The Space18'x36' second-story apartment, 40' deck overlooking Schoodic Mountain, and 8'x8' third-story cupola with skylights. We opened up the print studio as another bedroom, so there are queen and twin mattresses in that room and a queen in the main room. The cupola is set up for relaxing or meditating, and also has a twin daybed. Booking is open April through November although April and late October and November will be chilly...we do have space heaters available. Located in a timber-framed and earth-plastered structure, owner-built in 2005. Sleeps up to 6 guests, though the sixth should be adventurous as the bed is up in the cupola! Breakfast options provided include coffee, tea, farm-fresh eggs, and bread, yogurt and smoothie ingredients. Additional Schoodic Hollow Farm vegetables, (in season!) and organic homemade wine can be purchased directly. Fully-outfitted (cold water only) kitchen, gas stove and grill. There are two composting toilets, please note! But they are very clean, sawdust based and no smell. There is access to hot water shower in the lower level of our house, 200 yards away. You enter through lower door and follow around to the left front of the house. Guest AccessWe do like to help people get to know the space when you get here, but we go to bed pretty early, so if you will arrive late, please read all info and print directions off so that you don't get stranded at our neighbors house, please! We are All The way (really) at the end of a half mile road, past two other houses on the hill. Sometimes gps will tell you you are here when you get to 27, but keep going! The rental is equipped with a full kitchen with sink (cold water only), small refrigerator, propane range and oven, gas grill, microwave, and all cookware and eating ware. There are two composting toilets and access to shower in the main house, which is a short walk through the yard, past gardens and free range chickens. Laundry facilities can be used on longer stays. Mountain bikes available for rent, canoe available for use on pristine remote pond, and we have sources for local kayak rentals. Interaction with GuestsWe run a small farm and carpentry shop and have young children, so are most often around, but working. We are happy to tour you around, and you are welcome to visit the chickens and ducks and guinea hens! We are happy to help you get acquainted with the space and we welcome questions. We welcome all people. The NeighborhoodFranklin is a quaint Downeast Maine town, with not much for amenities besides a Trading Post (convenience store) and diner, but we are only 25 minutes from Ellsworth- the shopping hub of the area- and 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. We directly abut the Down East Sunrise Trail, (find it on the web), an 85 -mile multi-use trail, and Schoodic Mountain is a short (1 hour) hike away, with breathtaking views. We are very close to Hog Bay, a hotbed of bird activity, with eagles, osprey and great blue herons, among others. There is a great put-in for kayaking or canoeing, and there are many amazing art galleries close by. Getting AroundWe are 60 minutes from Bangor International Airport, 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and 25 minutes from Ellsworth. There is no convenient public transit from Ellsworth to our place. We have ample parking. Other Things to NoteThe internet has full signal. The space is in a former gallery, and some art pieces (sculpture and print) are still within and outside of the space and available for sale! Please be aware that this is located on the second level, and climbing stairs is necessary to access the rental. An intermittently-used woodworking and sculpture studio is located on the lower level, but we won't do loud work in the morning or into the night. Our farm poultry wake up pretty early, and sometimes our farm dog, Scout, will bark away predators in the night.

