The SpaceA 1950 cottage custom-built for a WWII veteran and his bride, the house features a built-in closet and cabinets in the master bedroom, charming details throughout, and a European economy of scale in the newly-added and recently renovated bathrooms. The cottage is situated on 7 acres of beautiful fields surrounded by historic buildings within walking distance to Mobjack Bay and its many inlets, as well as John's Point public boat launch. Guests can spend their days exploring the back roads and old country stores of Gloucester County and the Northern Neck--by car, bike, and on foot--or venture to Colonial Virginia's plantation country and the Historic Triangle of Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Jamestown. Guests who wish to explore further afield can drive 1-2 hours to Virginia Beach or 3-4 hours to the mountains of Shenandoah National Park, while those who wish to stay closer to home will find the York River and Chesapeake Bay beaches in Gloucester Point, Yorktown, Mathews County, and throughout the Northern Neck to be an easy 15 minute to 1 hour drive. Quaint local shops and restaurants, a year-round farmer's market, two health food stores, an independent book store, and a homemade-ice cream parlor (seasonal April-December), are all within a scenic ten-minute drive from the cottage. Larger grocery stores, pizza parlors, and chain stores/restaurants are also under a ten-minute drive. Guest AccessEntire house, outbuilding with washer/dryer, single-car garage. Interaction with GuestsGuests will be cared for by our maintenance staff but will have the ability to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. The NeighborhoodThe cottage is in the unincorporated village of Naxera, Virginia, whose 1880s post office/grocery store sits next to the property. The neighborhood is a refreshing blend of "live and let live," where people respect each others' privacy and the need to get away from it all, and an old-fashioned community where folks know each other and look out for their neighbors. Getting AroundA car is necessary to get around. The house is @ a 30-minute drive from Williamsburg-Newport News airport, an hour's drive from the airports in Richmond and Norfolk, and 2 1/2 hours from DC National and Dulles Airports (depending on traffic). The SpaceThe cottage is cozy; coming in at 725 square feet with an additional 150 square feet in sunroom. The deck practically hangs over the water; so you feel like you are a part of the environment. One of the most exciting parts of being at this cottage (other than the beautiful sunsets) is being able to watch thunderstorms move across the water towards you. Incredible!! Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire house, front yard, and the beach area directly in front of the property (90 feet). There is also a kayak, grill, and chiminea on site. A small stack of wood is provided. We have a lockbox on the door. A code to access the lockbox will be provided prior to checkin. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I can be available if you would like information about the area or just some company while watching the water. We are also very respectful of our guests personal space; so if you never want to see us that can also be arranged. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is unique because it is so hidden. Although the cottage is located in a neighborhood; you have to know where it is in order to find it. The area is very quite with very little boat or people traffic; other than the watermen working their oyster and crab boats. Our favorite restaurants are Bangkok Noi; Egg heads Diner, and Courthouse Grill. Brent and Becky's bulbs has an 8 acre garden open to the public (for Free!) to teach and inspire amateur gardeners. Gloucester courthouse has weekly events to draw people to the downtown. Getting AroundThe cottage has a private parking area. There is no access to public transportation. "Town" is 15 minutes away and includes some very quaint shopping and local eateries. We are also in close proximity to the Northern Neck, Yorktown, and Williamsburg (Water Country and Busch Gardens). The Northern Neck has a growing number of wineries with unique tasting rooms. Other Things to NoteThe property is private and there are very few full time neighbors; so if you are looking for a place to people watch...this is not it. If you are looking for tranquility; give this cottage serious consideration. The shower controls (Hot and Cold) are reversed, so turn it on in between.

'You have to see it to believe it. Wareloch is one of the few places on earth where you can experience uninterrupted views of land and sea, not a neighbor in sight. Gorgeous spot, lovely home, gracious host. Pure paradise!' Previous Guest's Comment Wareloch is one of the few remaining places where you can enjoy sweeping, uninterrupted views of the Ware River and Mobjack Bay – an arm of the Chesapeake Bay. Wareloch is on a natural inlet between two coves with beautiful private, secluded beaches. Children can enjoy a swim in the river, build a sandcastle or play hide-and-seek in the boxwood gardens. Adults can relax by the water – a good read in one hand and a favorite beverage in the other. Animal watchers can observe such wildlife paradise as ospreys, snowy egrets, blue herons, bald eagles, great horned owls, wild turkeys, white-tail deer and more. Or you can kayak along the shoreline, soak up the sun on the private beaches, or find your own peaceful spot at a scenic paradise we call Wareloch. Wareloch is the perfect spot to host family and friends for the holidays or anytime you want to gather at one place. The kitchen is fully stocked and the dining room can seat 10-12 guests. This 3,900-square-foot home has 12 rooms featuring 4 bedrooms (1 king, 1 double, 2 twins, 2 twins & a futon), 2 ½ baths, formal living room, dining room, den (sofa bed), library (sofa bed), music room, breakfast room, kitchen, butler’s pantry and screened porch. The kitchen features new cabinets, countertops and appliances. Whether you come with family or friends, you will find Wareloch is an unbelievable place that will beckon you back year after year.
