The SpaceEscape to a comfortable, secluded, country "home-away-from-home" two miles east of TX Tollway 130 and just 22 easy miles north of Austin. Imagine having eight private gated acres all to yourself. This comfortable home can sleep up to 8. Gentle, easy kayaking and fishing, firepits, beautiful view of the water, and very ample outdoor lounging space for relaxing and cooking. Hard to put into words the calm feeling you get here. The reviews say a lot. Sleeping accommodations are: one queen bed in the master, one double bed in a bedroom, two twins in a bedroom, and a Crate and Barrel queen sleeper sofa in the huge den adjoining the master. Enjoy relaxing views of Berry Creek at the San Gabriel River. Take one of our kayaks for a lazy paddle. If land-based adventure is more your thing then pet our beautiful pony Mack, visit our pet cow Pearl, then play a spirited game of horseshoes or croquet. And consider a stroll in the pecan orchard down by the creek. Afterwards kick back on one of our two patios. The tranquility of Redbird invites you to indulge yourself with a long, lazy afternoon of conversation or reading and a cat nap or two on our comfy lounge chairs. And we dry your sheets in sunshine and fresh air when weather allows for that unmistakable freshness on the beds. A "cook's kitchen" has most anything you'll need. Owner Pattie Meyers will be happy to guide you to the best places for fresh produce, meats and wonderful Austin-area artisan-made delicacies. We also have our own lovely hens to provide your daily quota of farm fresh free-range eggs. When you're ready for dinner we have a complete outdoor kitchen with grills, fireplace and dining space. Nothing closes the day better than freshly grilled hill-county victuals served with one of the many local micro brews or good old fashioned Texas iced tea. You'll want to linger as the sun goes down and appreciate all the stars that fill up our big Texas sky. No place can claim to be a hill country paradise without including all members of the family. We're a pet friendly property so no need to board your dog. We have an outdoor dog run and your well-behaved pooch is welcome in the house as well. Redbird Farm is the perfect place to bring the whole family for any of the exciting events happening in the Austin Area. Your children can stay here with the nanny or granny while you go to town and enjoy "grown up time" at ACL, SXSW or Formula 1 Racing. And if you'd rather not deal with driving we can help arrange shuttle service. The Salado/Georgetown/Austin area is full of interesting and unique shops, historic buildings, great eateries and more. There are plenty of nearby events and destinations to fill your days throughout the year. Georgetown's historical downtown square is considered the prettiest in Texas and it's a short 7 minute drive away. Redbird is a great home-base for discovering all the area has to offer. The SpaceEnjoy all Georgetown has to offer with the comfort and convenience of staying in a home. Friday night live music at the town square, shopping, and dining are all within a 5 minute drive. The outlet mall is 5 minutes in the other direction, and downtown Austin is a 30 minute drive down the interstate. Since I have 2 guest bedrooms, it is possible for guests to rent both, if a family or group of friends, etc. As I have found no way to list this, I have in the past just made this a cash deal of $30 per night for the second room. Guest AccessYou'll have access to the entire house with the exception of the master suite. If staying for more than a couple days, the laundry room is also available. Use of the pool is also included, as are two bikes for your explorations. Interaction with GuestsI can mingle as much or as little as desired. I teach, so I am out the door pretty early during the week. During the week, check-in needs to be after 4 p.m. (after school), but Saturday and Sunday check-in times are flexible. The NeighborhoodThe area I live in is very quiet, a cul-de-sac in a nice neighborhood off 2243 (Leander Rd). It backs up to the San Gabriel River, which can be accessed by walking a couple blocks, and then a path through the greenbelt. (Somewhat steep, probably not advisable for everyone.) Getting AroundYou'll need wheels... Other Things to NoteThis is a two-story home and all bedrooms are upstairs. Two miniature dachshunds live here too. They will bark a greeting to you, and after meeting you, will be your best friend if you so desire. If you're not a dog person, then just say hello and ignore them after that.

The SpaceOur house is antique but renovated, with a timeless feel. The bedroom suite is secluded, with a pretty view of ours and the neighbor's trees. Guest AccessYou will have two closets and two drawers (built into the wall) for your clothes, a desk for work, private use of the bathroom, and freedom to use any other part of the house besides the other bedroom. There is a front porch swing, perfect for reading outside. We have a spacious kitchen with an island, gas stove, and lots of counter space. Feel free to come use the Keurig or french press to make your morning coffee. Kick back in the living room for some Netflix, or spread out in the dining room if you like. Interaction with GuestsMy roommate and I are university students, but our Spring Break will coincide with SXSW week. At least one of us will be around at least part of every day of your stay. We love to chat and make meals together, but your privacy will come before anything else. If you want to keep to yourself, that's fine by us! The NeighborhoodOld Town is the historic, pretty part of Georgetown, located around Southwestern University (founded in 1872). Our neighbors are all families, and we are several blocks away from the town square - so things here are very quiet at night. Getting AroundThere is no public transit in Georgetown. Other Things to NoteOur house is super easy to reach from Austin. Go north on I-35 out of Austin, and exit after about 25 miles. We are located just a couple of minutes off of the highway. You won't regret taking the time to get out of the city - after all, parking in downtown Austin is nearly impossible during SXSW, and most neighborhoods near the downtown area get congested with AirBnB guests during that time as well. Our house is clean, our fridge has space for whatever you would like to bring with you, and our bedroom suite is perfect for having a great night's shower and sleep.

Sitting on the back porch with a glass of wine or a book, watching the sunset over the Hill Country is sublime. The NeighborhoodSpectacular Hill Country view! Feel like you're in the country, but just minutes from grocery, post office, antique shopping, Southwestern University, great restaurants and historic town square. 20 minutes to N Austin. Getting AroundUnfortunately, no public transportation available here. A relatively short drive to Cedar Park, however, takes you to light rail into Austin. Other Things to NotePlease smoke only outside. Sorry, no pets. We have our own - which we gladly share with you. If you're allergic to cats, our home may not be your best choice. If you're traveling with a child, please let me know, and we may be able to accommodate this.
