The SpaceSusan's vacation home is over 3,000 s.f. new, clean, large and light rooms
with superior bathrooms. I designed this house myself with a local architect. I didn't want to feel like I was in Florida, yet I did want some creature comforts like a/c and a big kitchen.
The home is in a development called Parrot Tree, 20 minutes east of the airport and is quiet, secure, and not overbuilt. No neighbors next door, only beautiful jungle. The master has a king bed, a fridge, private patio, good light, shelf space, small table/chair. Bath has separate shower, tub, and private toilet, double sinks and storage shelves.
Downstairs is the large open living room and fully equipped kitchen, laundry and garage, and two bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bath. Each bedroom area is designed for privacy.
The back of the house is completely decked, with a small plunge pool, and an outside shower.
Roatan water is from a cistern and is filtered and extra clean with a u/v light.
Hot water is from zoned instant- on heaters, to conserve water and energy.
We are as " green" as possible and use propane gas for everything but lighting and zoned air conditioners. Guest AccessYou may rent the entire house as is listed, or I can arrange for you to have one or both of the downstairs bedrooms.
There is a floor plan of the ground floor in the photo section.
I am flexible about rent Interaction with GuestsI am a sociable lady and can tell you all you need to know, where to go on outings, restaurants, etc. The NeighborhoodRoatan is a beautiful island with an interesting mix of third world and luxury. Look up Roatan history for a fascinating story, including pirates!
Since one of my ancestors was a pirate, I suppose I felt an attraction here, and I love the place.
Roatan is actually well known for the gorgeous sea life and is a world class destination for scuba divers. There are plenty of activities for water lovers.
Nights can be spent outside sitting on the large back deck overlooking the jungle, stargazing.
I love to cook while there, the vegetables and especially the fruits are wonderful!
Animal lovers will enjoy seeing the "Watusa" which is a small Agouti, foraging for vegetable scraps you may put in a feeding station. We also have harmless bats, the marsupial mouse possum, and birds.
A walk down to the Palapa bar for drinks and dinner is always nice, but we also pass the evening the old fashioned way, talking, reading, cooking for friends, playing board games. We do have internet! Getting AroundThis home's location is best for someone who wants a slow, relaxed stay. Especially nice for mature people, groups or an entire family (sleeps 7) with a car. It's possible here to have a great vacation without a car; it's convenient to rent one at Parrot Tree, on a daily basis, only as you need it.
Airport is accessible by cab, or PT bus will pick you up for a fee.
I can pick you up if our schedule allows. Other Things to NoteHouse was built in 2014.
Very cool and comfortable, with large rooms. Master upstairs, king bed, very private, downstairs bedroom 1 sleeps three, bedroom 2 sleeps two. Each bedroom has a nice ensuite bathroom.
Easy to clean, concrete floor and countertops.
Washer and dryer.
All the creature comforts are in place. A/c, ceiling fans, King bed, quality bedding, towels, kitchen, equipment. yes a real tropical feel with huge back deck overlooking the jungle.
We are in the quieter east end of Roatan past the town of French Harbor. Parrot Tree has its own on site restaurant bar which is reasonably priced.
Fully equipped kitchen for cooking.
Water and electricity are expensive on an island so we ask that you be reasonably conservative and don't run water or use power in a wasteful way.
It's a very short and beautiful walk to an amazing pool, lagoon/beach, and Palapa bar/restaurant.
There is a lot of info PT on the net, and TripAdvisor.
