The SpaceSandy Feet Cottage pricing is *inclusive* - there are no extra fees for cleaning, linens or weekend stays. Inclusive also means that all paper goods, soaps, and basic necessities (like coffee, tea & hot chocolate!) for your stay are offered. There is an additional charge for more than 5 guests. Nightly and weekly rates (as well as minimum stay) vary depending upon the season. Check the calendar for the rate on your requested dates. Generally, it's a 4 night minimum stay for Memorial Day through Labor Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas; otherwise it's a 2 night minimum stay. In addition to the 3 bedrooms (Master with king bed, 'Beach Room' with 2 XL twin beds & pullout twin trundle, & 'Bunk Room' with 2 twin bunks & antique Ranch Hand's bed), there's a living room with leather couch & board games & puzzles, new kitchen, dining room, bathroom with shower, and Florida room/enclosed porch (with a small view of the lake). Located across the street from Lake Huron, a giant deck wraps around two sides of the house with gas grill, umbrella table, chairs, and loungers. The huge yard, great for badminton, bocce ball & croquet, also has a fire pit for evening bonfires. There's a large garage with 3 adult bikes, and all the beach toys & games imaginable for the young and young-at-heart. Grab your lightweight wagon with beach chairs, towels and cooler (provided) and head down the block to the paved path to the beach where you can gaze over miles of open water, with it's ever-changing waves & sand. And there's no better place on earth to sip a cup of morning coffee and watch the sun rise. This charming cottage has antique wicker on the enclosed porch, local vintage postcards on the walls, a very unusual antique 'ranch hand's' bed, mission rocker, maple Shaker dining set, and other retro touches. But there is also a new 'smart' tv (49' in lvg rm) with Netflix and HuluPlus access (provided), a recently-remodeled kitchen with microwave & all needed small & large appliances, a Bluetooth music system (streams music from apps like Pandora or Spotify or play your own stored tunes in your smart phone or tablet), washer & dryer (supplies provided), and high speed internet augmented with an additional router to be sure there is plenty of strong Wi-Fi access for all of your devices. We want you to be able to relax on your vacation, so in addition to linens & towels (both bath & beach), all paper goods, shampoo, soap, spices, coffee, tea & hot chocolate are provided. There's even extra sunscreen, bug spray, toothpaste, & deodorant if needed! Cozy throws & blankets are located throughout the cottage, but a new gas forced-air furnace will make Sandy Feet toasty in an instant. And for those 'dog days' when fans & the lake breeze are not enough, there's central air conditioning. Vintage, yes, but re-imagined for the 21rst century. The Blue Water area is a year-round destination! The beach and waterfront on Lake Huron & the St. Clair River are amazing no matter the season. There are festivals & fairs in all the nearby towns nearly every weekend in June, July and August (Yale Bologna Festival, Lexington Art Fair, Floatdown, Antique Yard Sale Trail, & many more) and lots of fall, winter and spring events & activities as well (Festival of Trees, St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl & Parade, Tom & Jerry's at the famous Brass Rail Bar, fresh apple picking, cider mill and Christmas tree farms). Port Huron's most famous July event is Bayview Yacht Club's Port Huron to Mackinac Sailboat Race, the largest freshwater sailing event of its kind in the world. With over 300 contestants, the event brings boaters and tourists from all over the world to what has become a week-long festival of parades, vendors, and parties. And the start off the race happens right in front of the beach at Sandy Feet Cottage! The historic Fort Gratiot Lighthouse (1829) is the oldest lighthouse in Michigan, and tours are available May through December. We also love the tours of the historic lightship, the Huron. These are just a few of the many recreational, sporting, eating, relaxing and plain old fun that you can have while vacationing in this terrific region. Or, there's always books, games, puzzles and simply resting at the cottage on the beach, on the porch or around the campfire in the fire pit. Do lots or nothing at all! Guest AccessGuests have complete access to the entire property, and may contact us at any time with questions, feedback, problems & suggestions. Please note that the garage is for storage of items that guests may use, and will also accommodate one guest vehicle. Also, the property extends to the right (north) of the driveway, but *not* to the left (south) of the drive. Please respect our neighbor's property and do not use this property for any purpose. Be sure that only our property is used to turn cars around to head down the long driveway (never drive on the neighbor's property!) and stay 2 - 3 feet back from the neighbor's bushes while turning around cars. A detailed map will be given upon arrival at the cottage. Interaction with GuestsGuests have complete access to the entire property, and may contact us at any time with questions, feedback, problems & suggestions. The NeighborhoodSandy Feet Cottage is in a superb location in Fort Gratiot Township on the 'north end,' only 1 mile from the mall and all of the major superstores and restaurants (both local-owned favorites & all the chains) - and less than 5 min. to Starbucks, Barnes & Noble Books, and Krafft 8 Movie Theater. You're in downtown Port Huron in 10 minutes, with all of the great shops, restaurants, farmer's market, River Walk, marinas and more. The picturesque vacation village of Lexington, with their great summer music series, quaint shops, fun beach and long pier walk is only 15 - 20 minutes to the north of Sandy Feet. And for those visitors not from SE Michigan, it's no more than 60 minutes to Tiger Stadium and the Fox Theater in downtown Detroit to catch a ballgame or professional theater. Getting AroundThe Detroit Metro Airport is 86 miles from the cottage. There is an Amtrak Station in Port Huron. In general, a car is needed to get around this region. There is limited, local bus transportation, and several local firms provide private transportation to area airports (including Detroit Metro). Other Things to NoteWe left Port Huron in 1989 for the shiny lights of the big city (Pittsburgh, PA), but our heart & home was always in Port Huron. This is the place where we had our first jobs, met, fell in love, did a bunch of community theater, got married, bought our first house & made a lifetime of great friends. We kept returning most every year since leaving. Whenever we returned, it just felt like coming home. We found that with each visit, we found more and more to do & see in this fabulous region as well as visiting with all of our wonderful friends. In addition to Port Huron, we've traveled the world via Airbnb renting homes, cottages & apartments all across the US & in Turkey, Ecuador, Canada, Italy, & more. After years of renting others, it's great to have a cottage like Sandy Feet to call our own, & to share with family and friends, both old and new!

