This is a designer's suite listed in the heart of the city, you won't find many apartments on airbnb as clean and current as this one. It's one that I use personally for my business trips to Fukuoka and I'd love to share the experience of this luxury apartment with you. Interaction with GuestsI live outside of the prefecture, but I can make myself available within a few hours in case of an emergency. I can also meet you upon check in and give you a brief orientation of the room and the area nearby. The NeighborhoodThis apartment is safely tucked away from the noise and the crowds, but still only a short walking distance to all the sights in Tenjin. Take a stroll through the trendy and independent Daimyo district and drop into the boutiques and select shops, cosy cafes, bars, or restaurants (Hint: try the gourmet French Toast at Ivorish, or grab breakfast at Eggs and Things!)
OR walk straight over to West Street (Nishidori) in Tenjin and hit up the big brand-named shops that line the street: The Apple Store, Forever 21, H&M, Zara, Muji, Round One, Toho Cinema Movie Theatre, Taito Stadium (Arcade), Karaoke Kan, or wander through major department stores such as Iwataya, Solaria, Vioro, Mitsukoshi, IMS, Tenjin Core, and Parco.
This location is ideal for all travellers. The range of activities you can enjoy is very diverse. You can have the "Japanese" experience of karaoke, sushi, tempura, video games, cat cafes, and nomihoudai (all you can drink) restaurants.
And you can also experience life as the locals do, with shopping, trendy cafes, good food of all varieties, relaxing in local parks, hopping on the train and going on a day-trip to the suburbs, etc. My favorite park, Ohori Park, is also a short walk away, next to the ruins of Fukuoka Castle.
Across from the Apple Store (which is straight down the street), is Tsutaya, a popular Japanese book store, which is three stories tall, and open until four in the morning. The first floor has a Starbucks (with free wifi), and the third floor is the "Start Up Cafe", founded by the city, a space to encourage innovation and startups in Fukuoka City. If you are an independent traveller who works freelance, you might appreciate a work space like this.
This area also has limitless access to a multicultural selection of restaurants. I'll include a list of my personal favorites in the room for you to check out. You can also order delivery to the door through demae-can, and I'll prepare a guide for those who don't know how to do that as well. Getting AroundYou are located a short walking distance away from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, and the underground subway lines, which connect you directly to Fukuoka Airport, and the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) hub, Hakata Station.
Taxis are also constantly running on the main road, although taxis in Japan can be expensive. Because of traffic congestion, trains and subways are both the cheapest and the fastest way to get around. Other Things to NoteThings I have to note due to repeated problems:
As you can see in the photographs, there is a window into the bathroom. This is this room's particular aesthetic, and what makes it unique. I will not come over to cover up the window for you. Please book at your own discretion.
Early Check-In and Late Check Outs cannot always be accommodated. The previous guest must check out, and then the room is cleaned and prepared for the next guest. Unlike a hotel, I only have one room. Please understand.
Please do not use my address as a shipping address. You cannot deliver packages or parcels to arrive before your arrival.
There is no parking space available on site, please use paid parking located across the street.
If you break or damage something, please let me know. If it is an accident and something small, I will not care. However, for example, if you don't tell me you broke a plate, I will not realize it until I arrive at the room to prepare for the next guest, and I will not have enough time to run out and buy one before they arrive. Please tell me ASAP so I can replace the broken/lost/ item.
If you are staying for a long time, please take a minute to water my plants so they don't die! Thanks!
