The SpaceWhen you arrive, there are three parking spaces along the street in front of the little white house marked with our address. Please park courteously as they are shared. The little white house is not our house; our house is the tall gray back house on the rear of the property. Please don't disturb our tenant in the front house! To access the private entry for your room you go through the cedar gate at the driveway, down the boardwalk, past our turquoise front door, and down the stairs to the patio. The room is accessed off of the first floor patio between the two houses on the property. Your door is the magenta one, and the rental space is through that and to the right. The room has access to the patio and yard. There is a mini-kitchen with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The bathroom is a standard on-suite bath with a tub/shower, toilet and vanity. We also have a hair dryer and iron for your clothes. We always try to meet our guests but spend a lot of time at our architecture studio. If you come or go mid-day, mid-week, we may miss each other but we will be sure to accommodate as necessary. If we are around we'll make sure to meet you. We do have a dog Tux who sometimes has a big bark but in actuality is very submissive and friendly. He loves our visitors! We live in a historic neighborhood with lots of trees, eclectic homes, and a big spread of kids and older folks. We are immediately adjacent to walking trails that access Buffalo Park and McMillan Mesa. We live right about in the dead center of Flagstaff. A bus line runs up West Street that goes all over town. It's a 5 minute drive to downtown. At night it can be very dark due to Flagstaff's dark skies ordinance. We try to leave porch lights on at night, but it wouldn't hurt to carry a light when coming and going in the dark. Again, please make sure to come to the back house and try not to disturb the tenants in the front house. Guest AccessThe room has access to the patio and yard. The SpaceEast Mountain View Ave is a small street located just over two miles from downtown Flagstaff. Flagstaff is a fortunate community with many local businesses, restaurants, coffee houses, and shops to choose from. In addition, we are a gateway to the Grand Canyon and to Sedona which both offer endless natural attractions and outdoor activities! Our home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The room listed is a mid-size bedroom with an off-suite private bathroom. We do have a second guest room that we can rent to you if you are traveling in a non-sleeping-together couple or small family. However, we will not rent to two separate groups at a time. Please inquire if you are interested in two rooms (an additional fee may apply). You will also be welcome to use our kitchen, and store small amounts of food in the refrigerator, freezer, or pantry if you plan on cooking during your stay. In the winter, enjoy our home that stays warm through radiant floor heating and an occasional fire in our wood burning stove. In the summer, we stay cool and comfortable with energy efficient insulation, many windows with a cool breeze, and a north facing living space. In addition, we have excellent outdoor spaces for your use and enjoyment! Flagstaff's many sunny days and moderate temperatures yields itself to a longing for the outdoors. Whether you are with us for a night or multiple days, we ask you to enjoy our back patio and garden as well as our shaded front deck. If our garden is in bounty, please help yourself to what you'd like. If you enjoy walking, running, or biking as a part of your routine, note that we have easy access to urban trails (literally!) right out our back door! If you're looking for something more adventurous, we can certainly point you in the right direction to trails in Flagstaff and Sedona. Guest AccessYou will have access to almost the entire house, with the exception of our bedroom and bathroom, and the garage. We thank you in maintaining our privacy in those spaces. Due to our busy come-and-go-lifesyles and a narrow entrance to the driveway we please ask that you refrain from parking in the driveway so that we can access our garage. Street parking is plentiful and safe. Otherwise, please enjoy the perks of our home! You are welcome to use our kitchen, and store small amounts of food in the refrigerator, freezer, or pantry if you plan on cooking during your stay. We have two dogs, a German Shepherd named Kenai and a Yorkshire Terrier named Walter. Kenai likes her own space so she'll often cozy up in our room not to be seen. Walter loves people and will likely cozy up to you if you want him to! While this is their home we do go out of our way to make guests comfortable so please don't hesitate to let us know if they become troublesome. Interaction with GuestsDue to the fact that we both work in the evenings and take classes during the day it is not unlikely that we will not be present when you arrive to the house if it is after 4pm. We often meet guests in the morning over coffee. Regardless, we will make sure that you have easy access to the home with a key in a lock box and all the immediate information you need if we are not here upon your arrival. The NeighborhoodEast Mountain View is a quiet and safe street. We are tucked away in a wooded avenue that overlooks Mt. Elden and is only a short walk away from views of all the San Francisco Peaks of Flagstaff. In addition, we are just over two miles from the heart of downtown Flagstaff, right off of Old Route 66, thirty minutes from Oak Creek Canyon/Sedona, and only about an hour and a half drive from The Grand Canyon. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop down the road at the corner of Arrowhead and Route 66. Also, the urban trail parallels 66 and you can walk easily (30 min approximately) to downtown. Other Things to NoteWe provide a limited breakfast. We will provide cereal, granola and fruit. Coffee and tea are available as well.

The SpaceAs of the beginning of March , the suite has fresh paint. We have posted new images. This cozy suite has two rooms and a bathroom, around 300sqft it fits two people nicely but can accommodate 3 people of you are good friends or family. A 3/4 bath with rain style shower is a nice touch. The bank of windows bathe the room with light from the south and all you see is pine trees and sky. We do allow dogs to stay with you but they must be well behaved and they are not to be left alone in the apartment unless kenneled. We do charge a pet fee and you MUST clean up after your animal. The space is an upstairs unit with a pitched roof, tall people may have issues with this. The suite is supplied with a full size bed and box spring that sit on the floor, along with bedding and extra blankets for the cold nights in flagstaff. There are towels and basics necessities in the bathroom. There is a spare futon on a frame if needed. The bathroom is compact and only has a curtain for a closure. The entry is next to the bed.
