The SpaceThis Rocky Mountain log cabin on 5 private acres has an incredible view of Pike's Peak and provides for a quiet, peaceful stay. The 1500 sq ft space has 3 bedrooms-one bedroom is a loft. 4-6 people sleep comfortably, however there are enough beds to accommodate up to 10 if you are willing to bunk together or have young children. The master is the quietest, largest room with one full bed and a set of twin bunks, attached bathroom with large tub and separate shower. The smaller guest room has a full bed, and the loft has a full bed and set of twin bunks overlooking the living room. The second bathroom is on the main floor next to the guest room with a walk in shower, sink and toilet. Full kitchen includes granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The wood burning stove, fireplace and over-sized deck completes this quiet haven. There is also a 2 car over-sized detached garage and open single carport to keep your vehicles warm and dry. The house key also opens the garage and an automatic garage door opener is provided. Guest AccessThe cabin is on 5 acres and you have access to the entire property. Please be careful of snow and ice during the winter months both walking to the cabin and walking the property. Walking sticks are available and they do help. Within travel distance (30 minutes to 2 hours) is Denver, Monarch ski resort (incredible Cat skiing), Breckenridge ski resort, Pikes Peak and its attractions, horseback riding, Collegiate Peak 14ers, fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, hiking, Woodland Park shopping and antiquing, Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Santas North Pole, Cripple Creek gambling, Manitou Brewery, ATV trails, bike trails and rafting trips, among other things. In short, there is a lot to do. Interaction with GuestsMy wife and I, brother and sister-in-law reside in the Denver metro area. We also have a care taker in the immediate area if necessary. You can contact one of us to assist you with whatever you need to make your stay great. Email on airbnb is probably best. Contact information provided upon booking. Just FYI, I really do not show up during your stay (unless you would want me to). I know this is your vacation so I try to stay out of the way. The NeighborhoodThe Indian Creek Wilderness Estates neighborhood consists of similar 5 acre properties with cabins and vacation homes, about half of the residents live year round. The open space, rock outcroppings, trees and views make for great hiking on the gravel roads. If going for a longer hike, try to stay on the roads and off other's property. Or better yet, make a short drive to the trails in the area that really offer great hiking experiences. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation so a car is required. The area is beautiful so hiking from the cabin is recommended but stay on the property or the dirt roads. However, hiking trails are more common in Garden of the Gods to the east and 11 mile canyon to the west (and many in between both). There really are no services, including stores or restaurants, that is in reasonable walking distance so you will probably have to drive to those. Internet and cell phone access is very spotty regardless of your service provider. Other Things to NoteTry to stay informed of the current and future weather and fire conditions. At this altitude (9200') we do get a lot of snow in a very short period of time. However, the sun melts it very fast and it does not linger on the ground very long. The driveway is not that long (approximately 450 feet) but it is an incline of approximately 10 degrees or so. It can get slick in the winter. Fire danger in the summer is real. Also since there is very spotty internet access it is best to remember or print out items from the internet that you may not access when you are at the cabin. "Wild Blue" is the internet provider for remote areas of Colorado and I found that its service was not much better. Therefore, instead of making unrealistic expectations that you will have access, be prepared that you will not. Finally, this is a cabin with no asphalt, no cement driveway and burning wood in both the fireplace and wood burning stove. Although we have maids clean the cabin before and after every single guest, there are times ash or pebbles from the property may be on the floor, which is highly normal for a Rocky Mountain log cabin.

