The SpaceThis is an almost 100 year old house (refurbished less than a decade ago) around 20 metres from the Atlantic Ocean in the charming hamlet of Funningur. It is a comfortable and peaceful base from which to explore the Faroe Islands. Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole house which includes a single, twin and a double bedroom (ie space for five), a shower (in the basement) and toilet, fully equipped kitchen (oven, four hotplates, fridge freezer) and a comfortable living room with TV and DVD player. Interaction with GuestsThere will not be any interaction from my side unless you have any urgent questions. Please note that I do not live full time in the Faroes so if you are in the house, it means I will be abroad so you will need to be able to look after yourselves! The NeighborhoodThis is (email hidden) to get away from the stress of city life. Absolute peace and quiet, a stone's throw from the ocean and surrounded by steep, green hills. Getting AroundStrongly advised to have your own car. Other Things to NotePlease note that the stairs up to the first floor and especially down to the basement are steep and not suited to small children, the elderly or the disabled.

The SpaceThe house is built in the 1870's with old indoor measurements so watch you head;) There are two floors with radiators in every room. On the ground floor is the kitchen and living room, both with a woodburner/stove with timber supply for your usage. There's a toilet, shower, a double bedroom and a single bedroom. The upper floor is open with a bedroom/office in the south end. There are 2 single beds upstairs. Guest AccessFunningur is the perfect base for exploring the Faroe Islands. The views out over the fjord and mountains are beautiful. The location is perfect for a stay on the Faroes with a car. Funningur is near to some of the most spectacular scenery in the Faroes, only minutes from the highest peak [Slættaratindur] for a great hike. Locals are helpful and friendly and if you dare you can take a refreshing dip in the cold atlantic sea from the pier. Interaction with GuestsThere'll be no interactions unless, of course, if you are in need of help and someone should be able to assist you within the hour. Getting AroundI strongly advice to have your own car - there's a space for parking your car right outside the house. Other Things to NoteAll timetables/prices for busses and ferries: (URL HIDDEN)

A traditional cottage built in 1926 and around 20 metres from the Atlantic Ocean which it overlooks, this is a great base for discovering the Faroe Islands. Only one hour's drive from the international airport, but set in the charming village of Funningur (pop. 70) in the hills of Eysturoy. The house includes a single, twin and a double bedroom, a shower (in the basement) and toilet, fully equipped kitchen (oven, four hotplates, fridge freezer) and a comfortable living room with TV and DVD player as well as wifi access. This is a fantastic place to get away from it all, with only the sound of the ocean, the wind and the nearby geese and sheep to disturb you. Stunning views over the sea as, combined with long summer nights and the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights in winter. You can find more photos and my blog at faroescottage com
