The SpaceIt is very quite and peaceful, an oasis. We have flowers and a garden for seating. The rooms are spacious and airy with AC and hot water available. Guest AccessGuest can have access to restaurant and space like the garden. We have a hall that we rent for small meetings and in-house guests are given special offers. Just let us know what is your need, and as long as it is within our powers it shall be done. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and the front of the property overlooks the sea. The compound is spacious and have a lot of parking space. Getting AroundIt is easy to catch a taxi from my place. It is ideally located between the city center and the lovely beaches in western area of the city.

Guest AccessYou are free to access the kitchen and garden at all times. Interaction with GuestsWe are available to help you with your stay. We have a cook that can make you meals (breakfast and dinner) for £10 a day. Let us know your itinerary and we can arrange your airport transfers (to and from) for £100. We can also hire you a car with driver for the duration of your stay for £50 a day. The NeighborhoodWe are located close to Lumley Beach and not a far drive from Lakka Beach and River No 2 Beach. Getting AroundYou may park a car in the gated car park. You can hire a taxi from the main road. There are also small local shops to buy fruits and drinks. I keep the generator on after 6pm if need be and not during the day. This helps keeps the cost of hosting low and allows me to offer better prices! Guest AccessReally I'd rather not 'just' be a host to you - we're going to be housemates for the time that you're there. As such, treat the place as your own! Interaction with GuestsI work right across the street from the apartment so I can be easily reached. I can also support on coordinating transport and other requirements. Happy to hang out as well but this depends on you! The NeighborhoodEase of access to main roads, yet not noisy at all. The roads are good, markets are close, the famous Sierra Leonean beaches are easy access, Tacugama is a 25 minute drive away, I can arrange drivers if need be, Leicester peak is 20 minutes away, I'm easily accessible if need be -- it's the perfect location for exploring Freetown. Getting AroundRideshare taxis are a 2 minute walk away (going up and down one of the longest roads in the city - Wilkinson Rd.). Alternatively, we can arrange transportation for trips you want to make if you give at least an hour's heads up -- ideally of course plan ahead. Other Things to NoteI've got a good sense of what to do/what not to do in the city. We should definitely have a discussion beforehand if you're new to town as it will ease settling in. My organization also has a very detailed orientation manual which carries useful insights. Visit Sierra Leone is another great resource.

    The SpaceThe house is a treasure in a green and lush compound, overlooking the bay and the sea, with palm trees and flowers around. It really is a little sanctuary, very quiet and peaceful. The house has a very homey feel to it. The guest room is equipped with a fan and window mesh, to prevent mosquitos to come inside. It has a bed where up to two people can sleep in (it is a 4x6 bed). The bathroom is ensuite and has running water. Hot water can be organised. There are mirrors in both rooms. The bathroom has a beautiful colorful shower curtain! There is a clothing rack and space to store luggage or other things. The parlour and kitchen are spacious and sunny with nice views. Kitchen is fully equipped and open towards the dining area. There is always drinking water available. Electricity supply comes from the national grid, which means that supply is intermittent. There might be nights with no power at all, however, there is a solar lamp that also charges phones and a battery-powered fan. There is internet whenever there is power, but it is data-limited. I am a lover of African art and instead of a TV, I am displaying the beauties I have collected over the years, which makes the house look like a very colorful art gallery! There is a dedicated professional security guard who is around the house at night. Interaction with GuestsI have been in Sierra Leone for a couple of years now and can help out with any information needed or with planning for a trip. Getting AroundThere is parking in front of the house. Other Things to NoteThe compound is secured 24/7 with a guard at the main gate and fenced, there are other houses around and we live like a small village. I have my own guards at night around the house. There are dogs on the compound, for safety reasons. However, I do not own any pets and do not want any pets inside.

Inside contemprorary furnishings and Danish designer pieces mingle with African art and artifacts, creating a warm and comfortable environment. A large veranda, looking out over Lumley beach, is the perfect place for watching the sun set over the Atlantic. Guest AccessGuests will have access to most of the house, which is arranged over three floors with a large living/dining space, IKEA equipped kitchen and lounge opening on to a large veranda with views over Lumley Beach. Interaction with GuestsThe hosts live in the house, but travel regularly. When in-country they can answer questions on Sierra Leone or Freetown, recommend beaches, bars and restaurants and assist with car hire. The NeighborhoodA part but seperate, the 'village' of Wilberforce maintains its distinct character even while surrounded by the sprawl of Freetown. One of the Western Area's original Creole villages it is now home to a diverse population, many of whom have watched as the capital has moved to their doorstep. Neighbour greets neighbour, street traders hawk their wares, footballers play under the shade of the twin cotton trees watched by the statue of anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce (who lends the village his name), while the bustling local market conducts a thriving daily trade in fruit, vegetables, meat and fish. Wooden clapboard houses rub shoulders with turn-of-the-century stone mansions, modern homes and historic churches, all enjoying spectacular views of the Atlantic and over the estuary of the Sierra Leone River to Port Loko. High on the hills, bordered by Spur Road, Main Motor Road, Signal Hill and Old Railway Line, Wilberforce Village is conveniently located for those commuting to central Freetown, visiting the beaches of the Peninsula or travelling upcountry. The popular Hub restaurant is at nearby Bottom Mango, an important transport point (as the name implies). Nearby Bottom Mango is an important transport hub from which taxis, 'Poda Podas' (shared minibuses) and 'okadas' (the ubiquitous motorcycle taxis) depart for Lumley, Freetown and Waterloo via Hill Station and the mountain villages of Regent and Bathhurst. From there too the government bus takes passengers to the Central Bus Station, via Signal Hill and Congo Cross. Taxis and okadas can also be hailed on Spur Road, Main Motor Road and Signal Hill.       We've got a quiet, modern room with all of the amenities a few minutes away from Lumley Beach (fantastic for runners or those who enjoy an ocean walk) and many restaurants, cafes and bars. The apartment has two balconies where we grow our own vegetables and herbs with beautiful views of a small bay. Our place is safe and secure (we're right across from the Radisson, if you need a pool) with air conditioning and reliable electricity, water and internet.
