Foxfield Inn is a modern bed and breakfast located in the rolling countryside of Charlottesville, VA. We are minutes away from the Blue Ridge Mountains, many great wineries, UVA and Monticello. If you are looking to getaway and relax in comfort look no further. We have 5 uniquely appointed guestrooms for you to enjoy - 4 with fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs. All are located on the first floor (there is only one floor - no stairs to climb with luggage!). Enjoy breakfast in the Sunroom. We serve a three course breakfast ending with a small dessert (who doesn't like a Sweet Ending?). We source as many of our ingredients from local farms (eggs and pork come from the farm across the road - can't get much more local than that). Dan grinds coffee beans every day so you have the freshest coffee available. After spending the day visiting one of the three President's homes in the area, going to UVA, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains or sipping wine at one the nearby wineries come back to the inn and relax in the outdoor hot tub. Then head out to dinner at one of the area's many fine restaurants. We hope to see you soon! Twin air mattress is also available if needed. * Full-sized kitchen with full-sized appliances (Refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster oven, garbage disposal). * Kitchen has dishes, pots and pans, and utensils. * Private entrance and off-street parking. * Approximately 15-20 minutes to UVA and downtown Charlottesville. Twenty-five minutes to Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. * Good chance of seeing wildlife (deer, squirrels, birds are the most likely visitors. Foxes and raccoons less frequently. Black bear if you are extremely lucky). Full Description: Your accommodation is a large studio apartment on the lower level of our home. The apartment is clean, carpeted (new carpet as of August 2015), and has lots of light. One of its best features is the beautiful wooded surroundings. Deer, squirrels, and birds are abundant. You may even see a fox or a raccoon! The apartment has its own private entrance, so you can come and go as you please with no worries. The apartment also has a shaded patio and off-street parking. Its furnishings include a king-sized bed, a twin bed, 40" TV with TiVo, Netflix, and CD player, a sofa, and an easy chair. A fourth guest is welcome to sleep on our air mattress. The bathroom is recently renovated with a pedestal sink and bamboo flooring. The apartment has a full kitchen, which includes a full-sized refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster oven. The apartment has wireless internet. A washer and dryer is available if needed. The apartment is located in a very quiet and safe area approximately 8 miles west of Charlottesville. To get here, you must travel of 0.4 miles on a well-maintained gravel road. The road is perfectly fine. An SUV is NOT needed here. I only mention the road so that you will not be surprised. It takes about 15 minutes to drive to downtown Charlottesville and the University of Virginia from here, and about twenty-five minutes to drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive/Shenandoah National Park. You might also enjoy exploring the numerous vineyards that are nearby. My family and I (two adults and one child) live in the upper part of the house. We do not smoke and have no pets. Check out my guidebook (link is at the upper right of this page) to see some of my favorite area attractions. Guest AccessGuests have access to off-street parking, a basketball goal, and a shared washer and dryer. Interaction with GuestsI do my best to greet guests when they first arrive to welcome them (you) to Charlottesville and to show them around the apartment. Whenever we have chance encounters, I always try to check with them to make sure they are comfortable in the apartment. If guests need to reach me when they are here, I encourage them to knock on the door to my house, call me, or text. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is so full of nature. We have a mix of beautiful Virginia forests, rolling fields, vineyards, and horse farms. Every season is beautiful here. We are within an easy drive of the cultural and historical attractions of Charlottesville, but just far enough out of the city to have true peace and quiet. In the summer when the leaves are on the trees, only one other home is visible from our house. In the winter, only three homes are (barely) visible. Ahhhh.... Getting AroundRegrettably, we have no public transportation in our neighborhood. Transport is by car or bicycle (cycling is a very popular sport here. You will see many cyclists when you visit). I guess you could also ride your horse (horses are a big deal in this part of Virginia), but keep in mind that we don't have a bed for your horse. Other Things to NoteThe apartment can be accessed by wheelchair via a smooth but slightly downhill sidewalk. The apartment has enough room to easily maneuver a wheelchair. The shower, however, is not a walk-in or roll-in shower.