Ipperwash Beach is sandy with world class sunsets! Located just a short 50 minute (60 km) drive north of Sarnia, you can enjoy the lake breezes and the warm summer sun located a short distance from this cottage. There is no shore bluff to climb up and down - just carry your beach chair and bag a short walk to a deeded path and you're at the beach! In the heat of summer, the beach is quite popular and can be accessed by vehicles (cars may park on the beach). A Frisbee and a kite board would complete your gear because the wind is usually steady onto the beach. The cottage access road is gravel, and quiet with little traffic. Perfect for exploring and enjoying serenity. The view is north but has great sunsets to the west over Kettle Point (where you can find unique rounded stones on the lake bottom just off the reserve, geological anomalies that the elders call 'thunderbird eggs'). The beach is a great place to wander along the shore and explore, or just relax and contemplate life while watching the children construct sandcastles! To get to the water, it's just 100 meters away or a short walk from the cottage down the road to the access trail. Inside the cottage, the kitchen and living room are open concept. There is a fridge, stove and microwave along one wall while the living room area is opposite. The kitchen table has a bench against the wall and four chairs. Walk out the back kitchen door to the deck with your breakfast and/or coffee. Or sit inside and enjoy your book or watch TV while relaxing in the comfortable sofa and chair. The bedrooms and bathroom/laundry room are all located down the hall. There are three bedrooms, two of which each have a queen bed and one that has a set of bunkbeds (single over double). The bathroom is a three piece with updated white fixtures and glass enclosed shower stall. Out in the bunkie there is one single bed, where an older child may wish to 'camp out' in the backyard - bring a sleeping bag! The cottage has a large grassy backyard with a firepit to enjoy. It is perfectly shaded when the sun gets hot! Golfing is nearby at one of the many local courses. It's 3 km to Our Ponderosa Golf Resort, 5 km to Indian Hills Golf Club or 10 km to Sand Hills Golf Resort. For other activities, the cottage is only 22 km from the Pinery Provincial Park and Grand Bend - making it an ideal location for day trips into either town or to another beach community. On the way stop in at the Lambton Heritage Museum (21 km away) to see Canada's largest collection of pressed glass and period buildings. For the geologist or rock hounds, you really shouldn't miss a trip to the Rock Glen Conservation Area near Arkona (26 km away) to hunt fossil brachiopods (Mucrospirifer Arkonensis and Mucrospirifer Thedfordensis) and a take a refreshing 'shower' under the 10 metre high falls. In downtown Sarnia you will find lots of boutiques, fine restaurants, and Sarnia harbour. Additional amenities include: firewood provided, coffee maker, tea pot, pillows, dishes, pots and pans, fire pit, cutlery, patio furniture (patio table, 4 chairs, and, cleaning supplies, vacuum, blankets, refrigerator freezer. The NeighborhoodI live in an area just a couple of blocks east of Downtown Sarnia and our beautiful waterfront along the mighty St. Clair River (900 meters from the water to be exact) in a part of town known as the Mitton Village. We are also only a few minutes walk from Bluewater Health. There are many kilometres of jogging/biking/rollar blading along our beautiful waterfront. Our beautiful beaches along Lake Huron's shores are a short 5-10 minute drive north. We have very long and beautiful waterfront trails that start about 900 meters from my home and will offer you a very nice view of the St. Clair river and our harbour as you bike thru Centennial Park (Boardwalk then mostly cobblestone). That same route will eventually take you along to the government docks (pavement, then hard-packed ground) and then into Point Edward (a village inside Sarnia) and under the International Bluewater Bridges where the river opens up into Lake Huron which is a favourite area of mine (paved path). From there it's a short bike ride on a couple of city streets to our large an beautiful lakeside park called Canatara where there is an inland lake and plenty of trails thru the woods and also along the beach. We also have bike paths from the east end of town all the way to the lake along where the rail line used to go and all the way out to Brights Grove several kilometres down the lake from Sarnia. You'll have lots to explore while you're staying here! Getting AroundWe are less than a block away from a Sarnia Transit Bus Stop.
