The SpaceBuilt in 1774, this is the original farmhouse for the entire valley. The house has been lovingly renovated a number of times throughout its history, but it still retains its originals details and charm from the Revolutionary-War period. This is truly one of the more beautiful houses in the area. The house is handsomely situated on six secluded acres. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, a den, a separate dining room, a sun/breakfast room, and two lovely fireplaces. The kitchen is fully equipped for the most demanding of dinner parties. There is a bedroom downstairs that has a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. There is a master bedroom upstairs that has a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. This upstairs bathroom has a second entrance from the hallway for the use of the other two upstairs bedrooms, in addition to its being en-suite to the master bedroom. The third bedroom is upstairs and has two twin beds. The fourth bedroom is upstairs and has a full-size/double bed. There is a separate den downstairs with its own fireplace on its own side of the house just off the living room that nicely functions as a fifth bedroom, containing a queen-size sleeper sofa. There is also a queen-size sleeper sofa in the sun room and a twin-size day bed in the living room. The property has a 50-foot, heated, salt-water pool. In addition to the house, there is a charming art studio in a separate outbuilding and a barn that it used as a two-car garage and tool shop. Located just over the hill from the town square in Woodstock, the house is in Woodstock proper, just minutes from shops and restaurants in the center of town. The SpaceThis house centers around an enormous open main floor with open ceilings, making it perfect for gatherings of friends and family in a lodge-like space. In addition to a main fireplace, there are 3 wood burning stoves (including one in the master bedroom) making it great for cold winter nights. It's off the grid (just a landline - no cable, wi-fi or cell service) but that is the beauty of getting out of the city! The 4 bedrooms (2 twin, 1 full and 1 queen) are on the second floor around an octagonal balcony. The master bedroom includes a ladder up to the tower, perfect for (URL HIDDEN) a really quirky, unique space with a ton of character. A screened-in porch and huge wraparound deck are perfect for relaxing during the summer or having a bbq. The property sits on 25 acres of undeveloped woodlands so you have plenty of quiet and privacy. There's a hot tub on the deck as well! Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire house and property. The only areas off limits is the basement. Interaction with GuestsThis is a 2nd home for me. I use it as much as I can but will never be there when you are. The NeighborhoodWoodstock is an awesome town with really great restaurants, cool quirky shops, and even quirkier people. It's less than 2 hours drive from New York City and the perfect base for Winter activities (skiing at Windham or Hunter for instance) or hiking and swimming in the summer. Most of all, it's a great quiet area to get away from things and relax with friends. Getting AroundIt's best to have a car to get to Woodstock. If you have a group of friends coming at different times, it's possible for some to come via public transport and be picked up or take a taxi. Amtrak from NYC goes to Rhinebeck (30 minute drive) and Trailways Bus goes from Port Authority in NYC to the town of Woodstock (5 minute drive). Other Things to NoteCell Service is basically non-existent. And there is no cable or wi-fi so plan on shutting off for a bit! There is a landline though so you will have that to reach people or give to others to contact you during your stay. It's an easy to drive to town to get wi-fi however. Also note there is no air conditioning. However, there are fans and the house stays relatively cool in the summer.

