The SpaceSunny and cheerful space. Living room, dining room, kitchen, sunroom on the first floor and three bedrooms each with a Full size bed on the second floor. The house has a small backyard and a charcoal grill for the warmer times of the year and is perfect for small get-togethers. Guest AccessGuests have a private driveway, backyard, and first and second floor living space access. It's like being at your own home! Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help orient our guests to the area and are nearby to assist during stays. The NeighborhoodQuiet, friendly neighborhood. This house is centrally located. Walk to local events like PEA Alumni Days, the Independence Day Festival, or the Annual Beer and Chili fest. Enjoy local restaurants and the historic walking trail too. Lots to do and see and a playground up the street for the kids. Getting AroundGetting to/from town is walkable. Beaches and nearby towns will require a car. Local car rental available. Convenient access to Amtrak Downeaster train travels to/from Boston or to/from Portland, Maine. Other Things to NoteDue to the age of the house (1870's) the house does not have central air conditioning. There are multiple in-window air conditioners for the house but not in all rooms. Box fans are also provided to move the air efficiently. While most summer days here are not overly hot, we do get some stretches where it can be. Similarly, in the 1870's New Englander style homes they made staircases, like the one to the second floor in this home, more narrow and a little steeper than is the standard for new construction these days. While many consider this part of the charm of our house we mention it here if for some reason your personal steadiness on a stairwell is a concern as all bedrooms are located on the second floor.

The SpaceOur charming guest room has two twin beds and accommodates two people comfortably. The bathroom next to the guest room is "semi-private." There is only one bathroom on the second floor which we normally use ourselves, but when we have guests we will primarily use the bathroom on the first floor, so that you will have privacy. And we keep it squeaky clean. However, the second bathroom is a half-bath, so we do share the shower/bath with our guests. Guest AccessWe have a comfortable library/guest lounge with a piano and wood-burning fireplace, and cable TV. It's available 24 hours a day during your stay. There is also a cozy breakfast nook where we provide continental breakfast, as well as tea and coffee throughout the day. You are welcome to use our kitchen during your stay so long as you clean up after yourself. If you would like to have dinner with us, we welcome you, but it's on a catch-as-catch-can basis (i.e., when Kate is cooking). She focuses on eclectic healthy eating, leaning toward vegetarian. Dinner charge is $20 per person (including wine). Interaction with GuestsOne of us is nearly always in the house and available to speak with you or provide you with anything you may need. We'll also give you our cell-phone numbers so you can reach us when you're not in the house.
