Evergreen is a great location to access ski areas like Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Keystone, and more via i70. Lots of sledding hills and beautiful Evergreen Lake for ice skating and hockey. My home is only about 1 minute from Hwy 74 and has easy access even in snowy weather. Guest AccessThe historic Little Bear bar is 5 min away and hosts rock and roll and country bands. Willie Nelson played there and many others. Interaction with GuestsLove to share my knowlege of wildlife, plants, native flowers, hiking and mountain biking trails, and the local restaurants, scenic drives, ghost towns, and interesting mountain villages. Also knowlegeable about Denver attractions. Also always glad to teach guests how to play hot dice, and play card games etc. I am interested in photography and have many pictures of my travels on the walls and happy to share experiences and beautiful places all around! The NeighborhoodI worked 10 years to create an 11 acre children's park 4 houses away. Great place to walk to for any children. Soccer field, junior baseball field, playground and Bob the dinosaur. My house is near the people path for walking and bike riding and goes for miles. Lariat Loop scenic byway nearby, as is Red Rocks ampitheater where U2 filmed thier famous concert. Scenic Bear Creek Canyon to the quaint town of Morrison. Near Dinosaur footprints park. Evergreen Park Lake is 3 min away. Of course many ski areas and tubing and sledding hills near as well. Colorado has so much beauty to offer(URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundLight rail goes from downtown Denver to the historic town of Golden where gold was first discovered and the home of Coors brewery. Golden has a world class kayaking water park. I am glad to drive visitors to the light rail line which is about 20 min away. A car makes many more activities accessible. 4WD is not necessary as all paved roads unless its a big snow storm. I do have parking.

The SpaceFool's Gold is a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage on Snyder Mountain 8700 feet up. It's a sunny south facing hacienda with a deck and scenic mountain views that overlooks protected BLM land making wildlife viewing incredible. Fool's Gold Cottage is located near the border of Jefferson and Clear Creek Counties, convenient to many outdoor activities including: rafting, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, running, mountaineering, mountain climbing, zip lining, elite athletic training, and hunting just to name a few. If you want to visit Denver, it's only a 50 minute drive. There are also plenty of trails right by the cottage. Fool's Gold was built in the 1980s. Her sister, The Gold Mine, the home we currently live in 150 feet from Fool's Gold, was built in the early 1970s and was the first house in the area. The paperwork we have on the home has President Grover Cleveland's signature on it when he signed the land over to be developed! Another fun fact, the former kitchen is featured in the Netflix horror movie, Paramedics! When Fool's Gold was built, it was basically a framed house with water, a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower pan, sink and toilet, and electricity. There was not any drywall or flooring. I used her for a while as my office until a neck injury prevented me for continuing that line of work. We have worked hard over the last ten years to get her ready for others to enjoy. We are currently remodeling The Gold Mine, our current house, who will become a prospective vacation rental the end of 2016. The roads to Fool's Gold are paved until you reach our subdivision. There is less than one mile of dirt roads to the cottage itself. Front wheel drive cars do just fine up here and the roads are well maintained. Rear wheel drive cars, some sports cars, and many Volkswagen brand cars do not do well up here. There are not any street lights in the neighborhood and many of the driveways are steep. We keep the driveways and walkways plowed and shoveled and provide ice melt for guests. *Because we live in Alpine conditions, please make sure that the cottage would be suitable for your family if you have children under the age of six, are elderly, or have a physical disability.* Up to one dog (two dogs with approval) is allowed on the property. We do have dogs on the property and they are in a separate fenced in area and we are very respectful in terms of barking, etc. We hope you stay with us and become a part of the Mile and a Half High Club! The SpaceUnique one room cabin nestled in the foothills above Denver. Surrounded by lilac trees and mountain roses in the summer and close to ski resorts in the winter. The space has a beautiful curved wood ceiling with numerous special touches. It has a DVD player, an MP3 player and high speed wireless internet access. You have a view of a 14,000 foot peak out your windows and a comfortable shaded bench out your front door under a towering tree to watch the elk, deer and foxes wander by in the stream filled valley below. Located within easy walking distance of downtown Evergreen and Evergreen Lake. We also provide a bike you are welcome to use. Evergreen is filled with galleries, specialty shops and restaurants and bars, many with live music. The lake has boats for rent in the summer and ice skating in the winter (named one of 10 most beautiful in the world by CNN!) and a beautiful path around it for a relaxing stroll anytime of the year. Fishing in the local streams and lake is always a treat for those inclined. An inexpensive but challenging public 18 hole golf course is just a short walk away and a world class private club less than 10 minute further. Evergreen is in the center of the foothills biking scene with incredible options in any direction. There are also 2 great recreation centers with pools, slides, weight and conditioning rooms. The beautiful public library is just a 10 minute walk over the hill,. Denver is 35 minutes away in one direction while the mountains are at your doorstep in the other, all on uncrowded 4 lane highways. You have the option of a half hour head start for world class Colorado skiing, hiking or biking in the high Rockies in one direction or just a short 35 minute trip down the mountain to the museums, plays, restaurants and sporting events of the Denver/Boulder metro area.     The SpaceThis ranch style large home is available a number of months if the year. It has three bathrooms and four bedrooms (two bathrooms are on suite). The master contains two beds one king and one full size. A second bedroom has one full size bed and a twin. The third bedroom has two twins and a babies cot. The fourth bedroom has a bunk-bed (the bottom bed is a full-size and the top a twin). This is set in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado not far from skiing and walking distance from the Lake and Downtown Evergreen.

    The SpaceWe offer a modern clean space. The space is accessed from your private entrance and includes a large studio-type layout with a queen bed and desk area in half and a kitchen living area with a settie/bed in the other half. The private bath has a shower. We offer a lite breakfast basket and coffee/tea. Rest and relax on one queen bed and one single bed-pad with bedding. Guest AccessGuests have full private use of the Elk House space, attached deck and yard area. Use the quiet garden bistro table for an evening cocktail or meal. Sit and scan the hillsides for wildlife and birds. Walk the grounds or rest on the hammock deck. The Elk House has a separate entrance and is completely separate but attached to our home. The main house back patio is a private area for the hosts. Interaction with GuestsWe specialize in a private experience but will be around to greet you and offer area information. The NeighborhoodYou are in a wild area. A bear could walk by or an Elk could bugle out your window all night. We have limited cell service but in an urgent need, you can use the house phone. I-Message is available for text messages on Apple products and email can be sent over the wifi. Some mobile providers have some service at the house. Data and service may be limited on the wifi due to our satellite service provider. Getting AroundYou will need a car! Any car will do but a 4X4 is preferred if the forecast calls for snow or a recent snow coats the roadways. The access road and driveway are maintained the entire year and passable to any vehicle. If your lucky, you will get snowed in for a few hours while waiting for the snow plow to make a pass. Other Things to NoteWe have a friendly dog. At this time we are not accepting reservations with pets. The short drive on Sawmill road is across a gravel surface. The surface can become a bit muddy in spots during rain and snow. The road is always passable by any passenger car 365 days of the year. There are occasional noises associated with a rural area such as dogs barking in the distance or the sound of a nearby horse. In general it is one of the most quiet peaceful places you can be.
