Upscale, very private, and large, luxurious space. It includes: a King bed, a large dressing room with large walk-in shower and private water closet. Many of our guests have been single professional women on assignment here for two months or more. Accordingly, we have adjusted our rates to offer attractive discounts for weekly or monthly stays. Our guests' comfort is due to the luxurious, private and spacious living quarters and the security features (fire and burglar alarm service, fenced and gated grounds.) Located in the heart of Eastern North Carolina just two miles from downtown Goldsboro, this historically significant gem (known locally as "The Farm") blends the ambiance of a comfortable European country estate with interior architecture from Vernon Hall, the most historically significant plantation house in the county. The guest wing is around 2,000 square feet, completely private and self-contained, with separate entrance and amenities. This bedroom, decorated in gray with purple and mauve accents, is on the first floor and features a California king bed with canopy. This bedroom is appointed with an antique chest, sofa and elegant, yet comfortable furnishings. Sliding glass doors open on to a deck that overlooks gardens featuring azaleas, pecan trees, and a range of flora and fauna. Other first floor spaces are common area spaces and include the fully equipped galley kitchen , a large "front parlor" (see photo and description below) , and a small dining table. Upstairs the lounge/library has Wi-Fi, a flat screen Sony TV, and DVD. There’s also a small office area in a corner of the library with a large glass desk and screen for privacy. The main room in the guest wing is the living room or "front parlor" featuring 12 foot ceilings and a large, elaborate, hand-carved mantel. All of the interior architecture, including the heart of pine flooring, was removed from Vernon Hall (ca. 1819) a plantation house that once stood on the banks of the nearby Neuse River. The front parlor was reconstructed to scale. Described by one architectural historian as the “most unusual room in the South,” the front parlor's focal point is an immense fireplace with unique designs carved by enslaved artisans 200 years ago. This mantel was featured in Winterthur magazine as an example of early 19th century Southern vernacular interior architecture. This rare room is idea for enjoying a glass of wine, a "bourbon and branch" or cocktail of your choice. It's also perfect for simply reading and relaxing. It works excellently too for small events like discussion groups, receptions, or showers. It's been used for just about every kind of small celebration you can think of - for going on two centuries.
