The SpaceWe can host up to three guests, in two separate bedrooms. The larger room has a queen-sized bed with a brand new Tuft & Needle mattress and freshly ironed sheets. Plenty of storage space. The other bedroom has a twin-sized ("single") bed, also with new mattress, but not much storage space other than a table where you can put your suitcase. Both rooms have ceiling fans.
The private bathroom is right next door, and you'll have it all to yourself (shampoo, soap, towels, and a robe are provided).
No other guests will be here during your stay. Please note that this is a two-story house, and your bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. Therefore the property is not handicapped accessible. Also note that it's our home and we live here too.
The quoted price is for one or two people using the larger bed. If there is a third person, there is an extra charge of $15. And whenever both rooms are needed, e.g. if two people each want their own room, the extra charge will be applied. If that is your preference, please either message me without making a reservation request (use the "Contact Host" button) or book for 3 people.
If you stay 4 nights or more, you may use the washer and dryer. Other things you might need (iron, etc) are also available.
What makes this home unique is the quiet, very safe location and beautifully landscaped back yard, a gardener's delight!

The house is spacious, and you are welcome to use the living room to read, watch TV, or chat with us. There is a beautiful, secluded garden and deck. A self-serve light, healthy, breakfast is included in the price.
Our kitchen is available at times for light cooking. By "light cooking", we mean microwave and stovetop only, not the oven. And please let us know ahead of time so we can plan. We provide a limited amount of space in the refrigerator (half a shelf) where you may store some food of your own. Interaction with GuestsWe have enjoyed the diversity of our guests, and have had some great conversations over a drink or even dinner. We love friendly guests, that's what Airbnb is all about. But on the other hand, if you prefer to keep to yourself, that's fine too; we will totally respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodThe house is in an established, upscale, safe, walkable neighborhood, known as East Memphis. It's definitely still part of the city (not a suburb) and many people consider this the best part of Memphis to live in. We're about 15 minutes away from Midtown, 25 minutes to Downtown or Graceland. (It's a very easy drive, one straight road all the way downtown.)
We're close to the Botanic Garden, and the Dixon Gallery.... and the only Whole Foods store in Memphis (great for take-out).
There are many restaurants nearby, as well as nice shops, a movie theater, museums, parks, etc., all within 5 minute drive. We're also near the Racquet Club, if you're here for tennis. And there are several other excellent grocery stores less than a mile away.
You might hear an occasional train at night. It is over a mile away, but sometimes the sound seems to carry, especially in the winter. Getting AroundWe really recommend you bring your own vehicle (which you can safely park in our quiet, cul-de-sac street) or you could use Lyft or Uber (cab service). Bikes may be stored in our garage. Occasionally, we have been known to pick guests up at the bus or train station, or drive them somewhere whenever we are able. Other Things to NoteCheck-in time is between 4 PM and 9 PM. Check-out is before 11:00 AM. We do need to know your approximate arrival time, so we can be sure to be at home to welcome you.
Note that the security deposit will only be charged in the event of actual damage by guest. DEPOSIT IS NOT CHARGED when booking.
After you have booked, you will be given our phone numbers. Please note that the first number is a land line and cannot be used for texting. Texts can be sent to the second number, but we really prefer all communication to be done via Airbnb email messaging.
The person making the booking must be the same person who is staying, and we may ask to see photo ID if there is any doubt. We do ask guests to have an actual profile photo of themselves, so we know the person who shows up at our home is the person who booked the space.
No unregistered overnight guests; please ask us first if planning to bring guests at any time.
