The SpaceWe are nestled at the end of the road, in the beautiful California foothills of Mehrten Valley. Sequoia National Park/King's Canyon entrance is 20 miles away on a scenic drive. At our ranch, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada foothills. The ranch is surrounded by orange groves, cattle ranches and wide open spaces. We are a real working ranch, devoted to showing guests the great central valley farm country. You will be staying in a lovely room featuring a queen size bed,a large closet and tasteful furnishings. From your room, you will enjoy a pictueresque view of the swimming pond and surrounding hills .Guest room has its own entrance via the covered patio, access to an exterior refrigerator where you can keep your own cool drinks or snacks.A microwave oven, toaster and coffee/hot drink maker are all right outside your door. . Your private bathroom with and laundry room are in a separate wing of the house and are for your use only during your stay. Covered parking right outside your room. The host is a fitness/dance professional and a champion equestrian, who will be happy to lead you in a dawn yoga class or evening pilates session, ( special guest pricing for personal training). The studio/gym is equipped with weight, mirrors, yoga mats, big balls, kettlebells, punching bags, most everything you need to get a good workout. The swimming pond is maintained without the use of harsh chemicals and has fresh water flowing through it every day. . Everyone loves to feel like a kid by jumping on the oversized trampoline or laying on it at night to stargaze. Take a bike ride or a stroll on our private country lanes. The surrounding rolling hills offer endless hiking opportunities. After a day touring the Park, come home to a campfire. All activities mentioned above are "on site" for the ultimate in convenience! We are completely organic and grow our own fruits and vegetables. We use solar to help power the ranch. We also raise our own chickens, as well as grass-fed beef. You can dine at one of the nearby gourmet, or casual, restaurants in either Exeter or Visalia, about 10-15 minutes away from the ranch! Visalia has the most gourmet restaurants of any city its size in the U.S. Monets and Cafe Lafayettes in Exeter are a bit of Paris right in the middle of rural California farm country. Tour around Exeter and see the renowned murals on the sides of the buildings, depicting past life in the small farm town. Eclectic shops and artist galleries are on the way to the Park in Three Rivers. For dining upscale or casual, including an extensive wine list and creative cocktails and a champagne Sunday brunch The Gateway is the place. It is a few yards from the entrance to Sequoia, with a great view of the river. Just 6 miles from the ranch, you can visit Lake Kaweah, where you can rent a house boat for the day. and swim or fish. What time of year should you experience Spring Hill Ranch. The Summer is the best for swimming and spending time in the Sequoias.,Fall is my favorite, the trees are beautiful and the heat is not so intense. The Park, in what we call Indian summer, or Autumn has a hint of crispness in the air, I find it very peaceful. Also it is not so crowded . Winter, in the Park is a winter wonderland, and in the valley it is cool and green. Perfect campfire weather. Spring time, the hills are green and full of flowers and you only need a light sweater, sometimes just a T shirt. . Spring Hill Ranch is unique in any season and our genuine hospitality is year round. Guest AccessUpstairs is our space. Live like we live. We ask that you do not fiddle with our tractors or other motorized implements. Interaction with GuestsSeems like everyone wants to hear our stories as we have led an unusual and rich life. Bob is an author, of liberty and spiritual books and I am a fitness dance person, so we love to share this with others. We take our cue from guests, as to how much interaction is desired.

