The SpaceOnce inside the house, you will enjoy a large living /dining room, with floor to ceiling windows that frame the valley views below. The vineyards surround this home. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessities to cook gourmet meals, including a gas stove. The black granite countertops and eating island make it a delightful place to sit while some clever person whips up something delicious to eat. There are two bedrooms - both have queen size beds. One of these beds is a Murphy bed. Should you need only one bedroom, this second room is perfect to use as a study/office for extended stays. Each bedroom has a bathroom. There is also a small laundry room - especially helpful if you have been hiking through the woods, or have offered your services to help with harvest in any of the vineyards in the area. The surroundings are completely private. You may, however, have an occasional deer peering in through a window, but they generally prefer to eat the newly planted landscaping. A hammock under the big oak trees is a perfect way to relax after a day of wine tasting. There are many trails to hike on, and several guests have spent good parts of their days riding through the country side on bikes. If you like to fish, you can try your luck in the stream at the bottom of the property, or drive to nearby Haag Lake. Should one choose to not cook, there are numerous restaurants in the area. A list of the local restaurants, as well as a list of the vineyards and their tasting rooms, will be available. You will be greeted upon your arrival with multi-colored fresh eggs, offered by the 'girls' (hens) who live by the main house below. A few amenities for breakfast, as well as a bottle of our white and one of our red, await your arrival. The swimming pool is generally open during the summer season and is available, subject to an additional fee. Weather permitting, the spa is open year-round. Guest AccessGuests will have access to everything inside and around the cottage and access to the swimming pool (subject to an additional fee) and Jacuzzi, weather permitting. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to give our guests information about the area - restaurants, shops, wineries, etc. The NeighborhoodWe love the solitude, the ability to walk through the vineyard, and to just sit and enjoy the view. The hiking is great, and stores and restaurants are not very far away. Getting AroundNo, one really should have a car to get about.

This rental is ideal for couples or individuals who are looking to get away from it all while still being close to the area's world-class wineries, restaurants, and attractions. NOTE: For additional guests see my listing "Wine Country 2 BR/1 BA Suite Retreat" Located in the countryside of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, this property sits on twenty gorgeous acres which you are free to explore. The suite is nestled at the top of a hill, underneath a custom log home. The guest space is separate, allowing the experience of complete seclusion in this rural oasis. The master bedroom offers a luxurious queen bed, lots of natural lighting and a flat screen TV with DVD player. The full bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower with adjustable wand shower head. In the cozy sitting area relax in the love seat or reading chair which provides a space to enjoy the beautiful views from indoors. Going outdoors, a large patio offers the perfect spot to relax and revel in the seclusion. A gourmet BBQ grill, patio table, and fire-pit are yours to enjoy for dining al fresco. Kick back in the hammock while soaking in the beauty all around you. You may even be granted a visit from the miniature pig, and goat, who call the property home! The pastoral mountain and forest views the property boasts will make you forget the world behind - until it's time for wine tasting! Suite Retreat is conveniently located off Highway 47, just south of Gaston; there are numerous wineries along this scenic route for you to enjoy. Also nearby is Henry Hagg Lake, which offers boating, fishing, swimming and additional outdoor activities. This location also provides easy access to Highway 26, making the gorgeous Oregon Coast and the metropolis of Portland just a quick drive away. Guest AccessThis is a full suite and you have an outside patio with table and chairs, BBQ & firepit. You can wander the grounds and pet the goat and pig and walk down to the barn if you like horses. You are close to so many wineries it's hard to list them all! The town of Carlton is close and it's quaint with tasting rooms, eateries and the Republic of Jam (amazing and weekend tastings) plus an excellent bakery and a place to get handmade chocolates (Honest Chocolates) There is also live music in Carlton at The Horse Radish on Friday and Saturday nights. Interaction with GuestsCall or text me with any questions! This is your time so I generally stay out of your way. The NeighborhoodThis is a very rural, secluded property with quiet and space. You'll love it if you