Drive 22kms into Gingin to see the historic small town, waterwheel and brook. or visit the pinnacles 1 and a half hours drive north, or New Norcia 1 hour drive north east. Close to Gravity Discovery Centre 11kms, climb the leaning tower 222 steps, GDC Observatory, horseriding 20kms, honey tasting 15kms. Must see Guilderton (sea and river) and Gingin (historical townsite) En route to the Pinnacles, New Norcia and 40kms north of Yanchep National Park. Getting AroundNo public transport available in this area. Free cattle and sheep feeding and talks are at aproximately 4pm. The NeighborhoodPlenty to do with honey tasting, horse riding, Observatory and Gravity Centre, fishing and swimming at Moor River, history in Gingin established in 1830. Brooks and waterwheen in the Granville Park, coastal towns of Lancelin, Seabird, on the way to Pinnacles National Park 90 minute drive, or Yanchep National Park 30 minutes drive. Getting AroundNo public transport available perhaps a hire car from Perth airport. Gravel road of 3.5 kilometres to the farm gate and a further drive down to the houses. Please note gps is often misleading ask us for a map with directions to be sent to you by email. We have refined this information after many guests have been led astray by various mapping programs. Perfect, private cottage getaway nestled in acres of lawns, gardens and shady gum trees ideal for families and extended families, friends or quiet retreat for a couple or two. Cottage facilities for 6 in 3 bedrooms. Located 70 metres from the B and B for an additional 6 adults. Fully self catering facilities no meals are provided in the cottage. All linen and towels are supplied. Fridge, microwave, gas stove, bbq, toaster, kettle, saucepans, fry pans, all crockery, cutlery, tea towels, towels and bed linen, doonahs and pillows are provided. Cosy wood fire for winter and air conditioning for summer, block out blinds and reading lamps to all bed rooms. Beautiful jarrah polished floors please bring soft soled shoes or socks for inside wear. Guest AccessGuests access to the vegetable garden and supervised egg collection from the chickens, cattle and sheep are fed around 4pm and guests can accompany Reg and Veronica to the animals. Table tennis, bring your bikes for a ride up the 500m driveway. Barbecue for your private use on the rear patio and sofa on the front verandah for reading time. Soak up some winter sunshine and enjoy views to the garden and green paddocks of black and white Galloway cattle or Dorper sheep. Plenty of bird life, flowers, shady trees, magic sunsets and millions of stars. Interaction with GuestsGuests can interact with other guests as each party finds it suits them and interaction with your hosts Reg and Veronica is as much or as little as you prefer. Reg is an accomplished entertainer and a sing a long can be arranged so bring your acoustic guitar, plus binoculars, camera, and kite to enjoy the outdoors. Warm clothes in winter and always a hat for sun protection . Look for us at the house on the little hill to the right of the drive when you arrive. Park in the driveway for easy unloading at Abbeys cottage on the left. The NeighborhoodGingin is a historic Australian town established in 1830, with Gingin Brook and the Moore River surrounding the area. See the waterwheel at the Granville Park in the main town. Gingin Shire covers 4500 sqm aprox with several coastal holiday towns. Gingin Gravity Centre and Observatory Discovery Centre are close to our farm with a display of gravitational exhibits, Cosmos Gallery and Leaning tower waiting for exploration. Horseriding, honey tasting, New Norcia monastery and art gallery, National Parks (Pinnacles and Yanchep), pubs and cafes, mini golf its all within 60- 90 minutes drive. Getting AroundHire a car for your trip 90 minutes (108km) from Perth airport, we are 84kms north of Perth, midway between Brand Highway and Indian Ocean Drive. No public transport available in this area. Plenty of free parking in designated areas. Other Things to NoteSwimming, fishing, paddle boat hire and kayak or dinghy hire available in the warm months of the year at Guilderton about 30 minutes from the farm. Abbeys Cottage nestled in the farm gardens at Sandy Lake Farm 2- 6 guests enjoy perfect private use for farm stay holidays. 1 hour drive (84kms) north of Perth. Located between Indian Ocean Drive and Brand Highway Warm Wood Fire, cool Air Conditioning, front verandah, snuggle up sofa offers views to gum trees lawns and paddocks, Galloway cattle and Dorper sheep. Rear Patio and bbq looks out to gardens and table tennis area for sunset drinks in the evening. Recommendation have your camera handy for the sunset through the pines especially on partially cloudy nights the sunset is silver. Lounge and open plan kitchen / dining, all kitchen utensils, rice cooker, blender, fridge/freezer, microwave, gas stove, crockery, cutlery and wine glasses, linen and Towels, washing machine, iron and outdoor line. Main bathroom has shower and toilet, there is a 2nd toilet plus laundry. Sandy Lake Farm is ideal for a getaway for couples, families or small groups or honeymooners. Gift vouchers, popular idea for birthdays, another reason guests stay is to recuperate from busy lives or to just take family holidays. 11kms to the Gravity Discovery Observatory. The coast at Guilderton (35km) and the historic town of Gingin (22kms). Come with us for a tour of the Dorper sheep and Galloway cattle and out to the lake area usually around 4pm. 14 lambs as at May 25 2016 a few calves and cattle also in the paddocks. Book your stargazing show at Gingin Gravity Discover - GDC Observatory. Ideal for photography enthusiasts or astro photography. Honey farm nearby. Play table tennis in the large separate open games area. Note supermarket, liquor store and restaurant are at least 22kms from the farm. We do suggest arriving early enough to go shopping in the country hours stores or purchase goods and takeaway at the new Yanchep shopping area if coming up Wanneroo way or in Bullsbrook if your coming up Brand Highway. Locality midwest in the shire of Gingin 1 hour north of Perth coming direct do not go into Gingin town as we are west between Brand Highway and Indian Ocean Drive. Sandy Lake Farm is 30km east of Guilderton and the Moore River / Indian Ocean where you can swim, fish, or paddle boat/dinghy hire (summer fun), sand boarding etc. Best place to stay for visits to the Gingin Gravity Discovery Centre and for Stargazing nights at the GDC Observatory. Amazing dark star filled night skies or moonlight nights, the moon comes up from through the pine trees. Nearby Horse Riding, wine tasting, historic township within 30 minutes drive, Pinnacles at Nambung National Park south of Cervantes 1.5 hour drive for an easy day out and perhaps a lunch of lobster at the Lobster Shack Cervantes. New Norcia for a monastery tour is 1.5 hours drive inland perfect for lunch at the hotel and purchase some delicious bread or cake at the Bindoon Bakehouse on the way back to Sandy Lake Farm. . Property Sandy Lake Farm: 166 acres of cleared parkland with mature gums, pines, tea trees and blackbutt trees. Lake has islands and is easy to walk around. Recent guest trained every day by running in the paddocks for a couple of hours per day yes he was very enthusiastic and on an even keel while training for an international yachting event. Farm perimeter is easy walking 3.5kms to see all the farm animals and take an easy stroll past the neighboring 23000 olive trees. This is a quiet restful garden oasis down a 3.4 km gravel road. Bring binoculars, camera for great night stargazing or farm photos in the best light, warm clothing winter can be minus, change of comfortable soft soled shoes in house please.
