night stand of the guest room containing all of our personal favorites for hikes, places to eat, and attractions of the area. We are very friendly people, and we are easily approachable. We have made good friends with some of our airbnb guest, made dinners together and watched sunsets with others, and we also have had much less interaction with other guests. We're fine with any of these options, and we realize that most of you have been traveling long distances to get here. Our top priorities are to greet you, make you feel at home, and get you the information you need on the area. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is close to just about everything that is awesome in the Eureka-area (when I say "close," I mean 1 mile to old town, 1 mile to the closest old-growth redwood park), as well as a perfect jump-off point for travels North and South. Getting Around1/2 a mile away is a bus stop that will take you anywhere you need to go in Humboldt county, and the freeway entrance is less than a mile away from our home. Other Things to NoteWe have found that we appreciate guests who are flexible, open-minded, and easy to please. We have received comments (few and far between) such as, "you should provide a towel warmer for guests in the bathroom," "your decor is college dorm room vs. chic," and "I could hear the hosts walking around during the day, so if you want complete privacy you might want to look into other options." These comments highlight the kind of guests we would prefer NOT to host. We are not interested in maintenance guests. Please choose our room if you are interested in having an affordable, extremely comfortable and clean stay, with hosts who are willing to go the extra mile to provide the best itinerary for the area and, most importantly, for you.

The SpaceIt's a Catalina 38 sloop, designed for the congressional cup race circuit with a nice comfortable interior. The cushions and upholstery are made of the best materials. The galley was updated in 2013. There is a cozy V berth upfront (bow) and pilot berth in the back (stern) for sleeping. You can lounge, play games, or surf the net in the main salon around the handcrafted table. If it's sunny (or at least not raining) the cockpit is nice to place to relax and get some fresh air. There is also a small table at the helm for cocktails. The head is nothing fancy, simple pump flush for number 1 use only please! There are nearby 24 hr. locked (after hours) restrooms 1 minute from the boat for other needs. Showers/laundry and the restaurant are a 2-3 minute walk down the boardwalk just 3 docks away, to D dock. The restaurant and bar are not fancy or expensive, just nice. The Marina is a popular place for locals to get breakfast on the weekend. The bar is usually open till 9 pm and if busy, stays open longer on weekends. Please visit our website by searching Sail Humboldt or First Class Sailing Humboldt for more pictures and details about our boat. Remember it's a boat, think camping on the water, but with nice mahogany interior and dry cushions. There are plenty of cozy blankets for your use as well as a heater if you feel at all chilly. The marina has a 24 hour surveillance system as well as a guard for your peace of mind. Guest AccessYou will be the master of the boat, and we are the crew! We will come by once a day to top up water if needed, check the head (pump out) and bilge and make sure everything is ship shape to your needs. There are some everyday things on the boat for you such as coffee pot, hot pot, fresh towels/shampoo etc. We also include coffee/sugar, fresh fruit (many items including coffee may be organic), snacks and a variety of organic teas. Please check the fridge for some additional goodies for you. Please know that for each extra set of bedding and/or towels for guest not sharing the primary berth, there is an additional $25 charge. Interaction with GuestsWe will need to meet briefly at the boat upon your arrival to go over basic information and access issues, and of course discuss how to use the head. Other than that we can talk about safety aboard and answer any questions you might have about Humboldt as we have lived here since 1989. For an additional fee, we can take you out for a 90 minute in bay sail. Please let us know if this is something you might be interested in. We usually go out for the sail shortly after your arrival. Our boat 'talk' takes about 10-15 minutes. The NeighborhoodWoodley Island Marina is the biggest Marina North of S.F. and South of Portland. It's a working marina with a lot of fishing vessels coming and going during the season. Just across the Channel (100 yards) is the Eureka Waterfront with a nice boardwalk with plenty of good eating and shopping. It's only minutes to some pristine beach and forest areas, natural food stores and award winning breweries. There's almost always something exciting happening in Humboldt!, Staying on a boat is one of our favorite vacations. If you're interested, we offer fishing trips, short or longer day sailing either in bay or out on the ocean as well as extended sailing trips to various locations. Please inquire about pricing as some things offered are discounted for our B&B customers. Getting AroundWe're on an island connected to Eureka and the waterfront by bridge. There are kayaks available for rent at the Marina and this can make access to the Eureka waterfront, which is just across the channel, a bit more of an adventure! Otherwise, it's about a 3 minute drive to Eureka and a 15 minute walk and a 10 minute drive to Arcata. Public transit is available but is limited and of course we have taxi companies. There is plenty of free parking at the marina and close to the boat for your vehicle. Please let us know if you need for us to make arrangements for you. We're happy to help. Other Things to NoteThe bay can be a sweet experience as the wildlife, both airborne and water dwelling, are often around the boat. The Eureka waterfront is quite charming with an old town feel. Horse drawn carriage rides, a quaint plaza, scrumptious restaurants and small shops abound for you to enjoy. We do provide games and computer monitor for movie viewing. Please know there is a $5.00 Wifi access fee if this is something you would like. We do have a blow dryer and many other necessities in case you forgot something! Showers which are a couple docks away do require between 2 and 4 quarters depending on how long you need a hot shower. It's 50 cents for each 15 minutes (don't panic if you have no quarters as we usually have a few extras down there). Also, please bring your non scuffing shoes ( no high heals ladies!!) as our boat gets very sloppy looking when dark soled shoes are worn. Thanks!

