The SpaceThis place is our beach house which we come to stay at on and off during the week and when our "adult" kids come home. As such it is designed to kick back and relax - surfing, swimming, fishing, paddling, walking, running, sleeping, reading, eating, or just hanging in a hammock. The house sleeps 5 upstairs in 3 bedrooms - 1 queen, 1 single & 1 set of bunk beds that can be separated. There are also 2 fold down lounges that might be able to be used. The main bedroom has an en suite. Guest AccessAccess to Weber gas Bar-B-Que, and with some advance notice body boards, bicycles, tennis gear, fishing tackle, a 2 man canoe, and even a lawn mower if you're really bored! Interaction with GuestsWe occasionally will be staying over downstairs unless the extra beds down there are also required. We can happily "mingle" or leave you in peace, as you desire. The NeighborhoodMylestom is an idyllic place to us. It lies on a narrow strip of land between the beautiful Bellingen River and the Pacific Ocean, with forested reserves to the north and south. Coffs, Sawtell, Bellingen, Urunga, Nambucca and Dorrigo are within short drives. But Mylestom is where you come to relax. Getting AroundDriving gives you the easiest access and most freedom. However there is a daily bus service to & from Coffs Harbour. The XPT rail service from Sydney or Brisbane stops at Coffs, Sawtell and Urunga. There are also multiple flights from Sydney to Coffs daily. If you need a lift just ask and we can see what we can do for you.

The SpaceThe house is really well equipped for longer stays. The decor is bright & welcoming so you feel instantly at home. The beach is so close you can hear and smell it. The river & most amazing sunsets is two minutes walk away and Bellingen is a beautiful drive only 19 kms along Waterfall Way. Coffs Harbour is 25 kms & Sawtell is 20 kms if you want to shop and dine out. Guest AccessIn the house there is full kitchen facilities, flat screen TV, DVD, stereo with ipod deck, double bed room, queen bedroom, bathroom with bath/shower and toilet. There is a sofa bed in the lounge room. There is room for a medium sized car and boats or bikes underneath the house. Laundry facilities also under the house. There is a semi-enclosed verandah by the front door and decks both front and back for enjoying the fresh sea air. Interaction with GuestsDepends where I am, but if I am out of range there is definitely someone you can call for help if needed. Or ask the friendly neighbours! The NeighborhoodMylestom is a quiet little village because half the houses are unoccupied except over Christmas. There is a caravan park that has permanent residents, a general store/cafe, a bowling club, a tennis court, a bmx track, an enclosed swimming pool adjoining the river park, ramps for launching boats and a pontoon for fishing from. Getting AroundThere are daily buses to Coffs Harbour and a weekend bus to the Bellingen area. The nearest railway station is Urunga, 10 mins drive away. There are many flights into Coffs Harbour each day and there is a shuttle bus and hire cars available from the airport. Its possible we can pick you up too, just check with us. Other Things to NoteThe lounge room has a lovely art deco fireplace but the chimney is not a goer, sorry. If it's cold there are electric heaters. Alternatively the beach is a great place for an open fire at dusk. And the river bank has wood burning and gas barbecues plus loads of picnic tables. There are stairs with rails to both the front and back doors. The shower in the bathroom is within a full size bath, you have to be able to step in over the side of the regular size bath. There is an outside cold shower for rinsing off after the beach. If the bath is an issue, ask me about access to another shower in the garage which is used for storage only. Please note that linen is NOT supplied apart from tea towels & bathmats.

As much as possible, everything we provide for you is locally produced and organically grown. Guest AccessYou are very welcome at The Bales. The SpaceThe cabin is a truly lovely space to be. It feels like home, but has everything you need for a relaxing and indulgent break away from everyday life. A spacious covered veranda looks out over majestic coastal bushland, with an abundance of native bird and wildlife, and features a table setting where you can greet the day with the birds, or enjoy the evening light with a glass of wine before dinner. At the rear of the cabin you have an attractive river stone patio, with your own 2 burner BBQ and table setting. Beyond is your own private west-facing lush green garden that overlooks the Bellinger river and the stunning sunsets over the mountains beyond. The interior is like a home away from home. Your separate bedroom contains a wonderfully comfortable queen bed with built in robes, drawers and extra bedding if needed. An electric blanket is provided to ensure cosy winter nights. Sliding doors connect the bedroom to the rear patio and the lovely garden and river views beyond. You have a spacious separate bathroom with a large shower, vanity and the same beautiful views over the river. There is also a front loading automatic washing machine and a clothes line in your garden. The kitchen, which is fully equipped with high quality appliances, has been designed for people who love to cook and eat. You even have a fresh herb garden under the kitchen window! Ceiling fans in both main rooms keep this well-insulated cabin cool in the summer, while a high quality gas convection heater will keep you warm on winter nights. The living area is open plan with a breezy dining area and comfortable living room, both with full length sliding glass doors that open on to the the front verandah and the bushland beyond. The accommodation is perfectly suited for a peaceful retreat for one, a romantic getaway for two, or can accommodate up to four if needed. In the living area there is a double futon, a wide screen television and blue ray DVD There is also a music system with iPhone 5 and USB connections for your own music collection. You have free wi fi connection through my house modem and password will be provided when you arrive. Guest AccessThe cabin is accessed directly from your own parking space opposite the cabin. There is a small flight of sturdy stairs up to the front veranda and the cabin beyond. Guests can also enter the cabin from the private patio at the rear. Interaction with GuestsI will be delighted to welcome you if I am around, and if not will find you later for introductions. I am happy to share knowledge of this beautiful area and welcome you, but the cabin is for those looking for a retreat in beautiful surroundings. I will be contactable by text should any issues arise. The NeighborhoodThis is one of the most beautiful areas on the North coast. You are a few minutes walk from the Bellinger river and 3 minutes by car from a long and often nearly deserted ocean beach with many resident dolphins and whales in the migration season. The river grows its own delicious oysters, purchasable from a nearby oyster hut at very reasonable prices. I will provide a shucking knife! Opened oysters and wonderful local fish and prawns available from a fish shop 5 minutes drive away. It is a very popular fishing spot with ocean and river fishing easily accessible. A great little cafe and shop opposite the river with netted swimming area offers coffee, local cakes,ice-cream, fish and chips, light meals and essentials such as milk, bread, eggs and fishing equipment. It is also a Post Office. There are a number of lovely small towns nearby, including Bellingen, which is a 12 minute car drive away. Bellingen is a laid-back, tree-lined town set in the lush valley beside the Bellinger River, who's rich architectural heritage, rural charm, gourmet food scene and cultural celebrations such as their annual Jazz Festival, has made the town a popular destination. Also nearby is Sawtell, a typically Australian beach town with stunning beaches and rock pools, great coffee shops and boutique bars - not to mention the best fish and chips in the area. I would be happy to point you in the right direction for the best places to try. Getting AroundGuests will need a car, as public transport is rudimentary. Car rental companies operate from Coffs Harbour Airport - 20 minutes by car. If transport is required to collect rentals I can provide it. Other Things to NoteThis is a semi-rural setting and it is Australia so you will expect to see occasional wildlife - lizards, lots of birds and sometimes possums. I will provide sprays and coils for 6 legged unwanted guests that may want to join your outdoor activities!
