The SpaceA perfect place to relax and unwind after taking time to discover the best of the Bay of Plenty with its abundant bush walks, rivers, lakes and the famous active volcano "White Island" is easily accessible. A combination of Morocco meets Tuscany. Amazing views across the valley, harbour, bush and river and sea. Guest AccessThe living room, kitchen and courtyard are all available for your enjoyment. Your own bathroom and toilet. Also use of garden. Interaction with GuestsI am always happy to help with any questions, queries or give suggestions on how to explore the area to your liking. I am a very open person and love to converse with people from around the world but if you are happy to keep to yourself then I will respect that as well. You can request an evening meal if you decide to stay on farm or cook your own. Also a relaxing massage and energy balance can be booked in advance. I can also speak German and Farsi. The name of my farm is Passione de la vita. Passion for life is what we are best at. The NeighborhoodThe house is on a lifestyle block with plenty of space to roam and a stunning view of the mountains and valleys surrounding the harbour. The nearest convenience store is within a 15 minute drive which is why I am happy to offer breakfast during your stay or offer evening meals upon arrangements. Whakatane is about 20mins drive and Rotorua and Tauranga about hour and a half away. We have horses and a dog and chicken. its a relaxed and fun household with magical lighting at nighttime .Always ready to help to make your stay a truly magical one.Therapeutic massage and healing can be provided by prior arrangement .We love to cook and use fresh and exotic ingredients .Passione de la vita is the name of this land and home and we strive to live the Passion for life ,which is very easy to do here.Ps .coffee lovers will get a treat. Getting AroundUnfortunately public transport is not available by the house so having a private car is necessary as in most small NZ towns to truly discover the beauty of the area. We are situated approximately 20min by car from the towns of Opotiki and Whakatane and 15 min to Ohope which has several restaurants/cafes and a small supermarket. Rotorua, a town famous for its volcanic activity and other tourist attractions is just an hour and a half travel by car with many opportunities to stop at a lake or natural hot water river along the way. Other Things to NoteDelicious home-cooked breakfast, lunch (or picnic) dinner by arrangement. Massage by arrangement. Kayaking and sightseeing tours by arrangement. Cellphone coverage for most networks. Host speaks German and Farsi. Directions : If coming from ohope beach (direction Opotiki) turn right onto Stanley Rd. If travelling from Opotiki/east cape (direction ohope/whakatane) turn left onto Stanley Rd. After about 1min you'll see a row of mailboxes on the left. Directly opposite the first letter boxes is a gravel road which you will follow to the bottom. My land starts at the gate with a "passione Della vita" sign on it. You can park your car inside the gate on the grass patch to the right. You will not make it up without a 4 wheel drive so I am more than happy to collect you at the bottom gate or you can walk up for two minutes. cellphone coverage is sparse in the area so its best to be organised before your arrival. Please note: sometimes (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps can direct you to enter Stanley Rd from Taneatua which is a longer and more difficult route which I would not advise.

The SpaceRecommended by Lonely Planet and with a TripAdvisor rating of 5 stars, this strictly smoke-free Hawke's Bay, New Zealand property offers a restful rural location, half-way from Wairoa township to Lake Waikaremoana. In addition to your Continental, Asian, or full cooked breakfast (including freshly-laid eggs), we provide optional evening meals (Thai, 7 days, and Kiwi, Saturday and Sunday evenings), and for stays of two or more nights, optional lunches as well. Discover Lake Road B&B's epicurean delights (note that the closest restaurant is a 40 minute return trip to Wairoa township). This location is especially convenient not only for romantic couples or adventurous hikers, but for aerospace executives and rocket scientists and technicians associated with Rocket Lab's Orbital Launch Site on the Mahia Peninsula, as well as professional advisors visiting the Kaitawa, Tuai and Piripaua Hydro Power Schemes, and local farms. Our Super-King Sealy Posturepaedic beds, dressed with luxury linens, assure a restful sleep after spending the day trout fishing at Lake Waikaremoana, swinging in a hammock in our expansive garden, or resting on a lounger with a glass of wine, beer or juice in your hand. Rooms: three rooms are available - one Queen and two others, each with Super Kings. A shared bathroom is dedicated to guests. A cot is available. If you require this, please make a special request for the 'Orange Tree Room'. Lake Waikaremoana is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters of the central jewel of Te Urewera. Te Urewera is an enchanted land where the very land itself has been granted its own legal personality through s11 of the Te Urewera Act 2014. The concept of te whenua (the land) being able to protect itself from those who would do it harm is an intriguing concept - one which resonates with many First Nations peoples and those who have an interest in eco-justice or protection of ecosystems and the environment generally. Consider staying two nights or more, and also take in the Mahia Peninsula (a renowned surfing area and now home to the world's first privately-held space launch facility - Rocket Lab's Orbital Launch Site), Morere Hot Springs, and other scenic wonders of Wairoa district. For same-day arrivals, remember that we may be elsewhere in the region on the day that you wish to check in - so the standard 2pm check-in time may not apply. Consequently, it is essential that you make contact with us so that you can be advised