The SpaceBreathe a sigh of relief as you settle into this "country foresquare" farm home, which has been lovingly restored to its former glory, and furnished with period antiques. The kitchen and bathroom have been completely modernized, but with sensitivity to the age of the home. Expect to see a few of the dozen or so deer who make the property their home, among the many maple trees on the property. The Maples is 15 minutes from Fredericton (north side), and 5-10 minutes from Mactaquac Park, which includes the beautiful Mactaquac Golf Course, and "TreeGo". Skiing at Crabbe Mountain is within 20 minutes. A Convenience Store and Bakery are five minutes away on Yerxa Lane in the little village of Keswick. Douglas Diner is just a little further down on highway 105. The Capital City of Fredericton has many cultural amenities and restaurants in one of Canada's most beautifully restored Victorian downtowns, nestled along the Saint John River. Canoe the Saint John, the "Mississippi of the North", or one of its many tributaries. Expect "down home" friendly service as you check in to "The Maples", right across the street, but enjoy the privacy of renting an entire house. Your hosts are never far away if you should need anything. There is a full bath (complete with clawfoot tub), and two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a unique antique queen sized bed, while the second bedroom has two twin sized beds. All of the floors are refinished hardwood and softwood. The kitchen is new and well equipped for you to prepare your own meals. The Maples is the perfect home base for exploring the Maritimes, as Fredericton is central to New Brunswick, and just over an hour from Saint John, where you can catch the "Fundy Rose" ferry to Digby, Nova Scotia. Moncton is two hours away, and from there, Prince Edward Island beckons. We'd love to have you visit! Guest AccessYour space is the entire farmhouse and its estate. Feel free to stroll the country property. Interaction with GuestsAs required by you, our guests. We are across the street. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is pleasantly rural, and very picturesque, nestled along the Saint John River. The Maples is a beautiful 15 minute drive from Fredericton. Mactaquac Park is minutes away, with sailing, a golf course, and a river-beach. Getting AroundThe Fredericton Airport is 40 minutes away, in Lincoln, NB. Your connection to the Trans Canada Highway is 15 km away, at Longs Creek.

The SpaceThe house has more space than I can fill, so having visitors is great. The guest room has a basic double bed, a small desk space with drawers, and a closet. The basement has a fold-out double futon if needed. Guest AccessAll of the main floor (kitchen, living-dining space), basement entertainment space with large screen with DVD player and washer-dryer room, and in the 2nd floor: bedroom and bathroom. Interaction with GuestsI can give you a tour of the downtown (I'm a city planner so I can lend a particular view of the city), and recommend places to eat, pubs, cultural sights, etc. The NeighborhoodThe Town Plat is the old, original grid of the city that was extended up to where the hill begins to rise. It is the quaintest neighbourhood in Fredericton, very walkable and pleasant. Getting AroundIf you come by bus, the house is literally behind the regional bus station (Maritime Bus). If you drive, my driveway is empty so you can park there. There is space for two cars. If you bike, there is space in the shed to store the bike. Other Things to NoteMust be LGBT-friendly, pets maybe (we can discuss that). The bed could fit two, so if you are a couple you can both stay but it could be a bit tight. Also, I don't have internet but there's a Tim's one block down Smythe that has WiFi. IMPORTANT: If you want to reach me quickly, text me because I only have Internet at work and I might not get your email until the next day.