On the approach to George’s Pond the camp road is shaded by a canopy trees. Next, you wind your way through classic stretches of blueberry fields and then back under the canopy of trees. Your vacation is about to begin and you start to feel a sense a slowing of life’s sometimes hectic pace. Pulling into the driveway, this notion is confirmed as the cottage comes into view, surrounded by towering trees and framed by a shimmering, freshwater pond. You have arrived at Robin’s Nest. Robin’s Nest is nestled on just over 2 private acres with 267’ on George’s Pond. This year round, 2 bedroom cottage sleeps 4 and is fully equipped and furnished to make your vacation a truly memorable experience. The most recent renovations in 2013 & 2014 only enhance your enjoyment. George’s Pond is noted for its clear, clean waters and proof of its popularity are the generations of owners and renters who keep returning to this idyllic location year after year. The pond itself is 358 acres in size and home to abundant fish populations, mostly brook & brown trout, pickerel, perch & small mouth bass. One of the most popular features on the pond is nearby “Dive Rock”. Dive Rock is a large boulder in the middle of the pond that has an Olympic diving board installed. Folks on the pond love rowing out to Dive Rock and leaping into the warm waters. Dive Rock is not a far paddle from Robin’s Nest. On the shore of Robin’s Nest, a dock extends out into the pond with a larger platform at its end. Here you can plainly see the gorgeous sand bottom this private, “cookie bite” cove enjoys. Our shore is sheltered and just perfect for children to enjoy the warm, summer water of George’s. Kids aren’t the only fans ~ wildlife loves this cove and the ever bubbling spring, right on our shore. Ducks & ducklings are commonly seen at this spring oasis. Add in a swim float moored in the middle of the cove, a kayak & paddleboat armada for exploring the pond (lifejackets required!) a pondside hammock & fire pit and you’ll see why Robin’s Nest is a unique hideaway for your Maine vacation. The interior has an eat-in kitchen. A recently installed French door in the kitchen opens onto the deck so the dining area now enjoys views of the pond. The kitchen is fully equipped for your cooking needs. Views to the pond from the main living spaces are immediate and very private. The living room has ample space for relaxing, playing games, watching TV or reading a great book. Heading down the hall from the living room the first room on your right is a full bathroom with laundry facilities which has seen extensive updates and really stands out from what one might expect for “camp” living. It includes a stack washer dryer, combination tub shower, vanity and a fully stocked linen closet with everything you need including beach towels, paper products, laundry detergent and fabric softner. Both bedrooms exude that “cabin” charm and offer a comfortable sized living space. There is a queen bed in the larger bedroom at the end of the hall and two twin beds are in the slightly smaller bedroom. Both bedrooms and the living room have ceiling fans. A gas fireplace in the living room provides plenty of warmth after a midnight swim or a romantic atmosphere on a rainy evening and the wrap around deck provides a perfect setting to chill out on summer evenings while BBQing with your friends & family. High speed, wireless internet service is on hand, as is cable TV & phone, though most guests recommend you keep the TV off. All your shopping needs in Ellsworth are only 15-20 minutes away and we recommend you stock up on your way to camp as there are only small convenience stores nearer the pond. Legendary Acadia National Park is a 40 minute drive, with the village of Bar Harbor a few miles beyond ANP Visitors Center. Even closer, just a mile before you turn off RT. 200 onto Cousins Road is the Downeast Sunrise Trail which stretches from Maine to Key West, FL and allows you to hike or bike through beautiful country side not seen from any main roads. Donnell Pond Public Reserved Lands is a hidden gem of conservation land boasting the same bald eagles, granite peaks, extensive forest hiking and pristine freshwater ponds as Acadia with one thing missing: all of the other visitors! Countless other treasures hidden away in gorgeous Downeast Maine are not far from the doorstep of Robin’s Nest. Maps and more information are at the cottage. Thank you kindly for considering us for your Maine vacation. Please do not hesitate to contact us today with questions or to make a reservation for your stay.

