The SpaceThank you for taking the time to view my listing; I would love to help you enjoy your stay in the Charleston area, and I welcome your questions. Some questions, however, may be answered if you please continue reading....
I AM GIVING PREFERENCE TO RESERVATION REQUESTS WHICH ARE LONGER IN DURATION THAN WEEKEND OR WEEK-LONG GETAWAYS. MY PLACE IS VERY WELL SUITED FOR THOSE IN TOWN FOR TEMPORARY WORK ASSIGNMENTS, INTERNSHIPS, EXTENDED VISITS, WAITING "IN LIMBO" WHILE YOUR MORE PERMANENT HOME OR APARTMENT IS READY FOR YOU, ETC.
Start with a convenient location, an inviting and knowledgeable host (that's me), a good amount of space, a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed overlooking the community swimming pool; add on a second bedroom with more storage options & a second queen bed, then add to that a kitchen stocked with all the major appliances and the smaller ones too (like your own coffee maker & a blender for frozen drinks), a comfortably-furnished living space with cable and secure, wireless internet, plus a VCR/DVD player with a Redbox just around the corner where gasoline is the lowest price around, and you have just discovered the absolute, best deal in the Charleston area!
Inflatable tubes are free for your use in the swimming pool or for a relaxing float trip down the Edisto River, the country's longest, free-flowing, blackwater river! Don't forget your beach towels, beach blanket or beach chairs found in the hallway linen closet! Use my transferable county park pass to admit everyone in your vehicle into the county parks for free, which makes for free beach parking near the best amenities at Folly, Kiawah or IOP. Although I will take care of laundering your towels and all bedding used during your stay at checkout, the washer & dryer are available for you to wash & dry your clothes as needed!
Please note that the unit is UPSTAIRS and there is no elevator, therefore it is not easily accessible to individuals with impaired mobility.
The neighborhood is well-established with mature trees and it is a quiet condominium complex bordering a quiet neighborhood of single-family homes. By "quiet", I mean "uneventful"; unfortunately it is NOT quiet when the trains pass by! The condo complex & its surrounding residential neighborhood is located adjacent to railroad tracks with a railroad crossing less than a block away, so there are train whistles sporadically throughout the day, and some at night. The trains did not wake me when I lived in the unit, nor have the trains woken any of the guests I have hosted--although people have commented that it can be difficult to fall asleep while a train passes sounding its whistle--fortunately they do not last long! Plentiful shopping options for everyday needs such as groceries or sundries are located within minutes by car, one supermarket is actually walking distance along pedestrian-friendly streets, and several chain restaurants & a popular shopping mall are likewise a 5-7 minute drive. The distance is possible to walk, however those businesses are along a busy commercial strip, so I do not recommend walking outside of either of the two, inter-connected, residential neighborhoods which are tucked back away from the hustle & bustle of the vehicle traffic. Either of the neighborhoods happen to be a great place for a walk, a run, or a bike ride, which is the safer route to bike to the mall!
Whether you will be in the area on a work or military assignment, a school rotation, or just a getaway you don't need to leave the immediate area to have an enjoyable stay, but if you plan to make your lodging this short distance outside of the City of Charleston, you will maintain easy access to that charming tourist city, and also open yourself up to accessing many of the other treasures of Berkeley & Dorchester counties which most visitors to the region rarely see, all while saving yourself a considerable amount of money! Be smart...use the money you will save by not choosing more expensive lodging and by preparing some of your own meals to allow yourself the indulgence in some special outings or souvenirs!!! For when you are ready to get yourself someplace outside of the immediate area of the condo, public buses (~$2.00 each way) do stop nearby and the bus stop is walking distance (~7 minutes), and it is safe to walk, so there is access to downtown Charleston, the airport, and other areas if you do not have a motor vehicle. Bicycles, may be taken on the buses for no extra charge, which is a great way to see downtown Charleston, particularly on a weekday. With your own vehicle, however, you will see that my condo is in a really convenient and accessible location...about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston, 25 minutes to Mt Pleasant, and the Isle of Palms/Sullivan's Island/Folly beaches are only a 30-35 minute drive, so all the recreation and the historic plantations, antebellum homes, great restaurants, and other attractions are readily accessible!
As I often tell my girlfriend, I am one of the cheapest people on the planet, so I wouldn't mind sharing with you the places downtown or at the beach which offer free parking, or those restaurants which promote half-off food specials in the area. My part-time job in the summer is guiding kayak tours for the biggest paddling outfitter in the area, and I genuinely enjoy meeting people from out-of-town, so don't hesitate to ask me about paddling opportunities by kayak or stand-up paddleboard. I expect you will see that my rental rates are among the lowest out there...they are even less expensive the longer you stay because the cleaning fee is charged only once for each reservation! Please don't hesitate to send me your questions; I will look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you to the GREATEST Charleston area!
Best regards & safe travels no matter with whom you stay,