The kitchen and master suite have access to the back deck; the deck includes table seating for 12 and a propane grill. Guest AccessThe entire home is yours to enjoy. Interaction with GuestsThis is a second home for us so we will not be available in person during your stay. However, we are available by phone, text, email and the Airbnb site to help you with whatever you may need throughout the duration of your stay. The NeighborhoodDeer, elk, incredible night sky, playing with the kiddos at the lake, Peggy's great coffee shop down the road, the 1.1 million acre national forest. Getting AroundThere are taxis in Woodland Park, but you should bring a vehicle. There is easy access to the home, but if you want to hit the forest service roads and trails or drive through Phantom Canyon, a 4-wheel or All Wheel Drive is recommended. In the winter, a set of chains is always a good idea. Other Things to NoteVirtually everything Colorado has to offer ranges from walking distance to a short drive away. Please see below for quick reference. 1/4 mi Pike National Forest and trails (hiking/hunting/back country skiing)-1/2 mi lake-4 mi Florissant Fossil Beds-71 mi Breckenridge (skiing)-2 mi South Park(hiking/fly fishing/hunting)-30 mi Manitou Springs (shopping/Cog Railway)-35 mi Colorado Springs (Air Force Academy/Olympic Center)-19 mi Cripple Creek (gambling/hiking)-15 mi Eleven Mile Reservoir (fishing/ice fishing/boating)-58 mi Royal Gorge (hiking, railway)-57 mi Buena Vista (wilderness/whitewater rafting)

Experience mountain living at its finest! Our real, log cabin is located in the tiny town of Florissant, Colorado. Just a short (generally one hour) drive from Colorado Springs, you will feel far away from the city when you enter this quiet, log retreat. Snuggle up in the master loft after a long day of hiking, fishing, skiing, or exploring. The down comforter will send you to dreamland after your soak in the old-fashioned, clawfoot tub! You will smell the coffee brewing downstairs in the full kitchen. The main level features a great room with kitchen, dining area, and living room with huge windows showing off the scenery! If the air is chilly, light a fire in the warm, wood stove and relax with a good book in the reading corner of the room. After breakfast, head out to the Fossil Beds National Monument or Eleven Mile Reservoir to do some fishing or hiking. Take a short drive over to Cripple Creek to try your luck at the many casinos in town. Explore old gold mines or just have an ice cream cone. Many shops will also delight you! You have your own little piece of Heaven!! Thank You! Stephanie & Derick & Bill - Kansas My wife & I were looking for a place to stay for a couple of months to be close to the site of our dream home as it is being built. The Colorado Mountain Retreat was the perfect place for us, being just two miles from our build site. We couldn't have been more pleased with the house. It was very comfortable and met our needs. It included everything we needed and if we had any questions, Dave was always readily available. It also served as a great location to meet with our builder and other trades so that we could make many of the decisions one has to make when building a home. We especially enjoyed having a fire at night on the patio and seeing our daily visitors of 3 - 8 deer, who we were able to feed right out of our hands. Some days they would come right up to the back door looking for us to come out. And thanks for having the horseshoe set. We had some very spirited games during our stay. We are looking forward to our return trip in late October for a couple of weeks to see the progress on our home. Kevin & Kathie C. - Arizona This house was super comfortable and had everything we needed. Dave has great attention to detail and we felt like he was taking care of us without him being there. But for us, the highlight of this place was the close location (30 min away) of an excellent fishing destination. We will be looking forward to staying there again for our next fishing trip. Joan G M - Colorado We has an amazing time at Dave's! The house had everything we needed, very comfortable and close to awesome fishing. Thanks Dave! We had a fantastic time! Hopefully we can come back again next year! Chalie - Colorado This is a very comfortable house a couple miles south of Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, and dishes and the pantry has several essentials. It has a beautiful master suite and two other spacious rooms. The dining / living area is great for hanging out in the evenings. We enjoyed the backyard patio area too. Anonymous The house had everything we needed and very comfortable. This mountain home sits on 30 beautiful, wooded acres just South of Hwy 24. It sits high on a hill above the abandoned Colorado Midland Railroad from the 1800’s. Nestled in the pines, it overlooks a stream with several Beaver ponds and visiting wildlife. Feel complete privacy with no other houses in view yet easy access to all local attractions. Close to world class flyfishing at Eleven Mile Canyon, Eleven Mile Reservoir, Spinney Mountain Reservoir and the Dream Stream. The interior features 1900 sqft with vaulted ceilings and large picturesque floor to ceiling windows in the spacious living room. A stone accent gas fireplace with 50" plasma TV above, completes the space. The home is superior in quality, featuring warm colors and comfortable furnishings. With the open concept, it is cozy enough for 2, but roomy enough for the whole family. You’ll enjoy cooking your meals in the large, modern, well stocked kitchen or grilling on the deck. Enjoy the Views from the 3 tiered deck or stargaze after a long day of outdoor activities in the 6 person Hot Tub. We do keep the driveway well plowed of snow in the winter, however the driveway has a few ups and downs, so we do recommend a 4 wheel drive for the winter and spring months.
