The SpaceLovely, airy cabin in the woods with mountain views, stone fireplace, and comfy beds. On the main floor are two bedrooms with queen beds, one full bathroom, kitchen/dining room, living room, and laundy closet are on the main floor; upstairs is the master loft suite with queen bed, half bath, desk, and reading/lounge chair. Echo Laurel is a perfect place to write, read, create, or decompress. The master loft suite and one of the downstairs bedrooms have desks. This cabin also is a terrific homebase if you want to venture out to see the sights and culture of the area, or throw yourself into the more athletic activities of the mountains and their rivers and streams. This cabin is not a place for parties. Simple and 'rustic' enough for a great mountain cabin feel without compromising on modern conveniences or amenities. Mountain or wooded views from every window. The cabin is very private but not completely secluded. I and various family members stay at the cabin frequently so some of our clothes and toiletries may be there. Bring your food, and everything else you need to prepare delicious meals is provided in my fully-equipped kitchen. Start your mornings with the hummingbirds and a cup of coffee on the deck. If you're lucky, you'll be able to enjoy a soft mountain rain from the covered deck. Head over to Asheville, Maggie Valley, or Cherokee for the afternoon or the day. Check out the eclectic shops, eateries, and bookstores in nearby Dillsboro and Sylva. Drive up to Highlands for stunning views, hiking, and magnificent waterfalls. Or spend the day in Franklin exploring the work of mountain artists and craftspeople, shopping in the antique and upcycle stores, and dining from a variety of restaurants. Wind down at one of Franklin's coffee & tea shops, bookstores, or bakeries. Then head back to the cabin and spend the evening on the deck or in the adirondock chairs in the yard enjoying the view before ending the day in front of the fireplace. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire home; only you and your guests will be there. The cabin has phone service with free long distance calls, two televisions, a DVD player, and high speed WiFi. Feel free to use anything you have access to, but please replace anything you use up. Interaction with GuestsI stay at the cabin regularly but do not live there. During your stay, I am a phone call, text message, or email away and I have family who live nearby who help me take care of my place. The NeighborhoodI looked for almost two years to find a cabin I could use as a getaway and share with my family and friends. I fell in love with the cabiny feel of this place in the woods ! I bought it summer of 2014. I named it Echo Laurel Cabin after the mountain laurel that lines the cabin road in the summer (the road is called Echo High). The mountain view is breathtaking. There are some other homes along the cabin road, but don't expect traffic or neighbors to intrude on your time up here! Getting AroundYou must have a car for access to my place. If you take the route I recommend, you will have paved roads for all but the last .8 mile, which will be gravel. You don't need a 4-wheel drive vehicle except in snow (I have a all-wheel drive car and have had no problems). Don't trust your GPS to get you to the cabin; it will lead you astray and down long and confusing gravel roads. Use your GPS to get to "Sylva Road and Sanderstown Road" in Franklin and then follow my directions from there. My driveway is pretty steep but there is flat, level parking also, so if you prefer you can park there and walk down the driveway (it's short; see photo). The cabin is less than 6 miles from downtown or grocery shopping. Other Things to NoteSometimes I can accommodate last minute weekend plans for 2 nights (usually a 3-night minimum on weekends) at $110/night. Winter months access require all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicle during snow; 4WD is recommended. And because winter weather always brings with it the possibility of storm power outage, winter rental carries with it some risk. Some of these months are blocked off on my calendar for these reason but rental may be negotiable, contingent upon weather. Children will need supervision as the terrain is steep. Not recommended for small children. Asheville 1 hr 15 min away; Catalooche Ski Lodge 1 hr; Maggie Valley 1 hr; Waynesville 45 min; Cherokee 42 min; Bryson City 40 min; Blue Ridge Parkway 40 min; Downtown Franklin and grocery stores 6 miles; Dillsboro/Sylva 15 miles; Highlands 22 miles. Atlanta and Knoxville airports 2.5 hrs; Asheville airport 1.25 hrs

Several antique auctions vie for your approval and purchase of fine artistic memorabilia. Flea markets also are all around the immediate area. Light winter snows also capture your senses for a white, clean viewpoint of slipping, sliding, sledding, and skiing on nearby slopes, within an hour or so of this scenic vista. . A little old white cabin used to sit near my new cabin that belonged to my great grandmother. Growing up in the valley and missing the presence of her cabin, motivated me and my husband to build. My parents live a stone throw from the cabin, so, it's a great place for us to take a break, relax and visit with family. We vacation throughout the year in our cabin and want to share our favorite getaway with you.