The SpaceDiscover the peace and beauty of your own secluded Arts + Crafts-style house perched on the southern ridge of Ohayo Mountain with an expansive (180 degree) view of the Ashokan Reservoir and surrounding mountains. Watch the sun rise above the Hudson River Valley and set behind the high peaks of the Catskill Mountains (and see the colors reflected not only in the clouds above, but also in the water below). On a clear day, you can see the Mohonk tower in the Shawangunk range due south. On a cloudy day, the formations drift past you like passing sailing ships! This idyllic Woodstock retreat started out as a rustic mountain cabin with a large stone fireplace and exposed chimney. Since then it has been expanded and updated by a master stone mason and carpenter to include two second floor bedroom wings (each accessed by separate stairways) with cathedral ceilings, oversize picture windows, and glass doors that open onto private balconies. The first floor “great room” consists of a country kitchen with a breakfast bar/island, a living room with a free-standing cast-iron fire stove (as well as the original fireplace), and a dining area with sliding glass doors that open onto a spacious railed, multi-level deck with steps down to a stone patio that wraps around the house and descends partway down the mountain in a series of terraced gardens. In addition there’s a TV/music room with an upright piano and large flat screen TV, and a smaller guest bedroom opposite the first floor bathroom with a vintage claw foot tub and porcelain sink. The upstairs bathroom is tiled in cobalt blue, and features a large walk-in shower with a built-in tiled bench. A landing at the top of the east-wing stairway features a reading nook with a built-in cushioned bench and bookcase. There are examples of artistic craftsmanship in the woodwork, much of which is shaped/carved or inlaid; the stonework, which blends natural living rock formations with dry-laid meandering walls, steps, pathways and patios; and the gardens of flowering shrubs, vines, exotic trees and perennials. As charming as the house and grounds are, the real attraction is the breathtaking unobstructed view, which is visible from every room of the house and every patio, porch, deck, terrace and lookout on the property. In fact, you can even relax in a rustic plunge pool (12 ft. in diameter and 5 ft deep) that is built into an escarpment of rock on the far edge of the patio and enjoy the view from there! Well-behaved dogs are considered. Please ask! Please note that a $75 pet fee per dog applies.

The SpaceThe Blue room is a sweet, clean comfy space steps away from a shared bath on the ground floor. There is drawer space and closet space and a small section of a hutch with a lock and key in which you may place objects you wish to be extra secure. The door to the room will be kept closed while you are not on premises, the windows open and have screens and heat (forced air) can be controlled by the guest. WiFi network provides you with connectivity. Guest AccessYou must have a vehicle to stay here - we are on top of a mountain and walking or cycling to and from town is no easy task. Parking is available in the driveway. Room is ample for up to 4 vehicles, it will be obvious which spots to park in so as not to obstruct other vehicles, and if it isn't - you can ask me where you should park. Kitchen may be used to prepare a breakfast - only coffee and tea will be provided. You may use the refrigerator for small items. Cooking a meal other than a simple breakfast should be discussed with me prior to planning to do so. Common areas are Patio, Kitchen and shared bath on ground floor. Living room and dinning room are available should guests wish to entertain pending a discussion with me regarding same. Breakfast may be eaten in the dining room. Guests may use the backyard. Interaction with GuestsEither I or my daughter Hannah will be available and on premises during your stay. I would be happy to share with guests any information about Woodstock or happenings in the area. I like my privacy and will assume you do as well. The NeighborhoodIt's Woodstock - the one and only - if that's not unique enough the entire region is alive with the arts - with natural beauty and countryside - great places to eat and music everywhere! and yes Dylan did live on this street. Getting AroundYou MUST HAVE a VEHICLE here to get around, although town is only 3 miles away it is all downhill then all uphill to get back! It has been done by bike and hike but you'd better be superfit - i mean world class fit! Other Things to NoteAlthough our address is 514 Ohayo Mountain Rd., our driveway is only accessible from High Rocks Road - only one option to turn onto Highrocks - it only goes one way! You can see the white house with blue trim from Ohayo Mtn - Rd but we have a large meadow between the house and the road - so one enters from High Rocks - the first driveway. Tip: if you get to the top of Ohayo Mountain Road and start going downhill - you have missed High Rocks Road - there is a street sign and it is easy to see.