The SpaceSunny, clean, one bedroom, one bathroom apartment in Henderson Center area. Apartment is in my 1920, craftsman house, but is private with its own entrance. Comfortable queen sized bed. Full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, utensils, and cookware. I can provide a sleeping mat to accommodate one more person or a child. Will consider well behaved pets (extra $10 per night)... Windows do open and now have window screens. :) Cats live in the house, but do not go in the apartment. There is a neighborhood cat named Hank, who is very friendly and may greet you when you arrive. My house is centrally located in a nice neighborhood with many period houses - Victorian through Craftsman era. Visit the redwoods, the ocean, Humboldt Bay. It's a great place to stay if you are passing through for a night, on a business trip, or staying for a week to explore the north coast. I grew up in the area and will gladly recommend places to visit and restaurants, or just answer questions you may have about the local area. PLEASE INQUIRE ABOUT AVAILABILITY BEFORE SUBMITTING A RESERVATION REQUEST. THANK YOU! And whether you end up staying here or not, I'm happy to give recommendations and I hope you have a great time visiting this most beautiful area. Julie

The SpaceWake up to the sound of waves on a secluded beach! Our cabin is located on Oyster Beach, a 14-acre historic homestead outside of Eureka, CA. The cabin was once the caretaker's cottage for the homestead, and is located on the edge of the property, surrounded by wetlands, eucalyptus groves, and a 1/4 mile of white sand beach. The location feels remote, but downtown Arcata and Eureka are a 10 minute drive or even a long bike ride away. The cabin itself is a cozy 800-sq ft with water views from every room. It was built in the 1940s but renovated this year, using reclaimed materials and modern touches. Highlights include a clawfoot tub on the enclosed porch so you can soak with a view, full kitchen, gas fireplace, vintage furnishings, beachfront firepit, sleeping loft for two, washer/dryer, and crab pots for guests' use:(seasonal only: 1st Sat in Nov. thru July 30, make sure to grab bait from town). The cabin sleeps 4. However, there is a sleeping area in the loft for smaller children or young teens so it may sleep 6. There is a king-sized bed and a pull out couch in the Master Bedroom, a full-sized mattress in the cozy sleeping loft (only accessible by ladder, so best suited for older kids or laid-back adults). There are two other vacation rentals on the Oyster Beach property. Oyster Beach Escape is next door to the Mid-Century Waterfront and the other is on the opposite end of the property. The homes can be rented together to accommodate larger groups or special events. Attention has been paid to the design of each unit to maximize guest privacy.
