Because the Village of Gila does not have a convenient grocery store nearby, for an additional charge, you can order in advance breakfast items such as eggs, pre-cooked ham, cereal, yogurt, muffins, etc. We also offer steaks, chicken breasts, salmon fillets, or ranch raised grass fed ground beef. We are a short drive to the 3 million acre Gila National Forest. With breathtaking views, spectacular sunsets and clear star filled skies you will find a quiet, peaceful 'home away from home' perfect for disconnecting from the hectic tread mill of any big city lifestyle. Read that book you've been meaning to finish, plan to hike to the top of the ridge to feel vast, open and endless views in every direction.
Several guest houses, the barn and many of the original corrals built in the early 1900's through the 1940's reflect the lifestyle and unique architecture of this by-gone ranching era.
Biking, birding along our privately protected riparian area, exploration, abundant wildlife, and star gazing under clear, dark skies are just a few of your options. More than 1100 years ago, the Mimbres Indians made their homes all along Bear Creek. If you know what to look for, you might be able to recognize dwelling sites, find pottery chards or arrow heads! The legend is that the Apaches strategically camped on top of "Turtle Rock" (aka Apache Corral), using it to rest their horses, watch for enemies. There is plenty of wild west history in our corner of the southwest to pique your interest!
