Books, board games, playing cards and wildlife sightings are the main forms of entertainment here on the farm. An abundance of wildlife can be spotted from Willow Lodge. It is not a rare occurrence to see a buck or a doe with her fawn grazing at the edge of the woods. The sound of a woodpecker, or a dove; an occasional 'hoot' of an owl is typical. Also available is a small working fireplace in the living room providing guests with a cozy atmosphere while taking the chill out of a cool autumn evening. April through October, a picnic table and charcoal grill is provided behind the house with a beautiful view of the farm and picturesque South Mountains. Charcoal for the grill must also be provided by the guests). The quiet beauty and the privacy of Willow Lodge's location is unsurpassed‌.a serene place to rest, relax and renew. Lawrence and Wendy Shrader are the owners of Willow Lodge and Primrose Dale Farm. It is a working farm located in York Springs, Pa just 11 miles north of Gettysburg and not only produces corn, soybeans and grass hay but is also home to a variety of livestock including purebred Kinder and Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Saxony Ducks, Berkshire Hogs, one Alpaca and one Llama. Lawrence was born and raised in Littlestown and Wendy in Gettysburg so they are both native to Adams County. Both have a family background in farming. Recently married in 2006, Lawrence and Wendy began their search for the farm of their dreams...one that was not too far off the beaten path but far enough to provide the tranquility and pastoral setting they were looking for. Their search ended in 2010 when a 52 acre farm with two houses went on the auction block. Lawrence and Wendy moved quickly and with one swift sound of a gavel, Primrose Dale was born. By offering Willow Lodge as a guest cottage here on their farm, they hope to share with others the peace and tranquil beauty they found here in rural upper Adams County. Sitting back off the main road, the private gravel lane leads to a farm house and guest cottage. An abundance of wildlife can be spotted from Willow Lodge. It is not a rare occurrence to see a buck or a doe with her fawn grazing at the edge of the woods. The sound of a woodpecker, or a dove; an occasional 'hoot' of an owl is typical. The quiet beauty and the privacy of the location is unsurpassed‌.a serene place to rest, relax and renew.

The SpaceA cabin in the woods...little bit of roughing it mixed with some conveniences. Guest AccessGuests can have access to the entire cabin during their stay. The cabin is up a very steep driveway that we do not recommend those without four wheel drive attempt to drive up. There is a parking area where guests can park and then walk their items up to the cabin. Interaction with GuestsWe will meet guests upon their arrival to introduce them to the cabin and help them with any questions. We like to be sure our guests are comfortable with the quirkiness of a 100 year old cabin! We will also collect keys upon their departure. Otherwise, peace and quiet unless you need anything in which we are just minutes away. The NeighborhoodSet in the Michaux State Forest, there is plenty to do and see in this quiet part of Pennsylvania. Getting AroundThere is parking at the cabin at a lower level and then a steep driveway to the cabin. Walking up is possible and driving if you have a 4X4 is possible. Other Things to NoteYou are in the woods so you will encounter some critters like an occasional black snake, field mouse, flies, ladybugs. It is a cabin that is almost 100 years old so it is not hotel living. There is no AC, but there are fans aplenty! Heating is done via propane heaters and a wood fireplace! The bedrooms are semi-private and have privacy curtains, but no doors. There is a modern bathroom, but you need to step out of the cabin and onto the front porch to access it. There is a indoor and outdoor shower. There is also an outhouse for the more daring types! There is no wifi and spotty cell service in this area. It's an opportunity to disconnect!