of your same-day check-in time. There is no mobile phone reception at this site, therefore, you will need to (a) first dial (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), and if no reception/answer, dial (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) - to confirm your arrival instructions/timing. Guest AccessThe expansive gardens, the verandahs, and the leather-suited lounge (with cable and widescreen TV, with Sky Sport (and the Rugby Channel) for those keen sports fans)) are available for your use. Guests have access to the lounge, and a bathroom shared with other guests. Expansive gardens are littered with hammocks and loungers (8) for your relaxation (note: we have six hammocks - so if you need more erected, just ask). Free access to high speed internet is provided, along with complimentary welcoming wine and/or beer, or fruit juices. Interaction with GuestsWe are entirely flexible with regard to how much interaction you wish to have with us. Meals are usually shared 'family style' - but if you wish to eat alone - just let us know. In warmer months, Lake Road B&B is renowned for 'The Long Thai Table'. Guests eat under the stars in the garden, surrounded by long silken Thai banners hanging from the large tree that you sit beneath. fairy lights and candles festoon the table, and floodlights highlight the beautiful forest and garden surrounding you. Meals are gourmet, 3 courses, and include two complimentary glasses of wine, two beers, or juices. Thai cuisine is available 7 nights a week. Kiwi cuisine is available on Saturday and Sunday evenings. At NZ$50 per person, they represent fantastic value. Breakfasts are complimentary, and you can choose from Continental, Full Irish (with fresh free range farm eggs from the property), or Asian (Thai-style pork or prawn congee-style rice soup with shredded fresh ginger - delish!). Upon making your booking, a detailed meal preferences survey is forwarded to you so that we can be sure to make your stay a perfect one. The NeighborhoodThis property is rurally located, well away from the State Highway, so is ideal for peace and tranquility. It is the perfect place to stay if you are beginning, or just ending, your Waikaremoana Great Walk, or if you are intending a spot of space launch viewing on Space Coast New Zealand. This neighbourhood is rural, remote, relaxed, peaceful, scenic and soul-nourishing. Perfect for either 'staying put' and unwinding, or for enjoying relaxing day trips to rivers, forests, lakes, beaches, gardens, the Gaiety Theatre (shows and movies), deer hunting, lavender gardens, thermal saltwater springs, secret pools for trout fishing, and rocket launch sites. Getting AroundThere is no public transport. Other Things to NoteThe nearest town (Wairoa) is a 20 minute drive (40 minutes return). We can provide Kiwi fare (Saturday and Sunday evenings only) or gourmet traditional Thai evening meals (Tri is of Thai nationality) (7 days). You can select the chilli/spiciness level of your meals on a scale from 0 to 10. You can also invite non-resident guests to share your dinner with you (up to a maximum of 10 persons in total) if you wish (NZ$50/person, including wine/beer/juices). Advance bookings are essential. We can also provide additional convenient packed lunches for resident guests (NZ$15/person). Please indicate your needs when you book - you will be provided with a detailed meal preferences survey to complete prior to arrival. If possible, please complete this at least 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival time, as that will assist us to have your perfect meal choices ready for your stay. Evening meals (NZ$50 per person) are 3 courses, and include two complimentary beers, juices or glasses of wine. You can also purchase fine whiskies and liqueurs should you wish. On advance request, a chilled bottle of Moet and Chandon (Brut) (NZ$90) can await you in your room.

Guest AccessYou will have your own room and will share the bathroom and all other common areas with your hosts. Interaction with GuestsYou can be as private or as social as you wish. The NeighborhoodWe are located ten minutes drive from one end of the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk. High on a hill, our house overlooks the village of Tuai and Lake Whakamarino. Sitting on the deck, you can imagine that you are in the middle of the bush as there are no houses visible - peace and relaxation abound. On the outskirts of Tuai, there is a cafe called Big Bush which NOW AND AGAIN provides meals. Recent guests have been disappointed because staff would not cook for only two people, so please check the internet for phone number, making reservations and further details. Safest of all, bring your own food! Getting AroundThe drive from Wairoa (our nearest town to the east) takes approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour; the drive from Murupara (at the western end of the Urewera National Park) takes approximately 3-4 hours, most of which is on a hilly, winding, unsealed road. Allow 4-5 hours from Rotorua and fill up with petrol there before you enter Te Urewera. Remember that there are also no shops after Murupara. Once you get to the Lake, however, camping food and petrol are available at the Holiday Park. Other Things to NotePLEASE READ CAREFULLY: We just want to be sure that international visitors in particular know that we live in a very beautiful but very isolated place. Apart from a small shop at the Lake Waikaremoana Holiday Park, there are virtually NO CAFES, SHOPS, PETROL OR CELL PHONE COVERAGE between Murupara and Wairoa, so top up your petrol tank and bring your own food (apart from breakfast). You are very welcome to use our kitchen and our bbq. If you are driving from Rotorua, you should allow up to 5 hours. Also - if this is your first trip through Te Urewera - please try to drive during the day. We generally pass less than 20 cars in the 2 hours of unsealed roads, so finding help if you break down or there is a slip, is likely to be problematic!!
