A washing machine and drier are hidden in a cupboard beside the kitchenette.
Jane Novis, who also runs the local gourmet grocery (see Spencer's Glendowie blog) has lived in the area many years and will make every effort to make your stay enjoyable. Guest AccessThe Loft is above a garage presently used for storage, and access is by stairway.
The gardens are shared with Jane who uses fruit, vegetables and herbs for making gelato and hampers. Interaction with GuestsGuests are welcome to ask for any help, but otherwise are left to enjoy their privacy.
Groceries and prepared food may be ordered from Spencers Deli, either delivered, or collected. The NeighborhoodGlendowie is one of the loveliest of Auckland's suburbs, a little bit city and a little bit country, an unstressed New Zealand feel but with easy access to Auckland attractions.
Cafes and restaurants are within walking distance from the Loft
Beautiful Glendowie Parks include Premier Churchill Park, Tahuna Torea Sandspit and Bush Walk, and the low tide walk from Glendowie to Saint Heliers.
Swimming, Kite surfing and Sailing are within walking distance on the Tamaki Estuary, or, by bus, Mission Bay and Saint Helier's are lovely beaches
Saint Helier's Beach and Village, Mission Bay Restaurants and Cinema, Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World are all on the 20 minute waterfront bus route into the CBD, where City Restaurants, Theatres and Galleries, Bus Tours and Harbour Ferries offer the best of Auckland.
For those without a car, the 24 hours, 7 days, New World Supermarket is on this bus route to the city
Parnell French Market sells beautiful produce in the weekends, and Britomart is transformed on Saturdays to become City Farmers Market Getting AroundGetting to the Loft from the airport is easiest for a couple by shuttle.
The shuttle costs about $50 for one person, but only $60 for two. and takes about 40 - 60 minutes. If you are arriving at an awkward hour, it pays to pre book which you can do online.
The bus costs $16 to Britomart in the CBD, then there is a bus ride to Glendowie, $5. It all takes about 1 1/2 hours if the buses coordinate.
Otherwise, a taxi can be $80, or more and of course travels direct.
The bus stop to town is almost at the front door, and the bus loops around Glendowie, through St Heliers shopping, Mission Bay restaurants and movie theatre, Kelly Tarltons underwaterworld, Vector Arena, Quay St Countdown supermarket and CBD to link with other buses and Gulf ferries.
A 10 minute walk takes you to up Roberta
Avenue or across the park to Crossfield Street, will place you at a different stop for the bus to Glen Innes, a 10 minute ride for the best smoked fish in Auckland, and more food, vehicle and other amenities.