The SpaceFoxfield Inn is a modern Bed & Breakfast inn in the countryside outside of Charlottesville. When you drive to our inn you will go past estates, farms and a horse-racing track. We offer you a chance to relax and unwind while you stay with us. OK, we are foodies! We source as many ingredients locally as we can. Our eggs and pork come from the farm across the street, we source from a local whole-animal butcher (fantastic bacon!) and our produce comes from just up the road. We also grow our own herbs, make everything from scratch and grind our own coffee beans. A 3-course breakfast is served in the light and airy Sunroom. We start with fruit and bakery items such as scones, muffins, tea breads, or pastries. Then it's a hot entree - one day savory, the next day sweet. And we end our meal with a "Sweet Ending" - such as home made ice cream, flourless chocolate cake or a lemon chiffon mousse. We meet the high quality standards set by Select Registry, Bed & (URL HIDDEN) Diamond Collection and the Bed & Breakfast Association of Virginia. When the weather is nice guests love to explore the country lane beside our property and to sit on the park benches in our backyard. Guest AccessGuests can make themselves at home in our Gathering room with floor-to-ceiling windows on opposite walls or our smaller Sitting room. Both rooms have fireplaces. A 3-course breakfast is served in the light and airy Sunroom. There is a Guest Pantry with refrignerator, microwave, Keurig coffee and tea kettle. There is also a cookie jar, fresh fruit, bottled water and soft drinks for the guests to enjoy at no extra cost. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the inn but in separate quarters. Interaction with us can be as much or as little as you want. Do not hesitate to let us know if you need any assistance. The SpaceChoose any or all of our three modern bedrooms in our farmhouse on a working pastured livestock farm, about 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville. *PLEASE NOTE* Price is $70 per room. If you want one room, say 2 people when booking. If you want two rooms, say 4 people ($70x2 = $140). If you want three rooms, say 6 people ($210). We have two listings for our home. If you are seeking a secluded getaway or a gathering place for a large group, please check out our "entire home" listing. This is our shared space listing. It is less expensive because you will share the house with us, the farm owners, and a couple farmhands who live downstairs with their own entrance. However, we are not like a hostel. Even if you only book one room, you will never share the house with another group of guests. All three bedrooms share one bathroom with a small shower. Another 1/2 bath is available on the first floor. We hope to renovate the bathroom soon, but in the meantime it is a bright, functional space to get clean. We offer organic shampoo and Turkish towels to make the experience as luxurious as we can. Guests can cook in our kitchen and help themselves to complimentary coffee, tea, and eggs from our farm. Our living room is large and comfortable, with an antique Steinway piano that has been in our family for decades. There are several places to dine - on bar stools in the kitchen, al fresco on the screened-in porch, or at our giant handmade dining table that seats 12 - perfect for a dinner party if you are traveling with a large group. Views of our garden, woods, and fields surround you. We have meat available for purchase as well as seasonal vegetables and herbs, all grown right here. We enjoy a country lifestyle, but have fast Wi-Fi so you don't have to leave the world behind if you don't want to. There is ample space for parking. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to relax on our porches, take a picnic and blanket out into the field, swing in the hammock under our oak trees, or snuggle up on our enormous, handmade couch. Please keep in mind that this is a working farm, so we have electric fences and cow paddies aplenty. All the animals we raise are rotated to new ground frequently, meaning there may be a lot to see or just a little. You are welcome to take a guided tour with us, time permitting, in exchange for purchasing $50 or more of our farm products. If it is feasible for you to wander around and observe the animals on your own, we will let you know where to go. Interaction with GuestsWe like to be here to greet guests and give you the lay of the land. Reminder: this is our shared space listing, so we will be coming and going as normal during your stay. You are welcome to keep to yourself, or if you're the social sort, feel free to share a drink or a meal with us when our day is done. Our work days often start before sunrise or extend into the evening. We are incredibly busy from April - November but do our best to clock out at a reasonable hour when guests are here. The NeighborhoodWe are right in the middle of Virginia wine country, so if you are here to make a trip out of visiting wineries, you've come to the right place. King Family, Stinson, Glass House, White Hall, Mountfair, Pollak, and Grace Estates Vineyards are all within 10 miles of us. Or if you're in town for a wedding (there are many venues nearby), this is the perfect spot. Bridal parties or groomsmen are welcome too - photographers will love our setting for photographs. If you're here for a UVA graduation or an alumni event, we are a quick 20 minute drive to Grounds. We can easily accommodate your whole family for the big day. Getting AroundAsk us if you're interested in pick-up or drop-off at the airport or Amtrak station. We're located northwest of Charlottesville in farm and wine country. We live on a gravel road about halfway between Free Union and White Hall. If you arrive at night, please be aware our road is dark. You are not lost, you are just in the country, and it is perfectly safe here. Sometimes the road is bumpy, dusty, or muddy - but that's rural living and part of why we love it here. There is no public transportation in our immediate area. Other Things to NoteWe have 2 friendly dogs, so please keep that in mind you have extreme allergies. They are not allowed upstairs so the guest rooms are impeccably clean. Despite our best efforts, the occasional ladybug or stink bug is just a part of life in the country. We do what we can to keep these critters in check, but don't be surprised if they make an appearance. Smoking outside only. Gay friendly! All kind folks are welcome here.

