The SpaceIn 1839 this historic rowhouse started as a market on the street level and the familly residence upstairs. There's a massive hearth in the basement that used to heat the whole house. Nothing is level, nothing is square, but that's all the fun. My second-floor apartment contains oak flooring, panoramic views of Seneca Lake, and plenty of bright space. The back deck affords views of downtown Geneva and Seneca Lake, as well as outdoor dining in the warm-weather months. Inside, the apartment has one large bedroom with high ceilings and wood floors, complete with full-size bed and beanbag chair (for reading in the sun). The bathroom includes a shower; the kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, and coffee maker; and the living room contains a futon suitable for sleeping two more. The rooms are decorated with posters and pictures from my travels, and there is free wireless internet. It's a cozy place, full of light and character. I think you'll enjoy staying here, just a few steps from downtown. Speaking of downtown, the rowhouse is within short walking distance of shops and restaurants (Indian, grills, Chinese, coffee shop), Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Pulteney Park, and the lakefront (which includes both Lakefront Park and Seneca Lake State Park). This section of town is in the Historic District, containing dozens of brightly-colored rowhouses from the 19th Century. A short drive brings you to the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and over 60 wineries, Watkins Glen State Park and its ancient gorges, the Waterloo Outlet Mall, great hiking trails (including Ontario Pathways and the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail), and Finger Lakes National Forest. In summer months you can sail, swim, canoe, kayak, and kiteboard on Seneca Lake. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire apartment, including the stocked kitchen, living room, and back deck with views of downtown Geneva and Seneca Lake. Interaction with GuestsI'd be happy to meet you when you arrive, but if you prefer I don't have to interact with you at all. There are separate entrances to the apartment and I'll leave you to enjoy the space on your own. The NeighborhoodThe rowhouse is situated in the Historic District of Geneva, where it was built in the early 1800's. The neighborhood is very friendly and active, with many walkers passing by on their way downtown or south to Hobart & William Smith Colleges. Depending on the time of year, you'll also see cyclists going out for a ride in the beautiful countryside or getting around town. Getting AroundGeneva has a Greyhoud bus station a short walk from the rowhouse, which is served by buses from New York City, Boston, and points west, including Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Toronto. There are regional buses that will bring you to Canandaigua, the next town to the west. The closest airports are Rochester (ROC) and Syracuse (SYR), both about an hour's drive.

These amazing Lakes range from 3 miles (5km) to 40 miles (64km) in length and from 30 feet (10m) to over 632 feet (194m) in depth! There are also several first class golf courses nearby including the Seneca Lake Country Club where you can also rent golf equipment. For a change of pace, why not take a day out to visit Niagara Falls, which is only a short 1-½ hour drive away or to Sodus Bay which is on lake Ontario and takes just a 40 minute drive. So little time yet so much to do and that’s’ just in the spring and summer! During the fall and through the winter the experience continues with the spectacular scenery of changing colors of Autumn leaves on the trees, the harvest of crops and grapes for wine production, Halloween and Pre Christmas shopping and when the snow finally arrives, Skiing, tobogganing, sleigh rides or snow mobiles. Just 4-½ hours North West from New York City and 1-½ hours South East from Buffalo on the US-Canadian border by road, you will discover the idyllic Finger Lakes Region which has also been voted the most beautiful wine region in the world. In a setting of 9000 square miles, there are 11 Lakes and over 1000 waterfalls and numerous gorges, which were formed at the end of the ice age when tremendous grinding pressures gouged enormous holes in the land forming what is now the Finger Lakes region of “Up State New York”. These amazing Lakes range from 3 miles (5km) to 40 miles (64km) in length and from 30 feet (10m) to over 632 feet (194m) in depth! Native American Legend says that the Fingers Lakes were the impression left behind by the creator when he reached down to bless the land. Whatever the truth, the Finger Lakes are a wonderful place to Escape to, to “Just get away” and where you can relax and do either very little or do a lot. To explore the many exciting places dotted around the region and to have that perfect vacation.

A perfect spot for a weekend of leaf peeping, wine tours or college functions. This is my private home that I rent .. not your typical "rental" house.. Walking distance to shopping plaza, Hobart and William Smith college, Wegmans and down town shops and pubs....I request there be no parties as this is my private home with fine furniture and antiques..