The SpaceTravelers needing a base before going to the Sequoia National Forest will love this place. Lots of room inside an older, rustic home of 1600+ Sq feet. Relaxed space not stuffy or delicate. Man cave with a daughters touch. Now, this world traveling, empty nester, welcomes you. Plenty of parking for RV's. 3 miles from Hwy 198. River in the back yard is emotional..... rushing, trickling, pounding, roaring, puddle, ponding, streaming on any day, who knows what you are going to get. 33 miles from the Ash Mountain Entrance at the Sequoia National Park. No snow, road or travel issues here. Internet is satellite from DISH network they say 10 MBS, it is not cable and does not compare for data exchange like my office. Then again, this is an escape not an office. My old rustic home exists near Venice Hill, a Tulare County Landmark. The St. Johns river, in the backyard, is seasonal and the rain is making the river ever changing. The residence has a full kitchen, stove top and a large room air conditioner. Each room has an electric heater to accommodate warmth requirements. BBQ just outside the front patio runs on propane that I supply. Parking or areas for tents exist on the land for any size. The furnishings and décor have a cabin feel. The valley heat will always be something to contend with, especially in June. The high last year was 107 degrees F. (June 2015). In Winter temps can reach freezing 32 degrees F. I enjoy traveling and am a Fly Fisherman. I love the idea of having international guests stay here without any California or big city concerns for their safety, their equipment, language barriers or having a good time. I am very close and can assist with needs, translations, directions and advice. The home is on 3/4 of an acre. You get to use the entire house. Garage and the tool sheds adjacent to the home are off limits and are for maintenance and for my car. I can help with traveling ideas and needs. I speak Spanish too. The riparian area is a mix of hills, rivers, oaks and farm land. Many critters exist in the area such as; hawks, woodpeckers, bobcats, pesky raccoons, coyotes and herons. Gophers eat my lawn, roses and plants like it was candy. Closest shuttle to the Sequoia National Park during the summer is about 5 miles away at Hwy 198 @ Road 196. Summertime bus hours are frequent and the station is called the "Red Barn", Exeter. Rural areas around here require an auto. Remember the heat and the dusty nature of our summers. Sometimes mosquitos. Large valley oaks to the front and rear. Sometime dense fog in the winter. Kayakers this is a calm, class 3 or easier ride. I can help you shuttle gear upriver. My favorite river ride is from the Woodlake airport to my home. Just have to walk around four weirs...Seasonal ask about flow conditions. Parking is ample. Just park in front of the garage. or beside drive. Guest AccessI will unlock door and have the place ready or... I will give you storage code for keys or... Guests will be provided keys or access to them. We have a cleared 1/2 acre, the river, the home and the deck. Off limits are the maintenance shed and workshop with a garage. The river supports kayaks in good years.... and I forgot to mention that I have an archery target set up for archers needing 20-30 or 40 yards to practice. Interaction with GuestsI am a working man that can be reached easily and not far away. I am here to help, phone or in person. My wife speaks Hmong and is also area savvy. My daughter is an a graduate and has just joined the USAF. Spanish is spoken as well. Neighbors pets sometimes visit, an old labradoodle and a couple of fat cats, friendly and love BNbrS. The NeighborhoodAlthough just 3 miles from Hwy 198, it appears to be very rural. The residence exists on a single lane paved road. The only heavy use on Fisher Dr. occurs at 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, for fifteen minutes, when the workers at Monrovia Nursery a mile away, come and go. The nearest large City is Visalia, ten miles west, nearest fuel is about four miles away. Fast food and other conveniences are also near and on, Hwy 198. The St. John's river in the back yard is a ton of fun. River floats, fishing and kayaking is going to be great this spring. Lake Kaweah is 20 minutes east and they have a summer marina with many types of watercraft to rent. Hiking trails and a woodland sanctuary called the Kaweah Oaks Preserve is located two miles south. All these locations are on the Internet. Getting AroundNearest summer shuttle to the Sequoia National forest is a few miles away, at the Red Barn (Hwy 198 at Road 196). Fresno Yosemite Airport is one hour north. Visalia has a small airport. Bakersfield Airport is 1.5 hours away. International Tulare Agricultural Show, in Feb is 20 minutes away. Bike trails are just county roads that are a little rough but Mt. Bikes are a safe bet. Other Things to NoteGoing 40 miles east and up into the Sequoia National forest drops the temperature by twenty degrees. (Lodgepole) In the winter, 30-40 degrees is normal. Remember Check out time is 11:00 am, help out with this if the next family comes in right after. If no one follows, ask and late check out is possible, lastly, Occupancy tax is charged (to me) by this County, Thanks for staying.

Guest AccessGuests should feel free to use the living and family rooms, acre yard with large lap pool, covered patio, lower deck, fire pit, hammock, horseshoe pit and all outdoor furniture. The property has many big redwood trees, garden, patio with furniture and 30 yard pool. HOA requires guests to remain on our property unless accompanied by us. Limited use of the kitchen is fine: making sandwiches for lunch, reheating leftovers in the microwave. A refrigerator on the patio or a small area in the kitchen refrigerator is available to guests. Interaction with GuestsThis is our home so we are present most of the time. We will interact with guests providing conversation, home cooked breakfast of choice, answer questions about the area, maps of local town of Exeter's 30 outdoor murals, or allow privacy and breakfast only, if preferred. Highway 99 intersects Hwy 198 which goes by our road in about 20 minutes. 198 goes to Sequoia NP. Interstate 5 also intersects 198 which goes by our place but is an hour or so away. Other Things to NoteOur home is just off the main highway to Sequoia National Park and about 25 miles to the Sequoia National Park gate, and one and one half hours up the windy road to big trees. We are surrounded by citrus groves. The town of Exeter is 5 miles west of our property and we are 10 miles east of Visalia (vice-ale'-ee-u). The fee includes a 10 o/o county occupancy tax which must be paid. There are numerous restaurants available for dinner and nearby stores for lunch supplies etc. Guests may use the microwave and the kitchen to make sandwiches to take to the National Parks. Because of the danger with the unfenced pool and of possible presence of rattlesnakes, toddlers are prohibited.