The SpaceBuilt in 1910, this unique cottage was originally a country doctor's office, Dr. W.A. Kyger's . He lived in the our farmhouse next door. We have found Indian arrow heads in the yard which is littered with Quartz. Guest AccessGuests will have the Cottage to themselves. There is an office that is closed off and not used during your stay. You have access to a large yard, fire pit, gardens, private patio, own driveway, own full kitchen. The yard includes the use of yard games; ladder golf, bocce, croquet, kadima, badminton, frisbee. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to share our love and knowledge of beautiful and historic Albemarle County/Charlottesville. Yet we respect our guests' need for down time and privacy and will take their lead on how much interaction they desire. The NeighborhoodLocated in the heart of Virginia wine country. You will be enchanted by the views and countryside as you drive around the area. We have an incredible location with Charlottesville 9 miles in one direction, Crozet 11 miles in another direction and the airport/Earlysville area 9 miles in yet another direction. You can get to the entrance of Shenandoah National Park in 34 minutes (23 miles) or be hiking at Humpback Rocks on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 42 minutes (29 miles). Our location is excellent! There is a one room post office, a unique country store* (closed on Sunday) and family doctors office all walking distance. *Get a Free Union T-shirt or a Free Union (FU) Sticker. Getting AroundThe area is not serviced by public transportation. The area is a popular bicycle route. Bring your motorcycle or bicycle and cruise the rolling hills and countryside. Car rentals are available in town or at the airport. Other Things to NoteBREAKFAST/MEAL INFO: You have a full working kitchen to prepare meals. Coffee and tea are provided with filters, sugar, and creamer. There is a country store directly across the street that sells eggs, milk, bread etc. They are open M-F 7am-6pm and Saturday 7am-5pm. Closed Sunday. NOTE: Hours may vary. PETS: If you are bringing a four legged friend: we have a dog bed, water and food bowls and poop bags (in the kitchen drawer). Please pick up after them in the yard. There is also a 20' long tether for the yard in the shed if you want to relax while your pet is outside. If you are coming in late, grab some food on your way in from Charlottesville (great foodie town) and bring it back to enjoy at the cottage.

The SpaceThis is the ENTIRE HOME LISTING of our house which we have also listed as a shared space. We have many perfect reviews through that listing, so please give it a look (there are more photos!) to read all the sweet things our guests have said. There are three guest bedrooms each with a queen sized bed. All three rooms share a bathroom with shower. Another 1/2 bath is available on the first floor. We hope to renovate the bathroom soon, but in the meantime it is a bright, functional space to get clean. We offer organic shampoo and Turkish towels to make the experience more luxurious. Although the bathroom is fairly small, we have a massive mirror in the hallway to make getting ready easy for larger groups. We also have a large couch in the living room that sleeps three more close friends or a small family. It is made up of three twin extra long memory foam mattresses disguised as a modern couch. I built it myself! It will be in couch mode when you arrive but we provide blankets and pillows with fresh linens. Guests can cook in our kitchen and help themselves to coffee, eggs, and homemade granola. Our living room is large and comfortable, with an antique Steinway piano that has been in our family for decades. There are several places to dine - on barstools in the kitchen, al fresco on the screened-in porch, or at our giant handmade dining table that seats 12 - perfect for a dinner party if you are traveling with a large group. Views of our garden, woods, and fields surround you. Our front porch is a great place to relax in the morning with your coffee, or drink a glass of wine at night under the café lights that decorate the yard. We have an abundance of seasonally available meat, eggs, veggies, and herbs available for purchase, all grown right here. We enjoy a country lifestyle, but have fast, reliable Wi-Fi so you don't have to leave the world behind if you don't want to. There is ample space for parking. We have all the linens, pillows, and towels so no need to bring your own. Our kitchen is full home kitchen with dishes, glasses, flatware, and cookware, so paper plates or cups are not needed. We have a dishwasher for quick clean-up. We are also on a deep well with delicious drinking water, so please save the plastic and refrain from bringing bottled water. