The SpacePlan now for early fall in New England. Many dates still available. Our three bedroom house comfortably sleeps four to six people. It is in Pineloch Woods, a nice development near the Presumpscott River Preserve in North Deering, about 20 minutes north of the Old Port and downtown Portland on Rt. 295. Still a "new" house at only twelve years old, it has cherry hardwood floors downstairs and upstairs, with carpet in the bedrooms. The entrance hall and graceful staircase are unique, as is the artistic, spare interior design. The large master bedroom features a king bed, bathroom with double sinks and jetted tub, and dressing room. Down the hall near the stairs are two more bedrooms each with queen beds. The third floor is is a lounging area with wide screen TV and sofa-like Yogibo beanbag couches, the other side has twin beds, bureau, closet, desk. Games are on third floor, toys in the closet of the queen bedroom on second floor next to the guest bathroom. Cooking families will enjoy the a new gas cooktop, two ovens, two sinks, dishwasher, disposal, and microwave. There is wireless internet throughout the house. The back yard is yours to play in, sit around on the deck and look at, or just relax on the chaises. Families with little kids, teen agers who like to run and get outdoors, and older folks all enjoy Pineloch Woods. The most special walk is straight up Pineloch Drive to Summit, then right to Oak Notch park, where the Presumpscot River Preserve trails down to the river are on your left. Guest AccessPark in the driveway and on the street. Keys are in a lockbox on the back deck door, combination given in later email. Pineloch Woods is a quiet development just off Allen Avenue, streets are not busy. Guests have access to the second floor laundry room with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board, the downstairs study, and the third floor carpeted TV/playroom with floor seating—no drinks allowed up there—as well as the front and back yard with deck—plus the rest of the house. Only the upstairs study and basement are off-limits. Interaction with GuestsWe're only a text, email, or phone call away to help you and answer any questions. We love to recommend restaurants, and you'll find a basket of maps and suggestions for great things to do: Casco Bay cruises, nearby beaches, island-hopping, the Arts District, where to find great music and shopping. Our next door Portland neighbor at 149 Pineloch Drive are Pam and Tom Leahy. They can help you with anything that needs immediate attention. We'll respect your privacy; but contact us by text or email through Airbnb if you need anything. The NeighborhoodNorth Deering is 20 minutes from the center of Portland, where you can visit the Old Port with its spiffy and quite individual stores and restaurants, amazing fish stores, Cosco Bay cruises, and excursion ships. The Portland Arts Museum, lots of live music venues and theaters make up the Arts District up the hill on Congress Street and the streets just off of it. It's fun to walk up from the Old Port through Monument Square to the shops and restaurants on and to either side of Congress. Beautiful Deering Oaks Park down the other side of Longfellow Square has a Farmer's Market on Saturday and is lovely to hang out in. Favorite restaurants downtown: Green Elephant for kids and adults in the daytime, more elegant Bono at night (Thai vegetarian); Bao Bao for dumplings on Spring near High Street, Mi Sen Noodle Bar; Duckfat, the new Continental Provisions; Aurora Provisions (for lunch) on Pine just beyond the Longfellow Statue. Don't miss the International Cyrptozoology Museum; the view of the harbor from beautiful Western Promenade, a park off an area of big lovely houses. Munjoy Hill is historically fascinating at the opposite Eastern Promenade. Drive over the Casco Bay Bridge to South Portland for the best beaches for kids in Cape Elizabeth—Crescent Beach State Park and Two Lights State Park; visit the lighthouse at Fort Williams' Portland Head Light. Favorite nighttime hot spots with live music are One Longfellow Square, The State Theater, Space, Port City Music Hall, among others. Near our house though Pineloch Woods is the Presumpscot River Preserve, with hiking trails which go down to the river and falls. Best restaurants near the house are Bruno's, on Washington and Forest Aves., Foreside Tavern and Orchid Thai House in Falmouth. Explore the outlets in Freeport, about twenty miles away. Rt. 295 south leads to the Old Port, downtown Portland, South Portland and Cape Elizabeth as well as a great beach in Scarborough. More great restaurants are clustered in the Arts District on or just off Congress St. and in the Old Port. Getting AroundCity buses run out Allen Avenue with stops near the house. We are 20 minutes from Portland Jetport—you can take a shuttle, cab or Uber to our doorstep. The bus and Amtrak station are in the same facility in Portland, Boston is only 2 hrs from our doorstep. The SpaceLocated in The Woodlands golf community. Sorry - no rights to club. 3 month min but flexible on length beyond that - so if you are house hunting or building a house and not sure how long you will need a rental house then - this can roll month to month as you need. This is not a 'rental unit' and isn't a great fit with AirBnB. Need good refs - and a long lead time to make this happen as I will probably be out of state when you contact me. Guest AccessWe live here many summers and only rent occasionally. The house is fully furnished. There is a 3 car garage but we leave a vehicle in one space. The basement is unfurnished, not real user friendly (a bit musty), and we store our personal belongings in plastic bins there. There is definitely not sufficient space for your household furniture - so you will need professional storage if you have also your own furniture. Interaction with GuestsThis is not a rental unit so to speak. It is a vacation home and occasional rental. You will need to think/act like a homeowner in terms of unexpected maintenance. I have a list to all key subcontractors. Maintenance is typically included in the rent unless of course you break something..... The NeighborhoodGreat family neighborhood. The Woodlands has 1 acre lots and is very bike-able and lots of kids. Super helpful is that this house is unique in Falmouth in being walking distance to the school campus. Getting AroundCar & bike - that's it. Other Things to NoteIf you are from out of state - the commute time into Portland is 15 minutes. Typically our house is rented by families in transition - moving into the area or those that are building and their prior home sold more quickly than they expected.

It is kind of fun to hose off from the ocean outdoors before coming inside. Activities abound in this area: The house is about 10 minutes from Portland and great restaurants and activities. House is located right off Rt. 1 and 295 for easy access to mid-coastal or northern Maine. The house is about 40 minutes from LLBean and the Freeport shopping area.(separate laundry area). There is a great public overnight tie up at Handy Boat Marina or if you make prior arrangements .. Certain. Boats can use our mooring (depending on size ).

The SpaceLimited ocean views from the living room and SWEEPING views of the harbor from the master bedroom and huge upstairs deck! Guest AccessThis is a free-standing vacation rental home and the entire house is being rented. Owner does not live on or near the premises. Interaction with GuestsI live 25 minutes from the cottage and managing my vacation rentals is my full-time occupation (I have another beach house at Willard Beach, just 5 minutes from downtown Portland). I am always available and happy to help my guests in any way that I can and I love to help with recommendations on things to see and do in and around the entire greater Portland area. I have also been writing, rewriting, editing and expanding my "book" of the area for over 10 years now and it offers my guests over 70 pages of information on local things to see and do, details about the restaurants in Portland, beaches, great day trips to consider, etc. My guests have provided me with really great feedback on the usefulness of this booklet in helping them maximize their time in the area and discovering great spots they may have otherwise not known about.