The SpaceMy house is small and comfy. It's nothing fancy, but it's definitely a place where you can kick your feet up and feel at home. I would like my guests to feel safe, carefree and welcome. I have had a few complaints that my house is not clean enough. Please take in to consideration that I work two jobs. I have to rush home between jobs to get the house ready for the next guest. I change the sheets, put out clean towels, and make sure the bathroom and kitchen are clean. The rest of the house I try to keep tidy. My house is very "lived in". I have a dog... he sheds... a lot. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel with maid service, my house might not be the right place for you. However, If you can appreciate inexpensive accomodations with a comfy bed, clean sheets, and a friendly host... then this is definitely the place for you!!! Guest AccessGuests have full house privileges. The guest room has a queen sized bed. The couch is really comfortable for a third guest. I also have a queen size air mattress if there are 4 guests. The bathroom has a shower (but no bath tub). The kitchen has a gas stove/oven, toaster oven, electric tea kettle and coffee maker. I don't usually have a lot of groceries so I encourage guests to bring their own food for preparing meals. Interaction with GuestsI love hanging out with my guests when I have the time. I like to BBQ and listen to music, kick back and drink a few beers. I work full time and I teach piano after work so I don't get home until around 8:00pm weekdays. Guests are free to come and go as they please. There is a house key in a lockbox on the front door. The NeighborhoodFrom my house it is 28 miles to the ENTRANCE to The Sequoia National Park (30 minute drive). Once in the park, it is about 1 hour drive to the Visitors Center and the General Sherman tree. It is about 1.5 hours drive to Yosemite from Exeter. San Francisco is 4 hours from Exeter. Death Valley and Joshua Tree are 5 hours from Exeter. Exeter is a really small town. There are a few good restaurants and one bar that is a lot of fun. Getting AroundThere is a city bus that goes from Exeter to Visalia. Also there are shuttle buses that go up to The Sequoia National Park. But the pick-up location is about 5 miles from my house. I would definitely recommend having a car. Other Things to NoteMy dog, Butchie, loves people! If you are arriving when I am not at home, Butchie will bark when you are at the door. I promise he is a very nice dog and he will be happy to meet you when you open the door! Unfortunately, he does not get along with other animals so I am unable to host guests with pets.

The SpaceThis is no dude ranch! This is a scruffy but secluded, quiet place at the edge of the wilderness with a 38' King of the Road 5th Wheel. At present, there is no WIFI or television, although AT&T phone signal for internet is very strong (I cannot vouch for any other provider, sorry!). HORSES WELCOME. Good place to ride and keep horses. There is a corral area to keep horses. Guest AccessYou'll have access to the entire 13 1/2 acres to explore and hike. It's all fenced so you'll know where property boundaries are. Interaction with GuestsI'll be glad to greet you when you arrive and go over the particulars of the 5th wheel, then I'll leav you to your solitude - only a text or phone call away if anything comes up, like a malfunctioning smoke alarm or lighting the oven. The NeighborhoodSierra Bella Terra is at the end of a paved road. Great place for walking, horses, cycling, etc. Other Things to NoteAutumn and winter are beautiful times in the foothills - cool weather, the time the bullfrogs seem to be everywhere. After a few rains, the hills turn green from the golden brown of summer. Inside the 5th wheel you can keep warm by an electric fireplace and a portable electric heater or the propane heater if you need to. Spring is a time of wild flowers - poppys, lupins and mustard, and grass grows almost four feet high! Please also be aware that from early spring to mid fall there are rattlesnakes in the area, even though if you hike extensively on the ranch, chances are you will not come upon one, but be watchful for them, especially around the rocks. The rule of thumb is, be as watchful to your surroundings as you would be cycling in a busy city. Please do not allow small pets or children to be unsupervised. As there are wild animals up there. In the summer time, the days are HOT - sometimes over 100. AC works fine, especially at night, but doubtful on these hot days it'll freeze you out. Also, of the dry grass, brush & high fire alert, PLEASE, NO OPEN FIRES during the dry months. Sometimes there is a water pressure problem. I am making steps to remedy this with a water pressure booster. The water heater is only 5 gallons, and with water pressure issues, sometimes it's only a trickle of water - not enough to have a torrent of water, but enough to get clean. I will remedy this as soon as I can, but until then, 'it is what it is' :)