truly want to get away from it all. Getting AroundYour auto is your best way to get to wineries, eateries, and Henry Hagg Lake. By foot, you'll be able to walk/hike around the Suite Retreat. Other Things to Note1) This is a secluded country guest suite under a log home. Sometimes harmless bugs enjoy warming themselves on the logs and visiting the suite too. Though we do our best to relocate the bugs back to their natural environment, sometimes they make their way back. If ladybugs and harmless box elder bugs freak you out, it's best you stay somewhere bug-less! 2) Your experience at the Suite Retreat could include a bit of animal interaction too - You may hear them depending on your arrival times. Our dogs like to yelp about you! Bark greetings will abound and you never really know when they start their yappy hour. So know that it's a greeting not a warning - and you may not hear them at all. Herbert the mini pig (he's a little hog-let really) loves scratches if you see him; we also have a jar of raisins in the suite, should Herbert come along and you would like to pet his belly, raisins are the way to his heart! But only a few please. Clayton the biggest dog has a loud bark and a heart of a marshmallow. And you might even have a visit from Alice the cat. There is one confused goat named Chester on the property but he'll be in his Goat-tel. He likes to be petted and have visits from you if you wish. The little dog, Stewart is the one who darts about barking and is shy to pet. We do keep Stewart on a bark collar while guests are enjoying the Suite - but they all are happy you're coming! There are twinkle lights outside, LED candles to use, a picnic backpack in case a trip to Hagg Lake is on your agenda as well as various games to play.

If you seek a peaceful stay, near world-class wineries featuring Oregon Pinot Noir and fine dining venues, you will find it at the century old Lambert House. Resting among over a hundred actively farmed acres, surrounded by hazelnut orchards & nurseries, Lambert House is only a short distance to the Ribbon Ridge and Yamhill Carlton AVA's; as well as the Hillsboro high tech campuses. It is offset from the highway- ideal for peace when out of doors as well as ensuring a good night's rest. The beautifully restored farmhouse kitchen is a chef’s delight, with all stainless steel appliances (dishwasher, gas range, refrigerator with water & ice). Stainless gourmet cookware, new & vintage tableware and bar ware. The kitchen cabinets, crafted locally, are of the original style, accented by subway tile and slab granite counter tops. Reclaimed old growth fir from the original walls forms the base of the kitchen island and the living room staircase, (square nails pulled!) The old family table in the dining room seats four (six comfortably with leaves). The highlight of the cozy living room is the beautiful Lambert piano with its original finish. Brought cross-country by the owner’s grandparents via train in 1913, it is now professionally tuned for your pleasure, practice, or recital. The lovingly restored original fir floors and the ship lap walls (underlying the new plaster and paint) provide the perfect acoustics for music. The enclosed adjoining sun porch has a lovely 180-degree view of the Coast Range and the 5-acre pond, and is the perfect light-filled airy spot to take your morning coffee and a good book. The full size Lambert Bed, also original finish, is on the main floor, brought to Gaston with the piano long ago. A feature of the 'back bedroom' is the small walk-in closet with the fir bead board restored and wallpaper inspired by the previous vintage pattern. The original 1920's bathtub sets the tone in the downstairs bath with new 'rain' shower, mosaic tiles and vintage style sink. Upstairs the north bedroom overlooks the pond, and across the hall is the south bedroom overlooking a garden area. The upstairs dual bath has an amazing view of the Coast Range and features a walk-in shower, dual sinks and an expansive locally made vanity with solid granite top. We provide fine cotton towels, toiletries and bed linens for the comfort of your stay. The farm at Lambert House has over 100 acres for you to explore! Take your field glasses when you hike in the woods on the semi-groomed trails (past the historic spring and reservoir), rest awhile on a stump, and soak up the peace and quiet while you wait for deer, Silver Grey squirrel, Pileated Woodpecker, Red Tailed Hawk, and countless other species. You can also hike down to the pond where you might spot the resident beaver and their den on the bigger island. Contact the owner about catch and release of Large Mouth Bass and Bluegill or simply observe as the Great Blue Herons do their own fishing. We find wildlife viewing best at dawn or dusk. It is our wish after your stay at Lambert House that you return home refreshed, invigorated, and possibly with more insight into farm and country life… and of course, with the affirmation that yes, the Willamette/Chehalem Valley truly does have wine among the finest!