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to relax on our porches, take a picnic and blanket out into the field, swing in the hammock under our oak trees, or snuggle up on our enormous, handmade couch. If you want to see the animals, just ask and we'll send you in the right direction. Please keep in mind that this is a working farm, so we have electric fences and cow paddies aplenty. We'll let you know what to watch out for. Interaction with GuestsWe'll be here to greet you and get you settled in, then we'll leave the place to you. During our busy season (roughly March - November) we, or our two farmhands, stay in our basement apartment with a separate entrance when guests are here. No need to tiptoe - we have guests nearly every weekend. You'll hardly know we're here unless you see us out tending to the animals or working in the garage shop. The NeighborhoodWe are a quick 20 minute drive to UVA and downtown Charlottesville. We are also smack in the middle of Virginia wine country. King Family, Stinson, Glass House, White Hall, Mountfair, Pollak, and Grace Estates Vineyards are all within 10 miles of us. We are also half an hour from the Shenandoah National Park and can direct you towards some of our favorite spots. Getting AroundWe're located west of Charlottesville in farm and wine country. We live on a gravel road about halfway between Free Union and White Hall. Sometimes the road is bumpy, dusty, or muddy - but that's country living and part of why we love it here. There is no public transportation available in our area, so you'll need to have a vehicle to get to us. Other Things to NoteWe have two dogs. You likely won't see them, but those with extreme allergies should keep in mind that they generally share our space. They are never allowed upstairs, in beds, or on couches. Smoking outside only. Gay friendly! All friendly folks are welcome here.

The SpaceThis studio apartment is in the downstairs of our large modern farmhouse which is also available on AirBnB. Please read our many other reviews to see the lovely things our guests have said about their experiences here. The studio apartment is all one room, but a spacious one with all the amenities you could need for a private farm retreat. The full kitchen is sufficiently stocked to cook a gourmet meal if you'd like. We provide complimentary eggs from our farm as well as coffee and tea for breakfast. The space is perfect for two people, but can sleep a total of 4 if you have kids or another couple who need a place to lay their heads. Additionally, there is a patio which is a great place to relax in the morning with your coffee, or drink a glass of wine while you look at the stars. We have an abundance of seasonally available meat, eggs, veggies, and herbs available for purchase, all grown right here. We enjoy a country lifestyle, but have fast, reliable Wi-Fi so you don't have to leave the world behind if you don't want to. There is ample space for parking. We'll let you know what to watch out for. Interaction with GuestsWe'll be here to greet you and get you settled in, then we'll leave you to your own devices. We live upstairs so you may hear us if we're cooking, but the space is well insulated and conversations are inaudible. You'll have full privacy. Since we do have a working farm, you may see us outside tending to the animals or doing chores. Getting AroundAsk us if you're interested in pick-up or drop-off at the airport, or if you need a designated driver to tote you around to area wineries! Our big blue Sprinter van can accommodate 9 people. We're located west of Charlottesville in farm and wine country. We live on a gravel road about halfway between Free Union and White Hall. Sometimes the road is bumpy, dusty, or muddy - but that's country living and part of why we love it here. There is no public transportation available in our area, so you'll need to have a vehicle to get to us. Other Things to NoteThis is a working farm, not an estate farm. You'll see all the signs that this place is in use as a productive operation. If you prefer the country club/golf course look, we may not be the best fit for you. But if you can see the beauty in animals being raised consciously and sustainably, you will love it here! We also have two dogs. They shouldn't bother you since they'll be with us, but those with extreme allergies should keep in mind that they occasionally visit the studio space. They are never allowed in the bed or on the couch, and we clean thoroughly before guest arrival. Just a heads up. Smoking outside only. Gay friendly! All kind folks are welcome here.