The SpaceThis room has been inhabited only by artists and musicians for over 40 years. The Muse resides within the walls. It was my mother's painting studio for 3 decades and has since been rented to musicians as full time tenants for the past 5 years. The bathroom is a full bath and it is shared with host - it is accessed by passing through the living room and dining room - it is not adjacent to the bedroom. YOU MUST HAVE A MOTORIZED VEHICLE TO STAY HERE - we are on top of a mountain and i have had world class competitive cyclists here who found it tough going - cabs are not cheap and not plentiful in the summer season. Guest AccessThe living room, bluestone patio (with Ashokan reservoir and mountain views stretching on a clear day to 50 miles) and dining room are for guest use freely during the day. These common areas are off limits after 9pm, so you will have complete privacy in this room as it adjoins the living room which is never in use at night. The kitchen may be used in the morning when you rise, we offer only coffee or tea in the mornings but you may store food in the fridge if you wish and prepare what you wish for your breakfast. Interaction with GuestsI am available at all times and can pretty much advise you as to what - when - where - is happening in town and around about. The NeighborhoodWe are on top of Ohayo Moutain road - yes Dylan lived on this road way back then as did many other Woodstock Musicians. (cap M intended) - it is considered one of the most desirable locations in the area - private - quiet and a feeling of sanctuary permeates (almost to a one every person ever visiting has used that word "sanctuary" - whether you are into it or not - there is a palpable spiritual energy in this place - it is a place where many have "healed" including myself!) Getting AroundYou really must have a vehicle to stay here - we are only 3 miles directly downhill to town but it is a mountain - getting back up is no walk in the park. The driveway area can easily accommodate 5 vehicles without restriction on egress. YOU MUST HAVE A MOTORIZED VEHICLE TO STAY HERE - we are on top of a mountain and i have had world class competitive cyclists here who found it tough going - cabs are not cheap and not plentiful in the summer season. Other Things to NoteYOU MUST HAVE A MOTORIZED VEHICLE TO STAY HERE - we are on top of a mountain and i have had world class competitive cyclists here who found it tough going - cabs are not cheap and not plentiful in the summer season.

The SpaceThe farmhouse dates back to the early 19th century, and has a rich history. The previous owner was the founder of the communist party of New York and hosted many artists and intellectuals over the decades, his picture hangs in the living room, as well as an oil painting of the house when it was a working farm. I have restored the house over the past three years and therefore although the historic ambience remains, all of the plumbing, electrical and heating systems are up to date. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house, except for the sleeping loft upstairs and a home office. Interaction with GuestsI am available by phone at any time, day or night, for questions. Imlive between NYC and Woodstock, so there is a chance I could be staying in the guest cottage on the premises, but I will let you know upon inquiry if this is the case. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is well known in the area. It is very picturesque and you can walk down to the farm nearby and say hi to the cows or the goats. Getting AroundWe are 1.5 miles straight down the hill to town. A car is advisable, unless you enjoy walking. Grocery store, pharmacy, etc.. is also 1.5 miles down the hill.

The SpaceIt's a peaceful and relaxing spot. There are three good-sized bedrooms with queen size beds. The kitchen is large and has lots of dishes, cups, utensils for your meals. We've spotted deer and wild turkeys wandering through the backyard. The animals seem to love the creek running through the property. You'll also likely hear a variety of birds. There's a projector screen that you're welcome to use with Amazon TV. You're also welcome to use the fireplace in the living room and the propane grill out back. Guest AccessThe whole house will be for you to enjoy. Interaction with GuestsI'll be available by phone and email to help troubleshoot any issues. The Neighborhood- Just about five minutes away is downtown Woodstock with a variety of shops and restaurants and galleries. All within a few blocks you have your choice of American, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Mid-Eastern, and Vegan cuisine! - There are local concerts regularly as well. - Nearby you'll find the Comeau Park hiking trails. A 30 minute walk up Rock City Road puts you at the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and the start of 300,000 acres of Catskill Mountain hiking trails. The Big Deep is a local swimming hole that is a lot of fun. Getting AroundYou can park in the driveway. It's pretty large so larger vehicles can park there. Other Things to Note- The hot water doesn't last super long so I recommend taking quick showers. - As you can tell from the photos, I have a friendly puppy, so you may notice some dog hair around the house -- we keep it as clean as possible! -- so if you're allergic to dogs, this may not be the place for you. - Please note the spiral staircase. It may not be for everyone as it is pretty steep. - There are extra table leaves in the shed to extend the table if you want to have a large dinner.
