The SpaceWhile this is a private villa, guests have access to the L'Ermitage Hotel restaurant and bar, as well as the swimming pool. We have a standard room (Passage Room) R950 per night with a double bed, shower, basin and toilet en-suite. We have a luxury room (De Luxe) R1250 per night with a kingsize bed which can be made into two single beds if you wish with a large complete bathroom consisting of bath, double basins, bidet, toilet and large shower en-suite. We also have a Family Room for groups or the single traveler or those who do not wish to share a double bed at R550 per single bed per night. This section of the house consists of a room with a King size (R1100) or two single beds and two single beds (R350) in the adjoining lounge. The room has a shower, basin, bidet & toilet en-suite. This section can be booked by 3/4 people provided they are prepared to share the bathroom. One person may book a single bed and will not be expected to share with anyone else. The SpaceThe house is fllled with archival photos of a 1912 safari taken by the owner's grandfather, as well as contemporary photos of South African life. Large bright rooms leading out to a spacious dining/lounging terrace with views of vineyards and mountains. Guest AccessA manager will greet guests, show them around, and is available for any questions or services, such as reservations to the top restaurants and spas, catering a dinner, or a chef's services. Daily maid service, a car and driver, as well as a custom stocked refrigerator and wine cellar are included. Beds have Italian linens and down duvets. Ensuite bathrooms are stocked with thick towels and the best products. The salt water pool is solar heated and the property is secure behind 15' hedge/stone wall and a remote-controlled iron gate. 'The Hedges' is just a five min. walk from the center of town. Bicycles for use by guests. Interaction with GuestsThe owners will not be present. The NeighborhoodFranschhoek is the premier food and wine village in all of South Africa. Restaurants are varied, artisnal and innovative. Most are very reasonably priced. The village feels like a cross between Napa and Provence, with lavender hedges, wineries, and Europeans everywhere, but the birdsong and Fynbos scents are uniquely South African. There is a screening room with 20 huge leather armchairs in which to watch quirky movies, while sipping complimentary wine. Hiking trails, trout fishing and horseback wine tours are optional diversions, as well as dozens of wineries for tasting and myriad shops to explore. The valley is bordered on all sides by mountains, and lush vineyards are everywhere. Getting AroundThere is no convenient public transport, but a driver can pick up at the Cape Town airport or in the city. Other Things to NoteThere is a minimum four day stay at The Hedges.

The SpaceBerry Cottage is a 2-bedroomed self-catering cottage set in a garden on a small berry farm. It is 5kms from Franschhoek. 1 x double-bedroom ensuite, 1 x 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds with an adjacent bathroom. The cottage is well-appointed with cotton percale linen. It has a relaxed and warm feel. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a microwave, 2-plate stove with small oven and fridge. The fireplace in the lounge allows for cosy winter evenings. La Motte wine estate is the immediate neighbour - its restaurant, art gallery, museum and wine tasting is within walking distance, as are Goederust Farm Kitchen and Bread & Wine restaurant. Franschhoek offers wine tasting, culinary experiences, art galleries and spas. Nelson Mandela statue is close by at the Drakenstein prison and is worth a visit. There are also hikes, mountain biking, trout fishing and horse riding for the energetic in the area. Berry Cottage is an ideal place to experience the many Franschhoek festivals such as the Literary Festival in May, Bastille Day in July, the music festival in October or the Champagne Festival in December.

If you are going to choose one place as your base, Franschhoek should be it. The Map Room is situated on the last remaining dirt-track on the edge of the village, yet only 5 mins walk from the main buzz of the high street. Getting AroundMost guests staying will arrive by their own car or rental car. It is very easy to drive around on your own and the roads and signs are very good. There is limited public transport to and around Franschhoek. We now have a Tuk-Tuk service in the village and the Wine Tram is a good way of exploring the vineyards.

The SpaceThe Tea House is close enough to bustle of the main road but far away enough to enjoy some peace and quiet. Guest AccessThere is a comfortable double bed, place to make tea (and food). A warm shower and your own entrance. Interaction with GuestsWe are around in the evenings but during the day Ms Bulelwa Keli will assist you and ensure you are welcome. We will pop in and say hi to check if all is okay and we will only bug you if you happen to be drinking a decent wine. The NeighborhoodWe border on an olive groves and stables. Up the road are 4 wine estates you can visit. Or you can walk down to the main road (+/- 1 km) where the shops and restaurants are located. But talk to us about Bathos place if you want an alternative. Getting AroundPublic transport in Franschhoek is non existent so the alternatives are hire a car, walk, hire a bike, or call a taxi (I have numbers of reliable locals who can help you). There is a nice alternative which is the Franschhoek tram. Other Things to NoteWiFi is available but it can be sketchy at times....don't bank on streaming a movie. There is no "one eyed monster" (B Kingsolver, 2000).

