The SpaceThis is a historic home in the center of an iconic neighborhood, bordered by a park with tennis courts on one side and the former Mott Park Golf Course on the other. The golf course is now a large green space for walking, running, or relaxing by the river. Guest AccessIn the summertime, guests may want to bring tennis raquets, bikes, or other outdoor activities. In the winter, cross country skiing on the golf course is always a unique opportunity. There is also ice skating available in downtown Flint. Interaction with GuestsSince the space is separate from our house, I don't typically interact much with guests in person, but I am happy to show you around or answer questions if you like! I try to at least greet our guests whenever I can, and if we both have time I wouldn't mind sharing a cup of coffee. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood has a great history (there is a history book about it in the loft), and hopefully a great future too. I think you will enjoy the quiet, the wildlife, and the friendly neighbors. We love Mott Park and enjoy living here, but to be clear this is an urban neighborhood in the city of Flint. There are some abandoned houses and sometimes petty crime. It is possible to hear sirens and even gun shots. Our guests have never had any issues. Getting AroundObviously in Michigan most people bring cars. There is a train station in Flint though, and I can pick you up from there if you need. We also have a good local bus system and bike trails that pass right through the neighborhood! Other Things to NoteYou may or may not have heard about the water situation in Flint. Feel free to do an internet search and you will find plenty of articles.
We had our water tested and it showed no trace of lead. However, we are still drinking bottled water and will provide it to our guests for the time being.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
