The SpaceSelf contained studio fashioned out of a recycled shipping container. It's believed to be Hobart's only accomodation to be built in this manner. Its compact, light bathed interior features a kitchenette (including fridge), small bathroom (with shower, basin & w.c.), double bed and seating for two. The studio has an ecclectic 'Retro' feel, with extensive use of 'up-cycled' furniture & nick nacks. The compact nature of the interior allows the TV to be watched in the living area or snuggled up in bed. Should you feel like some fresh air & fantastic views, simply proceed up the external stairs to your own private roof deck featuring a table & chairs, daybed & pot plants (including some herbs to add to your meal...depending on season). The roof deck offers lovely views over the roof tops of Hobart, to Glebe & the summit of Mount Wellington. A lovely place to enjoy a meal & perhaps a glass of Tasmanian wine. The recycling/sustainablility theme extends to the contstruction of the studio too, other than the recycled shipping container; the studio features macrocarpa timber cladding & detailing which would otherwise have been burnt. Electricity too comes partially from our own photovoltaic solar panels. We also offer recycling & composting facilities. Guest AccessThe studio & roof deck is for your own private use. Access to the studio is through our garden. The studio sits beside the cottage. The cottage & studio are located down a private lane, just off Campbell Street & free parking is available here. Interaction with GuestsWe are friendly people and can provide recommendations of where to go & what to do on your holiday. We will always respect your privacy, but are usually close at hand should you need any assistance. The NeighborhoodLess than 10 minute walk to the vibrant North Hobart cafe & restaurant strip. 15 minutes walk to the CBD & just a few minutes further to iconic Salamanca. A vigorous 15 to 20 minute walk via Glebe & the beautiful Queens Domain will find you in the lovely Botanical Gardens. Woolworths supermarket is less the 2 minutes away & the bottle shop is even closer. Getting AroundThe airport buses drop off at BWS which is about 30 seconds away. There is a bus stop 50m from the house on Campbell Street & you're about 15-20 minutes walk from the MONA ferry. Other Things to NoteOur neighbour is building a house next door, which is expected to be completed by Christmas 2015/ Early 2016. Building work should only occur during normal working hours & so shouldn't impact on your stay as you explore the wonders that the Hobart region has to offer. Nonetheless the price reflects the potential for minor inconvenience.

The SpaceThe Barn appears small but is a multi - levelled deceptively spacious building. From the courtyard you step into an light, open plan kitchen and living area. Up a single step from the living area takes you to the coach room, which would have originally housed the cart/coach for the owners of the property. Down from the kitchen a set of modern huon pine stairs takes you to the bathroom. An external door gives you access to a private mini courtyard . From the bathroom another step down takes you to the toilet and back door. Upstairs from the living space, there is the bedroom and sitting area. I would not advise guests with mobility difficulties to stay because of the multi-level layout of the Barn. Guest AccessThe courtyard which is a shared access space. It contains outdoor dining and a BBQ. Two dogs reside at this property and it is frequented by grandchildren and other family members. Interaction with GuestsIf there are any concerns I can be contacted The NeighborhoodThe Glebe is a heritage suburb of Hobart. It is situated adjacent to the Queens Domain which is 96 hectares of urban green space. The area was given to the people of Hobart by Queen Victoria for public recreation. There is within this vast area, a tennis centre, the cricket grounds, an aquatic centre, the athletic centre, the Botanical Gardens and the Soldiers Walk. It is a wonderful open area with great views of Mt Wellington and the Derwent River. Getting AroundThe Glebe is not serviced by public transport, however it is within walking distance of central Hobart, Salamanca & the waterfront as well as North Hobart and the Botanical Gardens. If visiting MONA , you can catch the Mona ferry or bus from the waterfront. As the Glebe is situated on a hill, walking home after a good night out/dinner maybe too much, luckily a taxi is relatively inexpensive . Other Things to NoteIf you have had your fill (of the amazing Tasmanian fare) and need some down time, the State Cinema, in North Hobart is a fantastic venue. You can sit back with a glass of pinot or a hot chocolate and watch a great movie.
