The SpaceThis lovely, spacious room is located in a quiet Frederick neighborhood just outside the city limits. My house is very peaceful and a perfect escape. The SpaceCozy, Compact and Safe This is a self contained Sprinter RV, which has full hookups to water and electricity.... It's a great place for just one person, and 'cozy' for two. But not three..... three is too much. The shower is tiny, but functional. I am 6'3" and I can manage get cleaned off without straining and muscles. I consider the bed to be super comfortable. It's wider than a queen bed, but only about 6'2" long. My feet hang over the edge a little, or I can hog the bed and sleep diagonally. :-) There is a television inside, attached to a media center in which I have a large library of movies and television series for you to watch. It does not connect to my household cable TV (yet), nor does it pick up any broadcast television stations here. We have high speed WiFi access, and it reaches Hugo now via a WiFi extender I installed. There is a small refrigerator, microwave and cooking surface... but it's probably easier to come inside the house and cook there if you like. What are you making? That smells good! Fresh towels and sheets are included. Guest AccessYou'll obviously have access to the entire RV, which has full hookups.... You'll have a key to the RV, but don't try to drive it away! I have a steering wheel lock installed..... I have a wonderful little garden/yard that you can relax in, and possibly start a fire in the Chiminea. You are welcome to join us in the house as well to hang out. If you prefer a more spacious bathroom, you are welcome to use the one inside the house if we are home.... Interaction with GuestsLet's chat about travel!! We've probably been there already! We have two affectionate cats in the house. They don't usually go inside the van, so you won't have any allergy issues there, and probably not in the house either since we have wood floors and vacuum often. (somebody is vacuum obsessed) The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quaint and quiet, mostly occupied by retirees. Hugo is parked within my fenced-in garden behind my house, it is on a dead-end alley that only two neighbors use, so there is virtually no activity. Getting AroundWe are located within about a pleasant 12 minute walk from the center of activity in Frederick, and about 18 minutes from the MARC Train station. There are evening commuter trains FROM Washington DC, that return TO DC in the mornings (early). These trains run weekdays only. No holidays. Other Things to NoteBehind my property, divided by a fence, is a small apartment complex that may concern you at first. (as it did me when I bought the place). But I assure you that it is occupied by respectable people as well, there has never been an issue with noise or general buffoonery.

It's easy to walk or bike anywhere downtown. A car is only needed to get to some of the big box stores or chain restaurants. Cabs & Uber are available, but can get bogged down on busy nights. We are about an hour from DC, depending on traffic. Harpers Ferry is 30 mins away. There are lots of parks & historical sites close by including: Antietam National Battlefield, Monocacy, Catoctin Mountain Park, the C&O Canal, Gambrill State Park, Cunningham Falls, and more. Walking Distance: Baker Park, Carroll Creek, The Weinberg Center, VOLT Restaurant, Frederick Keys Baseball Stadium, The Civil War Medical Museum, Frederick County Historical Society, Mount Olivet Cemetery & Francis Scott Key's grave & memorial, & lots of other downtown destinations. Other Things to NoteWe own a Lab/Shepherd mix dog but he won't be home during your stay, unless you'd like him to be. He is a total sweetheart & gets along well w/ other dogs of all sizes. We keep a very clean house, with monthly maid service. Do not park on our side of the street on late Sunday evenings/early Monday am (12:00am-7:00am) or Thursday am (12:00am-7:00am) due to street sweeping. They do ticket, so just be aware. Tickets run $20-$40.

He stays on the first floor of the house. There is also a dog gate at the bottom of the stairs to keep him from the 2nd floor. On Sunday nights you'll need to park on the opposite side of the street from our house, due to the street cleaning schedule. Signs also indicate this. Otherwise you risk a parking ticket.

You have access to our entire basement with its own private entrance, as well as our backyard with deck, grill, and swing set. Our laundry area is in the basement, and there is a chance we will need to come down and use it during your stay (unlikely if you have a short stay, more likely for a longer stay). It is right at the bottom of the stairs, so we won't need to enter your space too much. You are welcome to throw in a load if you need to, feel free to use a scoop of our all-natural detergent. Interaction with GuestsOur rental gives you the best of both worlds, the basement is very private while the backyard and deck are communal space. We would love to enjoy a cool drink on the deck and tell you more about what Frederick has to offer. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is close to downtown but without all the hustle and bustle. The homes were built in the 1940's and 1950's, and the residents are a mix of original owners, young families, and middle-aged professionals. The on-street parking is free and there is plenty of it. Our house is also conveniently located a few blocks from Hood College and Ft. Detrick including NIH and NCI. So if you're in town for work, we're a good home away from home. Getting AroundWe have easy access to US 15, I-70, and I-270. Our house is also one block from a bus stop which can get you anywhere in Frederick including the MARC Train station.