Offering excellent security in one of South Africa's safest towns, our Tenement has easy, walkable access to just about everything in the village. Guest AccessOur house is your house. The Tenement is adjacent to an upmarket boutique shopping centre with in-house cafe deli and high-end restaurant. Also within walking distance of a major supermarket and the whole Franschhoek high street with five-star dining. A nearby 'tram' provides access to the major wine farms, with Chamonix wine estate just at the top of our street. Interaction with GuestsThe place is all yours and we'll be about an hour away in Cape Town. We're regulars to Franschhoek, so our 'insider' advice is just a phone-call or text message away. The NeighborhoodIt's a quiet and rural neighbourhood just a few minutes walk to the restaurants, galleries and boutiques of Franschhoek high street. Converted old shop in quiet side street. Also easily walkable are the wine farms. There's a great cafe/deli (as well as five-star restaurant) virtually in-house. The main house is surrounded by high walls and has a fully working alarm system, with an electric gate to the car parking area (easily accommodates 2 cars). The property has full air conditioning throughout and the main living room also benefits from 2 ceiling fans and a gas fitted fireplace. Guests will have full access to the gardens and pool area, with the use of a BBQ if required, and there is wifi available throughout the property. The Franschhoek Wine Tram is a great way to relax and wine taste, the village stop is roughly a 10 minute walk from the cottage...a small stroll is probably a good idea after a day of wine tasting! We welcome you to a wonderful place. Two stylish self-catering lodges are located in this high-security estate, facing the Jack Nicklaus golf course. Each lodge has 3 bedrooms, two double and one twin room. All bedrooms are en suite, two of which have Jacuzzi baths, and there is heating and airconditioning throughout the lodges. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences, including a washing machine and dishwasher. There is DSTV, CD and DVD players. There are beautiful balconies on each of the three levels and the ground floor the balcony overlooks a lake and has a built in barbeque for guests that like the outdoor life. There is undercover car parking for guests’ vehicles. Guests can also take advantage of the golf club, and play at special rates, and the magnificent clubhouse also boasts two restaurants, a swimming pool complex, and a spa with an on site hairdresser. The estate, which has 24-hour security, is situated between Paarl and Franschhoek, in close proximity to fantastic restaurants and wine estates. We’ll happily provide recommendations and make bookings for restaurants, wine tours etc and can also provide wine tastings and arrange for shipment back to Europe and the UK. Special rates apply for guests that would like to book a lodge for a period of more than 7 days. Children are most welcome as the estate is a lovely safe place for them to run around. AMENITIES Clubhouse With panoramic views of the Paarlberg mountains, the clubhouse is the social hub of the Estate community, providing a relaxed, yet upmarket setting for golfers, residents and visitors. The terrace and bar overlook the 9th & 18th greens and are the perfect venues for sundowners. The Clubhouse also includes the Valley Restaurant, golfers lounge, Spa, hairdresser, Golf Shop and locker rooms. The Pool This scenic area is a great place to unwind and relax with friends and family on a sun-drenched South African day or the perfect place to escape to the heat of the day, whether you’ve spent it out on the course, rigorously exercising or simply lounging around. At the beautiful members and guest only pool area, one can relax on a lounger or socialize in the pool bar. There is also a kids’ pool complete with water slide in close proximity Tennis Court Two regulation size tennis courts are available, encouraging the Estate's focus on family fun and healthy living. Breathe Spa Breathe Spa is situated in the Clubhouse. Treat your partner to a day at the spa while you enjoy a game of golf and a delicious lunch together at the Valley Restaurant. The spa provides a full range soothing treatments which will help you unwind after an exhilarating day on the course. Equestrian Centre A full-scale, custom-built Equestrian Centre provides the ultimate experience for riders of all ages. Appreciate the picturesque setting of Pearl Valley on horseback through the vineyards and hiking paths. Residents are permitted to stable their own horses on the Estate. The Boma Situated on the banks of the Berg River, this rustic, outdoor venue can accommodate up to 150 people. The Boma is perfect for sundowners, picnics and barbeques. The Valley Restaurant Every visit to the legendary restaurant at Pearl Valley Golf Estates is a memorable one. Our highly trained culinary teams – some selected from the local community - are passionate about delighting every patron. As the proud custodian of a vast selection of award-winning wines and the freshest regional and imported produce with inspired choices, The Valley Restaurant is one of the top eating establishments of the area. The Bar Overlooking the 9th and18th hole, the Bar is the perfect setting to relax after a game of golf and watch a perfect sunset on Pearl Valley Golf Estates. With multiple Flat screens, the bar is the place to be should there be a sporting fixture on TV. The bar not only offers a wide variety of single malts, wines as well as beers, but also has its own snack menu which changes every so often. Mike's Deli Offering convenient foods and delicacies, Mike's Deli is a wonderful attribute to the Clubhouse. Open from Monday to Sunday, the Deli caters to Home Owners, Members and public.
