The SpaceThis log cabin is on the bank of the famous whitewater river the South Fork of the Payette near Garden Valley Idaho. The cabin itself is located on an acre in a tiny subdivision of 7 acreages surrounded by the river and public land. Only an hour drive from Boise, the Garden Valley area is surrounded by the Boise National Forest and mountains in every direction. The cabin is three stories with at least one queen bed bedroom and a full bath on each floor perfect for families or 3 couples. It has central heating (no air conditioning required) as well as a big fireplace and wood stove. The cabin is full of windows and light on every floor. There are neighbors but not too close. The river deck and main great room (including modern open kitchen) are the focus of the cabin and flow together into one big living space. Only the upstream neighbor has a clear view of the river deck from 100 feet. As a result, there are very few privacy curtains in the cabin. The cabin was designed and still being built by the owners. At this point, there are only a few details that haven't been finished (primarily baseboard trim). There are huge logs and lots of wood in this cabin. It is a beautiful place in a great location, especially if you want to kayak, raft, mountain bike, dirt bike, ATV, jeep, or in the winter cross-country ski or snowmobile. There is a golf course, heated swimming pool, and a snow tubing hill in the area. Guests will find that this property is perfect for rafters and kayakers to put in/take out of the river. Swirly Canyon (Class II - III) is the upstream run and downstream is the class 2 float through Garden Valley followed by the Staircase (Class IV) run. Whitewater runs, undeveloped hot springs, and beautiful little beaches abound on the South Fork. There are four wheel trails that start at the end of the driveway. Across the river there is Station Creek hiking/biking trail starting from the Garden Valley Ranger Station. This is a great location for exploring the area around Garden Valley and Lowman/Stanley. The Garden Valley area is perfect if you want to get away and drop back in time. There are no destination resorts here. There is a quaint tiny town called Crouch with a few good restaurants, a golf course/hot water swimming pool country club called Terrace Lakes, and access to thousands of acres of public land. There are outfitters for horseback rides, rafting, and kayaking in the general area. Also, the driving on dirt roads and highways is absolutely gorgeous. The drive to Lowman and Stanley is incredible with camping and hot springs all over. This is the owner's personal cabin and we love it, care for it, and want you to as well! As a result, there's no smoking at all, occupancy is capped at 8, and dogs are not allowed. Guest AccessAccess to river bank for possible put-in or take-out on the South Fork Payette River. Interaction with GuestsThis is a vacation property 1 hour from our home and therefore we don't interact as much as we would like to. We are happy to visit or advise guests. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet place with great stars at night. During the summer months this is a great recreational place in the woods. There are neighbors but they are not on top of you. Getting AroundA car or bike is required. There is no public transportation. You are surrounded by public lands - mountains, streams, rivers, lakes, and open country. This rustic riverfront cabin will make you feel welcome in the great outdoors the moment you approach. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or comfort dweller, this home will please everyone. Located on the Middle Fork of the Payette River, this house offers quiet solitude at the edge of the Boise National Forest, with the sound of water right out the front door. The house itself is incredibly cozy—wood walls and exposed timber beams characteristic of a humble cabin, and an open floor plan with a wood stove to make it toasty. Relax on couches and recliners in the living area, with a stocked bookshelf, flatscreen TV with DVD player, and an extensive library to choose from. There is a full kitchen to prepare meals for the whole group, and a large dining table to fit everyone. A deck makes for a great place to eat or hang out, with a porch swing looking out at the river and a gas grill. There's a firepit out here, as well. A single bedroom downstairs features a queen bed, with a full bath in the next room over. Upstairs is a loft with two beds—a double and a twin, great for little ones. Five will sleep comfortably in the beds, though a sixth can sleep easily on the large couch by the wood stove. This house is perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for an escape near nature. Enjoy the time to escape without WiFi at your fingertips (though it can be found at a cafe two miles up the road in Crouch if you need it). Even without WiFi, there is plenty to occupy your time while staying at this cabin in the woods—fly fish in the river out front, raft in the rapids, or go for a hike along the banks. Have a campfire with s'mores or banana boats and tell a ghost story when it gets dark. During the winter, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing become options for exploring around. Crouch is only two miles away if you need to do any last-minute shopping or get in touch with civilization. Whatever your reasons for going into the woods, this cozy cabin will surely enhance your experience—book today!