Built in the early 60's as our family's Maine summer 'camp', 'Memory Cove' is floor to ceiling knotty pine, rustic and spacious. A large kitchen, dining area and separate den. The deck is right off the front, a gas grill and plenty of seating so you can relax and enjoy a summer meal while taking in the beautiful lake view. Step down to the dock, kayak or canoe out to islands and secluded sand beaches for a picnic or a mountain top hike. Other amenities include full laundry, dishwasher, fireplace inside and fire pit outside (got to have marshmallows!) and a gas grill. Swim, fish right off the dock or relax on the deck while taking in the spectacular beauty of the mountains and lake. Located on a large lake, beautiful, pristine Donnells Pond in Downeast Maine. Welcome to 'Memory Cove'! Donnells Pond is one of Maine's most premier lakes, with miles of protected and forever wild shoreline. Quiet even at the height of summer, with beautiful mountain views, remote sand beaches and hiking. 2 person canoe and single person kayak for your enjoyment. My parents, born and raised in Maine, built this home in 1960 as a summer retreat. Every summer my parents would load up the station wagon and with 8 kids in tow drive from New York to Franklin, Maine to spend the summer. In Maine a summer lake home is often referred to as 'camp'. And truly in the early years, camp it was with no running water or electricity and with 8 kids (some in diapers). We loved it and we can't imagine a childhood without swimming and being on the lake. Over the years 'camp' has evolved into a home, perhaps still a bit rough around the edges, but no better spot exist as far as we 'kids' believe. It's our pleasure to share our home with you so that you can make your own everlasting memories of summer in Maine. Welcome to Memory Cove!

The house was begun in September, 2005 and finished 2 years later. Since it was designed to be shared by two sisters, the downstairs has two master bedroom–bath-walk-in closet combinations, each 16' X 24', the bedroom being 16' X 16'. Their tray ceilings give an even more open sense to the rooms. One room has a kingsize bed and the other, a double bed. Each room has its own entrance with a slider out onto the deck which continues around to the other bedroom, across the front, water side of the house. The remaining central part of the downstairs is a 32' X 32' loosely defined space. There is the kitchen (15' X 14') open to the water side and a large closet in the center. The other 3/4 of the room is open for living and dining. The entire front has windows from floor almost to the roof. On one side there is a stone fireplace which is gas-fired. In the center of the room a wooden spiral staircase leads to an upstairs loft--- reading nook with queensize futon, a large bedroom with twin beds and bath. These rooms take up a bit more than half the depth of the house (17') and all the width of the central room (32'). There is a railing along the long open hallway the width of the room below, from which you have a wonderful interior view of the beams of the house and open room below and through the tall windows a view of trees, rocks and ocean bay. The 26’ X 28’ two-car garage has storage space. From the garage, there is a door to the spacious entry way. Here there is a half-bath. There is also a spinnet piano. The central space of the house (32’ X 32’) has a full basement and the two bedrooms have a 6’ high space under them, with easy access. Another door from the driveway leads into this foyer and from there you enter into the area between the kitchen to your left and the remaining open living/dining space, on your right and beyond the kitchen in front of you. The land is on Taunton Bay, one of the quietest and most pristine bays in the part of Maine that is still easily accessible. Ellsworth, a lovely down-to-earth year round town is 7 miles away. And beyond that lie Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Stonington and Castine. Schoodic and Bar Harbor are also less than an hour away, as is Bangor, where there is the airport for Central Maine and rental cars available We have 4 and 1/2 acres on a point of land that forms a small cove, of which 2/3 of the shoreline is ours. The house faces directly east and the point and cove lie to the south. The rocky, granite shore is wonderful, with a marshy area directly in front of the house and a higher, rocky shore line for the most part of the remaining coastline. On the north side of the marshy area there is a large cleared, but by no means stripped, area which has been the scene of a family wedding. It is sunny near the shore and shady as you move inland to the house which is in full sun. Across the bay you can see a line of mountains. It is extremely quiet and peaceful.

Vacationers come to Maine for many reasons. Here is one more. Secluded on 37 acres with 1000 feet shore front this immaculate post and beam cottage has been referred to as "The Castle On the Bay". The pictures tell why. We have found that one of the most liked aspects of renting here is the outside fireplace with it's two gas fired lobster cookers as well as a large gas grill. A great spot for cooking and family get togethers. Some of the following check mark info's does not cover everything such as the fact that the cottage is on an estuary of the ocean and therefore has very calm waters for kayaking and exploring the shoreline. The cottage sits alone on this 37 acre spot therefore has a great deal of privacy. There is a gate that you can lock at night for total privacy. Keywords: Cottage on the salt water