If you are looking for a place to experience the mountains and all that Western North Carolina has to offer, our Blessing Ridge mountain home could be an ideal choice for you! Completed in late 2011 our home is located at a 2500 foot elevation within the boundaries of the Nantahala National Forest. It has the feel of a remote mountain getaway…without the usual steep mountain driving. It also has easy access to neighbors and to nearby suburban amenities. You will enjoy great views from every room in the house with breathtaking 180 degree, long range mountain views from our great room, dining room and wrap around covered porch. If you like to cook you will even enjoy the view while cooking on an IKEA gas stove inserted into a cooking island complete with chef table seating! The kitchen is equipped with brand new stainless steel appliances so there is no roughing it at Blessing Ridge. The great room with a family room loft overlooking it has wood floors, tongue and groove wood paneling on its vaulted ceiling and a gas log fireplace inset in a floor to ceiling stone wall. The fireplace turns on with the flip of a wall switch! Both the family room and master bedroom are equipped with a 60 channel Dish Network satellite system. There is a new 55' LED HD Flat-Screen TV mounted above fireplace and a new 29' LED Flat-Screen in the Master Bedroom. Blessing Ridge is also equipped with wireless DSL internet...if you need to check your email or post some vacation photos on Facebook! The dining room butcher block table will seat 10 with beautiful views of its own. Or you may enjoy supper on the adjacent shaded wrap around covered porch with gas grill and comfortable seating for 6 in the dining area. There’s additional space to relax on a new red cedar two person glider on the covered rocking porch and a sunning deck with two chaise lounges adjacent to a 7 person lounger hot tub equipped with L.E.D. lighting and an MP3 / FM stereo sound system! Every seat has a different jet configuration so we have enjoyed playing musical seats in the hot tub! It’s also an especially great spot to enjoy the starlit mountain sky. Our home will sleep up to ten with queen beds in two of the bedrooms, a full bed and twin bunks in the upstairs bedroom, and a queen sofa bed in the loft. The sofa bed has a memory foam mattress and a great long range mountain view! The house has three full baths with tub and shower, with a 9 jet Jacuzzi in the Master Bath! We have added a new full-size ping pong table in the loft as well. While the terrain for many mountain view home locations may feel a bit treacherous for younger kids, our home’s grassy hills are kid-friendly and provide a great place for sledding…on the grass as well as during the occasional winter snow. A fire pit has been installed on the ridge with a panoramic view of the mountains from three 6' custom built spruce benches. A great place for a cookout or to enjoy smors with the lids! The adjacent hillsides are also a favorite morning and evening hang-out for numerous white-tailed deer. Located on the side of the 3500’ Lyle Knob, you don’t even need to get in your car to enjoy some great hiking. Exploring the undeveloped areas of Buck Mountain Estates on switch backing gravel paths provides some great aerobic exercise and stunning views at the higher elevations. Our home is located one mile from US Highway 441, a short 10 minute drive to Franklin in Western North Carolina. It is 75 minutes from the Asheville Airport and 2 ½ hours from the Atlanta Airport. The cleaning fee is a separate charge payable directly to our housekeeper upon check out. The rate varies depending on the number of guests: 1 to 2 Guests: $75.00 3 to 4 Guests: $100.00 5 to 6 Guests: $125.00 7 to 10 Guests: $150.00 Long Term Rentals (3 weeks or longer): $150.00 Pet Cleaning Fee: $25 Our Franklin vacation home is an unexpected blessing. We chose it for its spectacular mountain views and easy access to Franklin and its many suburban amenities. We chose Franklin because of its central location in Western North Carolina making it a great base from which to explore all that this great area has to offer. Blessing Ridge is a spectacular vacation home. Everyone who has visited is blown away by the 180 degree long range mountain views that we enjoy there. We love the view when the sky is clear and you can see for miles. And we love the view when it's raining and the clouds are rolling in and out among the many layers of ridges we can see from. In most places the view stays constant....but not in the mountains. The personality of the view can change in minutes which is always exciting. The hot tub and sunning deck...along with the substantial wrap around covered porch for dining and rocking...the dining room windows...and the living room view wall allow you the freedom to enjoy the view no matter what the weather. Even when the sun goes down...the outline of the distant mountains remains...and on a clear night the stars from the hot tub are breathtaking! The gas fireplace creates a great ambiance for reading, visiting, playing games or napping. And while it feels like you are on top of the world...with only the mountains in view...you're only 10 minutes from the amenities of Franklin which feels surprisingly suburban for a town of only 3000 people...with Gem Mining, two McDonald's and the 1500 seat Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts which regularly hosts Broadway touring shows! It is a very unique place to vacation and to explore all that Western North Carolina has to offer...including waterfalls within a 20 minute drive and whitewater rafting within 30 minutes. You won't regret your stay!
