If you're bringing kids, we've got plenty of books, toys (Legos, blocks) and other toys so you don't have to pack a ton of entertainment. Interaction with GuestsWe usually don't see guests unless they have booked a long-term stay and we swing by to pick up mail. The NeighborhoodOur block is a safe and friendly cul de sac located within walking distance of markets.
Fairfield/Southport is an ideal get-away for adults, athletes, families and singles, thanks area's fabulous restaurants and bars and amazing outdoor life. Take a romantic walk on the beach or catch some live music at Fairfield Theater Company, one of several venues. Theater goers may want to check out Westport Playhouse, founded by the late Paul Newman, which is down the road or head up to New Haven.
Athletes: We are 10 minutes from a ropes and zip line course, close to the Aspetuck Nature Reserve, with miles of woods and trails for hiking or mountain biking. Beaches have swimming and there are a ton of weekend summer road races, including a weekly summer racing series in nearby Westport and the Fairfield Half Marathon, for those who wish to participate.
For those who want to stay longer and explore Connecticut, we are about an hour from Old Lyme and Mystic, outlet shops, close to Yale, and more hiking/beaches.
In short, you can come and relax and unwind at the house or be as active and entertained as you want. Getting AroundThere are taxi cabs at the train stops, but if you wish, we are close enough to walk or bike to two Metro-North train stations (Fairfield Metro station, 1.07 miles away, and Fairfield station, 1.3 miles away) that go to New York City or up to New Haven.
The bus stop is just outside of our cul de sac, and the local taxi cab company can whisk you to where you want to go, get you to the train station, etc. Two car rental agencies are within a half mile from the house.
